I like how they didn’t just make Peach a damsel in distress in the Mario movie. They actually made her a brave warrior who helps Mario instead of just waiting for him to save her.
It also allows Mario and Peach to get to know each other better.

It's a tie for me. Both are good. Including sonic 2. What i like most about these movies is theyre proof that video game based movies can be successful when done right

Toad told Mario that Luigi was in the dark world because Mario described the world that Luigi was being warped to when they separated. That's not rushing things.
Exactly, that’s actually WHY Toad started Rushing to the castle to see the Princess. It was an emergency, and they didn’t want to waste much time. They didn’t have time to doddle and take it slow.

I am looking forward to the next Sonic movie which has a great story and arcs to cover if its based on Sonic Adventure 2. I am excited and nervous to see what it will look like, but I just hope it surpasses the other two movies. On a side note, I know everyone is looking forward to seeing Nintendo adapt their other franchises, but I'm more curious about Sega adapting games like Streets of Rage, Jet Set Radio, NiGHTS, Yakuza, Skies of Arcadia, Super Monkey Ball, and others into films or shows

I haven't seen the Mario movie yet, but I do love the Sonic movie, and its sequel even moreso. The Mario movie _does_ look pretty awesome, though, so I'm definitely wanting to check it out. Especially considering that I was more of a Mario fan as a kid (when it comes to the games, anyways).
If Nintendo does make a multi-universe of it's brand of games to film, Sega should have it's own too. I'm looking at you Golden Axe.

On the Peach girl boss, even though she did the course in one shot, wasn't she trained to do it from a little girl? I agree, though, they should stay away from making anyone into Rey.
Also, your somment about the Transformers is dead accurate. I'm so tired of the focus of humans. I want more of the Cybertron battle/story as I mentioned that in one of my videos.

Ever since this movie was a success in the box office it makes me excited for opportunities for other Nintendo games to get movies about them like Zelda, Kirby, Metroid, Splatoon and many more
Maybe even spinoffs movies for Mario like Luigi mansion or donkey Kong country
To me, both the Sonic and Mario movie should've been the archetype of good video game movies. I still love them, but they still could've been so much better. But I'm still surprised they turned up this good. I'll give credit to Illumination, they're greedy, but they're good at making something kids will love.

Man, Mario just gives you hope for the future, specifically how they do the other franchises. I loved all three films for completely different reasons. It cannot be understated how WELL they did our franchises justice. Sonic 2, however, is Mario's greatest equal in terms of execution.

The only characters from The Super Mario Bros Movie that I thought felt like and looked like Illumination characters were Francis the dog and the humans in Brooklyn
I honestly liked Sonic more because it felt like it put forth a bit more effort into its story (even though it's not that good). However, I respect Mario more for being animated.
Mario's Bros movie animation was top notch. I can't wait for Sonic 3's story though I have a feeling its going to be the best Story out of the Mario Bros and other two Sonic films.

@@delaware5407 Never said Mario was some big, expensive movie. All I said was that it would usually be more expensive if Sonic was fully animated. Considering that Illumination admits that they make movies cheaper than most, Paramount would've had a more expensive movie had Sonic been animated.
I think the difference between the Mario movie and the Sonic movie is that the producers invented a story from scratch and then made a list of references that the movie needs to have in order to still be a Sonic movie, but the Mario movie producers did the opposite, created a gigantic list of references that the movie needs to have and then fit any kind of story into this list. In summary, the Sonic movie is a movie that tries to make a good story with some references, and the Mario movie tries to create a story that fits in references that should be in the movie.
We'll have to wait thirty years before we get to see an animated sonic movie, because we all waited three full decades for an animated mario movie.

We are going to have a Transformers animated movie set on Cybertron next year called Transformers One with Chris Hemsworth as a young Optmuis Prime.
I think the category that needs to be talked about is the soundtrack, The Mario movie embraces the music from the games very well by Brian Tyler & Koji mondo where as in the Sonic movie its...fine but it should've been so much better especially when you have a guy like Junkie XL. (The important thing in Sonic media is the music)
*(I do have flaws with the Mario ost one being that the Pop song choices in certain scenes are really off putting, plus the superstar song wasn't originally going to be in it and Brian Tyler fought for the actual superstar theme to happen and well, it did and i'm very happy about it)
Nice Video comparison of both Video Game Movies between Sonic the Hedgehog Movie and the Super Mario Movie of 2023 and I said that they’re both good video game movies in my opinion especially with Mario and Sonic.

The Mario movie had an amazing animation team, but the acting and story were really undercooked. If they had gotten really skilled actors to play the characters, it would already be massively better. Keegan-Micheal Key had a phenomenal role as toad, Anya Taylor-Joy did a perfect peach, and Jack black’s voice matches Bowser quite well. However, Chris Pratt put no effort in selling the Brooklyn accent, Seth Rogan didn’t even try, and Luigi had almost no voice lines at all, though the ones he were given didn’t sound good or bad, very unmemorable.
Meanwhile, the Sonic movie had Jim Carrey having a very colourful interpretation of Robotnik, James Marsden was quite entertaining, and of course, Ben Schwartz brought an entirely new version of Sonic to life, and did so masterfully.
Where this movie has fault however, is in it’s faithfulness to the source material. I, for one, actually really like that they didn’t just go for the standard story we’re so used to. But, I can see how some would get upset that they don’t get to see Sonic and friends running around Green Hill. It seems so removed from the games, it’s hard to see it as a Sonic movie.
Both series have potential, however. Sonic 2 and 3 seem to be bringing more iconic game characters and items (e.g the chaos emeralds, g.u.n, etc) to the big screen. And Mario has such a HUGE chance to be amazing. Hopefully, they will figure out how to get the story better next time, although unfortunately the bad actors are here to stay, most likely.
I apologize for those who read all that brain dump.
Good video game adaptations already existed: Street fighter 2V 1995, Street fighter 2 1994, Fatal fury: The motion picture, Fate shows (0 & Unlimited blade works), Ace Attorney 2012, Gungrave and Professor Layton & the eternal Diva. There are more out there. Anyway, great work 🤣👍
We are living a renaissance era for Videogame adaptations, and I'm all IN for that, I went and watch the Super Mario Movie 4th times and never get bore while watching it, and was so fun notice a new Easter egg or reference I didn't notice my first time watching, but I surprisingly love the story and pacing, yes was fast, but never was boring, it was so much fun, all characters are so much fun, I loved my 4 times experiences watching this film and now I eager waiting to own this in blue ray or DVD, Sonic also was a lot of fun specially Sonic 2 and I really looking forward to Sonic 3......I hope Hollywood learn some positive lessons with these films, about honoring the source material and the FANS, and listening to them like the Sonic developers did after the first trailer and changed Sonic design.....I hope the upcoming videogame films learn from all the GOOD adaptations we have gotten, Detective Pikachu, Arcane, Castlevania, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Last of Us, Sonic 1 and 2 and now Super Mario Bros.....and past adaptations that are also good like Street Fighter II the ANIMATED MOVIE, Street Fighter Assassin Fist and Mortal Kombat Legacy, I hope the next time Hollywood tries to adapt a videogame, they integrate the creators, music composers and put people who love the games to adapt the film, just like Mario did.

I have issue with how Peach is talked about, because EVERYONE seems to forget that she was playable in Super Mario Bros 2 (American version) and had her own game (Super Princess Peach) that allowed her to be a badass.
Aside from that... this is honestly a really good comparison. I enjoyed Mario more (Though I enjoyed Sonic 2 more, being my second favorite movie)
It makes sense Peach is good at platforming, she can literally walk on air

Nice video! Given your reaction to wanting to play a particular part of Super Mario after the movie, I wonder if there will be a Star Fox movie that will bring the franchise back. But I hope they don't redo the first game. Just give us a sequel that takes place a couple of years after Star Fox 64. Your thoughts?
I think it would have been better if you did a 3-way battle between Pokemon: Detective Pikachu (2019), Sonic the Hedgehog (2020), and The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023). Still, a good video overall.

That would certainly be fun. But I need a PS5 to do that. And I personally don't have the funds. Especially considering PS5 prices have gone up and video game prices are also going up.

Mario have a lot fun scene that connect the little story together. Sonic focus on the story and build fun and cool moments from there. Thats why sonic 2 is more fun because its almost similar to mario.
I liked how you briefly mentioned the dog not many talk about him 😂 we’re you foreshadowing a video to do with Sonic 2 there? guess since you wished they would drop the human plot that you weren’t the biggest fan of the wedding side plot in the second one then bet you liked how the side characters did more in Mario during the final battle than Sonic (don’t let Tails hear you call him a pet😂) what did you think of Jack Black Peaches song? since that quite popular I use to quite like that Super Mario bros game

Well the reason why Princess Peach did the course on the first try was because she grew up there and I assume she was getting used to everything as when she was explaining about her past showing flashbacks of her growing being trained.

Eric Carter Plz Do Sonic 1 Vs 2 Movie Cause I’m Interested to hear Your Opinions on The Sequel
Most of the scenes are scored with custom versions of the game lvl referenced within the scene, from the original games.
Only noticeable missed opportunity I saw was when Mario & DK were underwater. They didn’t seem to do the water lvl music, from the OGs at least.
Other than that one, pretty much all significant scenes had OG VGmusic interlaced with the mood of the scene
7:56 It reminded me of "Ben 10: Classic." (Season 2 Episode 4 "Gwen 10") When Gwen transforms into Heatblast, Ben tells her that when he was Heatblast, he needed to practice making his name on the sky numerous times but Gwen pulled it off seamlessly in her first try. Same thing happened later but when Gwen transformed into Four Arms in the bowling alley.
Question - Are you going to do a review on The Little Mermaid remake? In my opinion, there's lots of problems just like all the other remakes, and the visual effects look terrible going by the trailers.

Both of these movies were OUTSTANDING! I REALLY REALLY enjoyed them!!! You can tell the people who made these movies are fans of the franchise! You can also tell they were having film making the films! If they were having fun making it, we were just as having fun as watching it! I can't wait to till The Super Mario Bros. 2 & Sonic The Hedgehog 3!!!
Honestly, I'm more of a Sonic fanboy lol but I won't deny Mario's games are fun too. I'm just more of a Sonic guy. As for my favorite Mario game...I'm stuck between Mario 64 & Mario Galaxy. Can't choose honestly lol As for my favorite Sonic game...aww...it will ALWAYS and FOREVER be "Sonic Adventure!" As a child, I would play that game multiple times, knowing EVERYTHING about the game! The levels! Gameplay! The quotable lines! Hell, decades later, I'm still playing it! Mario & Sonic are one of the biggest video game characters to date! I'll NEVER stop loving them!

12:02 for me it's one of the worst thing an adaptation can do : assuming the viewer already know /read/watched the Source material .
It's an opportunity for the filmmakers to be lasy , not putting efforts into explaining the world the characters are living in and its rules ;
because they think you already know them (so why bother) .
And I'm not talking about neat little references in the background that you can erase from your memory 5 min after seeing them and/or can be totally removed from the movie without altering the story of the movie ;
I'm talking about things from the source material having importance for plot in order for it to move forward , but not explained because they think that you already know them (references are used as a substitute for an actual script).
so things just happen without much explanation and your average viewer (who went in wanting to watch a movie about something he's never heard of or isn't familiar with and maybe want to get into it) is left wondering what's going on and finds it underwhelming at best and confusing at worst .
I had to look up on Google what a "blue shell" is , and why did Mario suddenly speedup after drifting , why where they able to defy gravity all of a sudden .
It's like if the writers told me :"hey! You wanna know what is this thing indispensable for the plot just happened ?
Well use Google , you idiot!" .
(They did also that with every powerful ups , if you don't know the source material , you have no idea what each of them do because at any point in the movie they're explained besides the red mushroom)
If that doesn't sound bad , imagine if that happened in every disney adaptation of fairytale stories ;
imagine if crucial plot points weren't explained to the viewer in one way or another because Walt Disney screenwriters think you read the books , you know the source material .
Would these movies be as good as they are?
Idk what to tell u man, this movie is made for Mario fans, so the general audience is just gonna have to suck it up and enjoy the ride.
I personally love both. But, I can't deny how alienating the Sonic movie is. As someone who played the games, then watched the movie, i had an absolute blast with it. But, for someone who'd never played a game before, I can imagine the difference in tone, character, and design to be a bit jarring.
The Mario Movie however provides an on screen Mario game. Familar music, character designs, and tones all across the board.
2:09 I was kind of okay with that the movie only had 90 million dollars and it cost $5000,000 for the redesign so they didn't have that much money and even though the second movie also took place on Earth still they had a lot more references to the games and the sequel had $110 million budget.
It's hard to choose. I love both!
I think the producers/studio were testing the waters with the first Sonic movie to see if it was worth putting more money into making more worlds with the sequels. So that's why they had a familiar story line with the first film, which I thought was okay, but didn't really get going until Sonic 2.
The Mario bros movie while immersing the audience much more into their world via cinema had more of that safe Illumination feel to it which I'm not a fan of.
I like the Mario games growing up, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't LOVE DK Country more and I love seeing that Arena fight between Donkey Kong and Mario.

I think the Mario Movie won all the Way because of the Reviews and because we Barely saw Sonic Family in the Movie but in the Mario Movie we saw his Parents, his two Uncles, His Aunt, and their Grandfather and Niece and that Movie showed us their Expanded Family Members as for the Ender it’s better then Sonic
