  • This is a little variation of Gareth Wilson's Black Mamba fly pattern. This is a massively effective stillwater pattern and this version should get the job done if the fish are spooked by some larger streamers.
    Hook: Fulling Mill 5085 size 10
    Bead: 3.2 mm chartreuse brass
    Lead: 0.02 round wire
    Thread: Chartreuse UTC 140
    Rib: Silver brassie wire
    Tail: Chartreuse crystal flash
    Body: Hareline black rabbit strips
    Dubbing: Hareline peacock ice dubbing
    Head cement: Loon

    Whats the purpose of the silver wire. Love this pattern, seems like a smallie killer if tied in a bigger pattern.

    This "fly" is an absolute killer here in Scotland. Both river and Stillwater.

    20 or 30 crystal flash = 100 or 150 fibers :)
