for a comparison, pickup sold in europe, with 4 cylinder diesel engines (between 140 and 200 hp) or the only v6 (vw amarok), has an average consumption between 10 and 12 km/l for mixed driving conditions
That's not too bad at all! We did a lot of short, in-town driving with this truck over the 8 days we had it, but we mentioned on a comment on the Cruze Diesel video that we've just developed our own little TestDrive Circuit, a 100km loop that will give us a consistent way to test fuel economy for every vehicle we have moving forward. We'll still talk about our overall fuel consumption, but there's so many factors that can go into that number. This benchmark we're hoping to set will allow us to use the same distance and route for every car, much like MotorWeek does for their videos. Our 2019 Volvo S90L T8 Inscription was the first today to go through the test, and did 5.8L/100km. I'm hoping this helps moving forward!
Perpetual Radio Networks if i hypermile on flat road our small diesel car i can get an average of 3.0 L/100km according trip computer :D meanwhile average consumption with mountain and short trips is 4.1 But is not fair with plugin Hybrid Volvo t8...
Thank you for the review, would have like to see more views of the panoramic sunroof, when you started driving the total inside look like it had the feel of a being open, a much larger feeling then not having a sunroof at all. It really seemed like it opened it up. 2 things I think people like me really appreciate that were not mentioned (Which I think it would have, my 2018 F250 6.7L does) Towing, being able to put in trailer names and record which trailer you are using, it will record the miles you put on the trailer as well as the blind spot adaption, really nice feature for towing. Something I really like as well is the number pad on the door for opening up your doors or locking them as well without keys. Towing with the 3.5L vs 3.0L diesel would fantastic to see. I'm a big diesel guy and torque is where it is at. But the 3.5L has more torque than the diesel. It would have been nice to hear about the towing difference. Thank you again.
Beautiful car,the only pick up, that comes into question for me, I d like to mention that Ford makes very reliable cars, recently came into contact with a guy, whose Ford Escort had run 290.000 kilometres without any bigger repairs. Good video as always
We've heard a lot from both sides in terms of reliability, the engines themselves seem to be pretty solid. My first car was a 1983 Ford LTD Crown Victoria, and if it weren't for the stupidity of my teenage years I bet I'd still be driving that car today.
I’ve waited for Ford to come out with a diesel in an F-150 for a very long time. However, my issue with it is two things... 1. The price is crazy! Need I say more? 2. Instead of a timing chain, they’ve put a timing belt in that engine. That, right there, kills it for me. My wife has been driving Subaru’s for a long time, and we love them! Thankfully, Subaru went to a timing chain as opposed to the belt. Much better and better for maintenance. The 3.0 Power Stroke, however, will need a timing belt replacement after 150K miles... As someone who would use it for long-cross driving across the states (not towing), I want fuel economy. I also want longevity, as well. Replacement of that timing belt will cost a fortune, no doubt. So, I think the F-150 with the 2.7 is the best option.
The cost is definitely a bit of a problem, it'll take a lot of driving over the course of the warranty period just to make up the difference you'd have saved. We do miss the fuel economy though, we just wrapped up filming the 2019 RAM 1500 Limited with the non-eTorque 5.7L Hemi, fuel economy was significantly higher, even compared to the 2.7TT we featured in the F-150 earlier this year.
if 440 lb/ft seems awesome for a 3.0 look at the overkill 4 turbos 3 liter bmw M550d with 580 lb/ft and 400hp stock :D but im not sure about his market, if someone need big payload and towing there's the heavy duty series and the 6.7 powerstroke if not, the 3.5 ecoboost is more than enought, faster and cheaper to buy
I'd love nothing more than to drive that M550d! I have seen the M550i here in Montreal, but I'll have to save my pennies and book a trip to Germany one day to feature the diesel :D The 6.7L PowerStroke is the go-to engine out here in our town, almost half the F-Series trucks we see are F-250 or F-350 Super Duties. We really liked the overall efficiency and power of the smaller engine, but if money wasn't an option we'd be special ordering an F-450 Platinum dually with that 6.7L!
Perpetual Radio Networks certanly m550d should be impressive, i never see one of them on the road. But the top craziest diesel car ever made was the old generetion Audi q7 with 6.0 v12 TDI and 500hp But the golden age of diesel engines is gone, probably thankfully...
Good review. I was pleasantly surprised. I have looked at this truck and the interior is very nice. When you are paying the big money, have the interior look upscale like a Mercedes or something similar. I like the console shifter. Just seems more natural. The GMC column shifter looks and feels a bit "rental." Diesels are meant to be driven steady. I have learned to stay with traffic. There is no need to wind in and out. If you want jack rabbit acceleration, get a V8 and the mileage. I can't get used to the bar grill. I was hoping that Ford would have gone with a standard approach as it looks so much better. But that is my opinion. I like the mileage of the diesel so I just don't waste time at gas stations. But I find that many gas cars are always at the few diesel pumps. Really annoying.
We really enjoyed this PowerStroke F-150. We've got the 2019 F-150 Limited booked in July, should be a bit more luxurious on the inside over this, but the Platinum is still really well optioned nonetheless.
Great review 👌🏼 thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow you made me miss Canada where is the best people in world. Where you always feel welcome. Love you Canada 🇨🇦❤️
Glad to hear that! We're 100% Canadian produced content, and that wont change!
Lol you didn’t stay too long - there’s a lot of places where you will not feel welcome as a minority

Nothing's fair with this plug-in Volvo! We went all out with the episode on this car, looking forward to October 29th when we publish it!

We’d love to be better equipped to talk about towing aspects of these trucks, it’s a goal we have for the long-term future of TestDrive.

Love your reviews man! Don’t listen to those haters. Great video!
Thanks! We definitely ignore the hate, there's no room for it in life. Cheers!
WOW that's another great video, thanks a lot. Cheers
Hoping to always make great content, thanks for always watching!

Wow I'm the first view. Just wanted to tell you good job like always and don't listen to people about weight.
I appreciate that, thanks!

What is the fuel tank size.
This one had the default 98L fuel tank.
