Astros fan here and the worry meter is at 6
I'm an Astros fan, but optimism has to give way to math at some point. In order for the Astros to simply reach a record of 88-74 (which would NOT have made the '23 postseason), the Astros have to go 60-39 the rest of the way. Essentially, play .600 ball. The notion they're going to do that without Cristian Javier or Jose Urquidy (and no one knows what you'll get with Garcia or McCullers), or without consistent offense from 1st BASE, LF, CF, 3B and C seems far-fetched at best. I'm on Team Rebuild. Rip the band-aid off. (and clean house on the extraneous voices in the front office.)
Fortunately for the Astros nobody has broken out in the AL West. The Mariners could possibly, but have not so far. The Rangers like the Astros have definitely underachieved. What is very different about this year up to this point is that the only path to the post-season for the Astros looks to be winning the division.

Surprised no mention of Shohei’s back and then hamstring contusion which most likely contributed to his slumping. I seem to notice his launch angle is mostly negative so not sure if he is swinging down on purpose more instead of swing more upper cut as see a lot of 100+ mph singles which may have been doubles or hrs if he had better launch angles.

Ben, I love your big faith in the Astros, and I hope you're right regarding September and the postseason. The AL West is not as advertised. Houston needs to win and win consistently. Offense must connect and starting pitchers must quit giving up runs in the first inning of games.

The "worried about the Astros" bit is getting tiresome. We know Ben's stance on the matter, let's move on to other things including some actual legit contenders at the moment.
Just got back from a vacation in Cleveland where I saw both Guardians-Royals games. The Guardians are definitely the real deal. Royals are good too. But I would give the Guards the edge because I think they have a deeper team. Especially in the bullpen.

Talking about how the Astros still get to play the Mariners a bunch when we just beat them 3 out of 4 last week with barely any hitting and already took the first series in Houston last month. Oh and we were a couple of bad innings away from sweeping both series.

Y'all are baseball people, y'all should know this stuff already... if Sasaki posts early, he can only be paid as much as the allotted amount of international bonus pool money a team has, which is significantly less than the blank check a free agent signing could do like Yamamoto & Imanaga did cuz they waited till they were eligible to post as a free agent... Secondly, whenever u talk about Yamamoto & Imanaga, y'all never point out the fact that Imanaga is 30 years old compared to Yamamoto who is 25 years old, that's a huge difference in experience & maturity... Imanaga has 5 more years of professional baseball experience & 5 more years of life experience, that's a huge advantage for Imanaga as of rn... I def expected Imanaga to be better out the gate but I feel that Yamamoto will have a better season by the end of the year...
