I live in tropical Queensland Australia and have grown up with these fruits, we also call them fruit salad plants because they taste a bit like fruit salad … but we have two different varieties of this plant, one that produces fruit, and the other one does not produce any fruit at all and is just an ornamental plant, our plant produces fruit all year round and is not seasonal… you can just cut off some of the stem to grow another plant, you don’t need any roots you can grow it from cutting, we cut the top off the main plant stem and trim off some of the leaves and cut it into 12 - 14 inch lengths and stick the cuttings into the ground and each piece will grow. I am happy you are enjoying the fruit.

Only peel the scales off that do EASILY peel off. If you peel off the others to soon the fruit will feel like it is “cutting “ the inside of your mouth. My parents had a monsterio (as we called it) and it is definitely my favourite fruit too. Brisbane Australia.

Thanks, I grow these in several locations in my garden BUT all 4 are either under large liquid ambers or large bamboo, so not sure your right re water. Mine fruit readily without any additional water, however they are tropical plants so I guess extra water won't hurt. The fruit ARE delicious. After you remove the outer skin from all the ripe sections use a sharp knife or even a fork and place all flesh in a small bowl and then mash it to a pulp. Don't worry about the little black bits just mash it, add some ice cream or better still fresh cream and you have a yummy nutrition packed health food. I grow mine on the Central Coast of NSW and they are healthy as can be, just got to beat the possums to them.

I live in Bermuda and these grow everywhere. We call them locust and honey fruit. Not sure why. We put the unripe fruit in a paper bag to help it ripen faster.

So glad you got one after 5 years. Better save Noah a bite or the next time you get one ripe you may not get any.

Kare B. It'd be nice to have seen Noah's face after trying it. Love to hear what he thought of it, brave kid! Most kids just want chicken nuggets and fries. Lol Thank you Brian for sharing ❤️😁👍🌷

Enjoy the rare fruit. It looks like a quilt or like tile.

I live in the north so I grew mine as a house plant. It was located in an area with a ten foot ceiling. The plant grew so tall, it touched the skylights. My mistake was putting it in a corner where the air roots could touch the wall. After being in that stop for a long time, I decided to move the plant and found the the air roots had embedded themselves into the plaster of the wall
