- In this video we start our day at camp. Then we head out to find the black tailed prairie dog. While out we find conservation ponds for an endangered species of frog. Also find some giant agave blooms and beautiful landscapes. Then back to camp for a dinner on the camp grill.
Thank You For Being Here.
*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. Join me on my adventures.
Thanks for watching!

Neat spot, looks like a lot of fun! Kelly should white out the T in Hertz so it will just be Herz 😂✌️
Thank you very much for the prairie dog footage. Excellent.
A perfect Brian day!! Thanks for the video and look forward to the next one.
I’ve used similar apparatus on a gate opening. What you saw is a good way to hold the top of the post on a wire gate. You put the bottom end of the wire gate into a piece of wire looped to hold the bottom. Then you push the top closed and take the wood handle and pull it around the top of the post and hook it back to where it holds the top of the gate post taught. I know I’m sure I lost you. I wish I had a visual for you
That's a pretty good explanation. The stick gives you leverage on the top end of the post to close. I noticed there's old barbed wire so there was probably a gate right there at one time.
@@sjackson99 I was thinking the same thing
We have those gates all around the southwest. We call them "Texas gates." The gate was most likely removed but the "latching" was left in place.
Love the tour of the prairie dogs, cool. Thanks for sharing. Away we go.
Great video. Beautiful campsite and landscape. Thanks for sharing!
Loved the Praire Dogs getting rehomed back to Arizona.
This was so cool to know that they are finally helping prairie dogs and other creatures! I was so mad when I was growing up and they were being slaughtered. You really got some great footage, thank you for showing it to us! All your meals are so photo worthy and make my mouth water.
I live in Wyoming with ranchers all around me, not one has ever had a horse or cow break a leg in the 50 years I lived here. The problem with Prarie dogs is that they are a host of Yersinia Pestis, the flea that carry Blubonic plague. Each year there are a few people that still get it in the U.S.
Yup. You’re right. It’s a myth about cows and horses breaking legs.
The plague does not spread to humans through the black tailed pd.
@darrenolson1206 yeah the plague thing was also a myth with these guys. The way I see it at the time the ranchers were doing what they thought was the right thing to do. Stories tend to be told for 'historical' significance.
Thanks for showing us the prairie dogs. I've always found them to be interesting creatures.
When I was a kid we had a mesquite tree and we would chew on the seed pods…..they were very tasty and sweet. Thanks for sharing, great video.
Love the conservation efforts!
I enjoyed the this episode. The reintroduction of the prairie dog is a wonderful story. Thank You.
I’ve said it once I’ll say it again. Brian you are the Jedi Knight of finding awesome campsites!
Cool prairie dog conservation. Your videos are so relaxing.
It's always a good time hanging out with you. 👍✌️🌞
great show. I always get hungry after watching your vids.
Beautiful video. Thank you for all your efforts
Potatoe Wiley is a man I’d be best friends with for sure !
Keystone species: a species on which other species in an ecosystem largely depend, such that if it were removed the ecosystem would change drastically = prairie dogs hold the ecosystem together.
Nice video. I love prairie dogs...and frogs ...
Looks like you found another sweet spot which you have a knack for.
Great camp spot! I really enjoy when you go exploring around your camp. The prairie dogs and the watering hole were pretty cool. I guess, I should just say I really enjoy your videos 😊 👍
I, too, love watching the wind blow thru the grasses. Sure adds to a sweet day.. and lightens a challenging day! 👍
Great video Brian but we all love Kelly’s beautiful smile and we missed that this go around. 👊
Hi Brian, man those blue skies are amazing and the mix of topography what a great place to visit and yes those trees are beautiful! Be safe and safe travels 🦅✌🏼
I usually save your videos until my off day to enjoy with coffee but I'm not off until Friday so I just couldn't wait. The prairie dogs were cute. The scenery was beautiful and the food looked very edible. Don't forget the hot sauce! 😁👍
Very sad to hear that Brian about the prairie dogs. They aerate the soil, so the past farmers were killing off their unpaid help!! Not being a US citizen, I love seeing these little guys. They are very intelligent and oh so cute 😊
Thanks for another great tour. Loved seeing the prairie dogs.
Another good one. The side exploration adds interest. Many thanks.
HOLA 👋
Thanks for sharing!
SAFE TRAVEL'S EVERYONE, ONWARD BOUND ✌
Loved the video and I love the trees at your camp too.
Thank you Brian. Safe travels to yourself, Kelly and Hobbs 🙋🏼♀️ 🚐 🌏🕊
Mother Nature knows exactly what’s what and is perfection. Humans come along and think they know better. We don’t! Great video Brian. Subtle, but effective on getting that message out. Kudos!
That’s the yummiest way to have fried potatoes eggs & bacon - delicious 😋
Really neat video, Brian. Thanks for educating us on the Prairie Dogs. They are really cute.
They have taken out most of the mesquite trees to open up for grasslands. They have reintroduced antelope as well. We got snowed on last year in March.
Another great video Thanks! The wood fire is mesmerizing, love it.
I live in Sierra Vista and do a lot of the trails in that area with my jeep. I've also spent a weekend in my travel trailer next to the prairie dog town. It's an awesome area 😊
I love prairie dogs! Good that you are sharing info about their importance in the ecosystem! The grilled chicken meal looked wonderful!
We share our 7 acres of old farm land with the prairie dogs. Fun to watch them and really aren't an issue with sharing the land. They have their acres and we have ours. Enjoy the videos
Awesome country! CONGRATS on 100,000 subs!!!! No surprise here! 👍😎🇨🇦🌾
I must say that chicken looked DELICIOUS!!!!
you're quite the chef
Thx Brian 😁 the prairie dogs are so cute 🥰. We got the wind last night 😮it was bad. Supposed to cool down again but 74⁰ today! Perfect. Pennsylvania ❤️ you!
Hey Brian.. beautiful country there. Chicken & rice looked amazing ! 😁😋👍✌️
Excellent country Brian. Regards to Miss Kelly & Hobbs.❤️🙏
Brian, loved this section on frogs and how they pump water to the small lake/pond. So glad that you are out exploring and sharing with the audience. And, I could smell the chicken cooking through your camera lens.
👍👍 Thanks Brian and God bless y’all 🙏✌️
Thanks for such a great video! Yeah, I could see how waging war on prairie dogs waged war on the plant life and ground water reserves, it explains a lot about the current state of fresh water in Arizona.
I thoroughly enjoyed your trip and information about the plants and animals.
These last few since your 100k have been such a good hangout, B. Really enjoying it!❤
Thanks for sharing, was cool to see the Prarie dogs out in the fields.
What happen to all the Cholula hot sauce? I remember in your early videos you put that on almost every meal you made!!
Safe travels and look forward to you next video!! 🏜
I love the videos where you go exploring on your motorcycle(s). I love all your episodes, actually, but as a life-long motorcycle guy, I do really enjoy the ones where you explore on them. :) Be safe, Brian, Kelly, & Hobbs!
GLAD TO SEE THE PRAIRIE DOG TOWN AND IT'S SUCCESS. I HAVE A PET BLACK TAIL PRAIRIE DOG OF MY OWN AND SHE'S HILARIOUS, I NAMED HER NANCY AND SHE EATS GOOD. SHE'LL BE 5YRS. OLD IN JUNE. I WISH YOU WELL ON YOUR TRAVELS.🇺🇸🌞👍🏻
The stick and chain is a latch for an old wire gate. It appears the gate was removed and replaced with fencing, but they didn't bother to remove the latch. You can tell there was a gate in that location because of the T-post driven in at an angle to support the gate post.
Relaxing video to watch before I start my day. Thanks Brian
That sure was a beautiful spot. Very interesting history on the prairie dog. When my late husband and I were traveling back home from Alaska coming through Kansas we needed to get the van washed and where we pull off there was a whole bunch of prairie dogs over there.
I like how you’ve recently been filming your explorations and adding them to the video.
Hi Brian, here in the UK they are reintroducing Beavers ( they were made extinct in the UK by hunters for their pelts ) and releasing them into rivers to help the ecosystem as they are natural dam builders and already they are making a difference to wetlands.🇬🇧🇬🇧
Beautiful area. Good the prairie dogs have a place to live in their habitat. Great conservation area. Like those local foliage and trees. Hobbs, so nice. ♥️ 🙂👍
I remember hunting Prarie dogs as a teenager in the 90's.
When I was a kid in North Dakota late 1940s to early 50s there was a bounty of 1 cent each for ground squirrel tails, paid at the local court house
Great location. Thanks for the education, also!!!
Heck yeah! Glad you're enjoy yourself and finding time to make videos for all of us to enjoy it with you.
Brian. Great video nice to know the prairie dogs are making a comeback. Something else you may want to check out is the restoration of beaver populations in AZ. It's in the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area.
Thanks for another enjoyable video, Brian!
I’ve been prairie dog hunting before 💥🤠
Your camp is so nice and I appreciate the trips to the various sites in the area. Thanks.
Very nice Brian, thanks.
Good cooking and some interesting exploring too!
Thanks for another fun video!
Thank you Brian, we have loved your last few videos so much that we rewatch them to get us thru until your next one. Traffic here in Tampa is crazy & these bring me inner peace. 2 months for us to be back on the road👍🏻👍🏻
Sorry if answered, I looked briefly but the stick on the chain is a built in lever to stretch the gate shut, much like chain binders that truckers use to secure loads. It’s leverage.
Looks like Kelly got a new truck! 😊
Thanks for the video
That Palmer Agave plant stem was tall! They are beautiful when they’re blooming. I’m thinking they bloom in summer-June thru August
I'm loving those motorcycles rides Brian! Wow! Very informative and such gorgeous scenery! I'm stuck in South Florida waiting for hey another new fridge to arrive for my rig! So noisy and people are so angry! Looking forward to relaxing on the road in Northern Florida very soon! Hello to Kelly! Enjoy life Brian!
The stick…. It’s used by ranchers. They bang it on the fence post over and over. Cattle hear it and come running. My uncle used something close to that set up on different parts of his lands.
I grew up in a farming community with groundhogs and cattle. Not once was there a issue with a cow getting injured by a groundhog hole. The farmer mentality was mighty mean to little critters.
The "Whistle Pig Roundup" still goes on throughout the Western US.
Great video with so much interesting information. Thanks! As you travel.. we travel 😊 Hi Kelly & Hobbs .
I love those cute little prairie dogs! Love your explorations on the motorcycle too!
Those coals look like they're ready for those potatoes!
Awesome video Brian. Fun to watch those guys
Heck ya sweet ride out to the dogs ,sweet camp and thank you for sharing big hugs from Mn
Awesome, awesome video! You did yourself proud!
Love all the native plants. Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Loved hearing about and seeing the prairie dogs 👍🏻
thanks for the tour of the conservation projects and other interesting features in this area where you're staying. interesting and enjoyable.
Really enjoyed the views, and that fire was beautiful. Never mind the wind, it was still so fascinating to see the land and the “traffic” 🐂 on the road. Thanks for sharing. Hi, Kelly and Hobbs! Ps, I’m now hungry. ✌️❤️🚐
Loved this video! The prairie dogs were so cute and interesting. The scenery out there is stunning. The blue sky with the clouds make for a beautiful back drop. That meal looked like something you would get at a restaurant! I like how you use the cast iron to cover the meat....does it help to cook it faster? I love cooking with my cast iron pans when camping. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
The chain and stick looks like it was a old wire gap fence gate. it is used to leverage posts together and hook the wire holder to hold gate up. look up How To Build An Easy Barbed Wire Fence Gata
Hobbs looks ready eat and the camp is secure .
Brian, your videos are so calming and relaxing. Thanks for what you do my friend.
~Dave~
that old pumpjack is a jensen 2d7, produced from the 1930's to the 1970's. designed for water wells but some were used for oil wells. supposedly it's strong enough to pump a 900 foot deep well.
Visit Tombstone, you are close and it is so much fun! Big Nose Kate’s for lunch. Kelly and you for old time photos!
Thanks so much for the tour. It was interesting to learn sbout the native animals and plants. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge .
I think the stick and chain is used to tighten the barb wire fence if it loosens up. So beautiful out there!
Hi 🙋🏿♀️
I saw nary a black tail on the prarie dogs you showed, must have been a rival gang known as the beige/brown tails.😂 Thanks as always for taking us along.✌️💚
I was wondering how the buffaloes avoided the prairie dogs holes back in day! Enjoy your videos!
Really enjoy your videos! So nice to see the beauty of the desert! Thank you for sharing your journeys with us!😊
Great video, thanks Brian
