- In this video we begin our morning at camp. Then I ride up to Canyon Lake and stop at Tortilla Flats. I ride beyond Tortilla Flats to the end of the road. Back at camp we finish up with dinner and call it a day.
Thank You For Being Here.
*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. Join me on my adventures.
Thanks for watching!

Hey Brian thank you for 10 years of videos. I’ve been watching that long. And you never disappoint on the quality of your videos. Please keep them coming.
Wow, 10 years! Ive been watching weekly for 5 or 6 years and I love it so much!
Hi Brian! Great coverage and footage! What a beautiful place!!Congratulations with your 100k subs milestone. I am very confident this video will get you there. I have faith the universe will work in your favor….Safe travels, in solidarity 🦅🙏🏼. Also Mr. Hobbs is an excellent addition he’s such a good boy!!
Have been following you and your adventures for several years. Today’s ride hit me like a lightning bolt. Almost 40 years ago, my wife our first daughter and myself did the same ride all the through to the dam. It was in August, we both taught school in NY and were on our first vacation before returning to work. Once I saw Tortilla Flats General Store it all came back to me. We stopped to ask directions and to pick up extra water and food because as it was described that twisty road in August wasn’t a place to risk a flat or breakdown with out supplies. Most people in the store had hand guns on their hip and a rifle in their pickup. There were also Big Horned sheep in the hills above the store. It wasn’t crowded in the 1980’s and of course there weren’t any snow birds in August. There were several boats on trailers which looked out of place to a New Yorker on the desert for the first time. Have enjoyed all your videos but today’s was extra special to me. As I was watching my wife walked by and said on first glance, “we were there.” Thank you for bring back a sweet memory. Sorry the road was closed to you, you would have loved the ride on your bike.
Me too. We were there.
I went there back in the mid 90's same story then to with the guns on the hips and in the truck. We traveled in a blue minivan but had all the gear for camping in tents. Watching these videos makes me homesick for the desert.
Wow Nice MemorieS.
Brian, you always bring me a feeling of peace and calm with your style of vlogging and the places you visit. Thank you for that. Glad to see the 3 of you are doing well. Wishing you the best.
Thank you...another real goodie...I read in another comment...it's 10 years....wow...top stuff
Nice ride, beautiful scenery. Almost hitting that 100k, congrats 😊✌️
Don’t feel bad because Kelly is back at the van working. You are also working. Exploring on the bike, creating content for us grateful viewers. 😃

Really enjoyed you taking us along on one of your motorcycle rides! I can't get over how beautiful that camp spot is 😍✌️
Awesomely BEAUTIFUL videography. Hugs to you , Kelly, and precious Hobbs.
The sunsets y’all enjoy are priceless!✌️❤️
You all seem a little bit happier since Hobbes joined up. Safe travels Brian, Kelly and Hobbes.
Good evening Brian, Kelly & double ear rubs Hobbs ! You both always find such lovely spots ! Thanks for the great tour & insights in your little piece of heaven that you’re enjoying ! Meal looked delicious & what a beautiful Family the three of you are ! Keep up the great work & keep smiling !
Man that's where I grew up don't live there anymore but sure do miss the place.....great video
You really do an awesome job of capturing that scenery. Love it
Hobbs is such a good boy. I don’t think I’ve seen ears so triangular and alert as his, at least for quite a while! He seems to really be enjoying the mobile lifestyle, and has adapted to his adopted retirement caretakers’ routine with his elderly dog-gentleman grace. Thanks for taking us on that ride to Tortilla Flat. What a rush! ☮️❤️🐾
Tortilla flats was giving me social anxiety just watching 😬
Thank you for taking us along to places I thought I would never see! What a treat it’s food for the soul.
Wow, you captured some beautiful and breathtaking shots in this video!
Thank you for sharing your adventure with us.
We always look forward to seeing your Stay Safe my friend
Such beautiful views! The mountains are always my favorite, but I think the saguaros are the finishing touch! I've seen that lime green lichen all over California, but I've never seen it in the desert just out on the cliffs. It makes me happy to see how much you two love Hobbs. Aren't dogs the best?
CONGRATS Brian!!!!!!!! Been waiting for 100K :)... Please make a video highlighting your journey to this milestone...Here is to 1Million :)
100K, congrats ☕️👍🏻🇺🇸. 🫵🏻🍝
Perfect video to end a chaotic day! Thank you. Gorgeous scenery. Hobbs is one lucky & very loved dog. You & Kelly are doing so well with him. 🐾❤🐾

99.9k subs on Jan 18, 2024.
Thanks for taking me sightseeing. I don't know how your videos are so smooth on those bumpy roads. Peace
Brian, you're moments away from 100k subscribers.
😅 this one made me nostalgic, my Aussie brother married a Pennsylvanian gal.
I watch their visits back home, all across the USA; they live in London UK. 🌏
In less than a month I'll see them here, in Queensland Australia 😊❤🇦🇺
Hi there from lower Alabama! We were out that way just 2-3 weeks ago. Tortilla Flats and the campground there are one of our very fav places. We have driven the wholw Apache Trail many times before it was closed down. Just a gorgeous area and wonderful folks to meet. There's a paddle boat ride on Canyon Lake that gets you up close and personal with the rock walls. There were big horn sheep that posed for pics. Twice a year we are that way as our daughter is in Tempe. Traveling the SW is what we do for ~4mo.
Appreciate your travels and Hobbs. Take care.
I enjoyed your video, my how Tortilla Flats has changed, it's so much bigger than it used to be, I have heard that the original had burned down. I remember driving a few times the Apache Trail from Apache Junction to Roosevelt Lake then up to Payson, it was a long drive but so rewarding.!
What a beautiful place Brian. T y 4 sharing
Hey, I'm seeing 99.9K subscribers! I expect you'll pass the magic mark by the next time I see your channel. Congrats on well-deserved success. Looked like a great day out on the bike. Had mine out this weekend, but it was only 45 degrees down here where I'm visiting the Florida panhandle. Looks like you had much better weather. I've got to get out west some day. Thanks as always for sharing.
Congrats on the 100k Brian! I have been following you from nearly the beginning of your UA-cam journey. It has been awesome to see your account grow which allows you to also maintain more time traveling and less time working for someone else! Take care and stay safe out there. Cheers!
So close to 100K!! Won't be long now!! And well deserved too! Love this video and love to you, K and H! ;)
Nice day trip. Your meal looked so good. The sunset was beyond spectacular!

Hobbs got it right
I never thought the desert would be so beautiful! The lake was like a mirror! Thank you for another beautiful adventure. I am so grateful for the chance to see a different kind of landscape. Born and raised in Wisconsin. Right now enduring sub zero temps, and with the last snow storm 16 inches of snow. Today’s video made it feel much warmer😀Thank you Brian! Hi to Kelly and Hobbs! Stay safe, be well, and enjoy the ride!
I feel just like hobbs in the morning!

The motorcycle was the best upgrade you've made to your travels, definitely opened up your travels.
Thanks for the fun tour😊
Can you imagine the feeling that seeing that lake gave 1st nation and pioneers alike when it came into view? Wow! Lakes in the desert are so incredibly special.
It's a man made reservoir. Formed after the Salt River was damned in 1925.😊
Thank you! There are so many reservoirs. I'm constantly wondering what the land looked like before human modification. 🤔
I hope you hit 100k soon!! I love your beautiful relaxing videos. Thank you!!
Hello and Thank You Brian for another amazing video. 👍 🙌 👀 👂
You know, if you were to take away the cacti, some of those gorgeous scenes could very well pass for parts of New Zealand!! 😊. HI to Kelly and Hobbs. Hopefully Hobbs will let you go on some twosome rides, when it suits 😉🙃💌💌💌🙋♀️🚐🌏🗺🧭🌐
Love watching your progression in this life !!! Will you ever go back to Alaska salmon fishing? Do you ever miss your G20? Great work !!!😎✌️🙏
Manifesting 100k🙏
You always find the most serene and beautiful locations❤️
Brian. Awesome video. Love seeing the Lake and the countryside. I’m excited to see you pass 100k subs.
I was there last,in TF in 1960…..wow what a change ! Also drove through to Roosevelt on a different trip around the same time frame. I did not know about the closing……Thanks for the Vid. 👍🏻 👍🏻
Brian I’m glad you took us on the bike ride. My husband and I traveled the Apache Trail about 25 years ago and ended up at Glen Canyon Dam. What a beautiful ride. You brought back memories so precious. Thanks for the ride! Happy Trails
Finally you’re somewhere I’ve been, Tortilla Flats ate at that restaurant…
I thought of John Steinbeck’s book Tortilla Flats when I first read about the location.. was AZ looking for something to do
Bryan I go wayyy back watching when you first started your channel.. it’s good to see you are well ..
Really enjoyable video! What a wonderful scenic bike ride. That sky out there is so blue! I am in Vermont and it has been a long winter with barely any blue sky....it does have its own beauty though. Love how you end the day with a wonderful meal....I am sure the smell of that spaghetti sauce was driving Hobbs crazy! I used to have a dog who loved spaghetti and used to cry until she got her plate. Thanks for the adventure!
That was a really interesting and beautiful day trip you took us on. Thank you 👍
I use a rechargeable Beard trimmer/ shaver works great and neat, no throw away until the unit dies, I've had mine for years still works great. Watch tomorrow it'll poop on me, Thumbs Up. O by the way I have a full beard right now, ya ya ya...
Been following you for years from the UK
And this recent vlog is why. Just loved it. Don't change your format and by the way Hobbs has mellowed even you. 😂👍
Hobbs gets to "sleep in." After all, he's a senior citizen(and I know how he feels!)lol
The scene at 4:53 is my favorite. It doesn't get any cuter than this!
Brian! Another beautiful video. Sending love to the three of you from Mittry Lake. Raining like crazy here.
Brian thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us. I am so grateful for you and all that you share. I have been watching all your videos for several years and your content is always so informative and beautiful. You Kelly and Hobbs are such an awesome road family. Keep up the amazing work 🙏💪
We were in the same area last March! It was amazing!! I remember picking Cactus needles out of the bottoms of my shoes lol
Cool place and nice ride.Hobbs be smelling the spaghetti. Doggo s don't know when they ate last they just want to eat when you eat.Enjoy your dinner and your time there looks like a fun place to be. Take care. Bye Hobbs.
I just noticed Kelly got rid of the transit, hey Brian can you do a post transit review with Kelly ? His does she like the box truck ? Great ride man living through you guys ❤
Greetings from OKLAHOMA Such a PRETTY area.
All you need is star link and the road paved ! . . . . Then you will have 30 times the traffic ! .,. Thats a nice thing to hope for. . The landscape is gorgeous and pristine. . Let's keep it that way
Not that it matters to you but you're like 2% percent away from receiving your UA-cam button, Congrats because it's coming.
I lived in Payson in the 1990’s, Roosevelt to Tortilla Flats was a wonderful day trip! Sad the road is closed! Great video
A beautiful day. Beautiful lake. A great lake finishing with a home cooked meal. Awesome !!! What more can you ask for
Awesome scenery - well done on your video! I decompressed while I watched that. Felt like I was there. What kind of bike do you have?
Howdy neighbor, I think we were actually there, kayaking that day. Hope we get a chance to catch up.😉✌️
We drove Apache Trail down from Roosevelt Dam a few years back. We were a day or less behind the road grader so the drive was smooth. I hadn't realized the road had been closed. It was a nice drive.
Thanks for the video Brian !
What a fun video! Loved seeing Tortilla Flats. We were there a few years ago, but the road was flooded just past the town. I love AZ in the winter. Would love to return. Insure do enjoy your videos!
What a joy as I sit in 11 degrees of snow filled NY 🌨 another great campsite and so close to 100k Subs 🏕✌🏿
99.8k subs. Not long now til someone gets their very own play button!!! I hope you display it in your van for us all to see✌️
