  • CHIANG MAI, THAILAND - Looking for what to do in Chiang Mai? The Samoeng Loop is an easy road trip from Chiang Mai by scooter. We see a temple, Mae Sa waterfalls, eat khao soi and stop for speciality coffee. It is a fantastic day trip to travel away from the city and into the mountains around Chiang Mai.
    More details:
I visit Wat Phrathat Dio Kham to get incredible views over the city of Chiang Mai before heading onto the main loop and ride through stunning mountain scenery.
We will then stop for lunch at a very local restaurant and eat Chiang Mai's famous dish, khao soi and then move over to Di Bosco Coffee Specialist to taste some locally grown coffee.
Finally we finish the loop at Mae Sa Waterfall, the highlight of the loop in rainy season.

Glad you enjoyed it! Haha, yeah I did see plenty of strawberry farms when I was there actually. Which is funny because I have never seen strawberries for sale haha.

As long as I have lived here, a good road trip is still one of my favorite things to do here in Northern Thailand. There are just so many beautiful places to explore and if you are up for it, there are many great hikes. For beautiful views and spectacular skies, the rainy season cannot be beat. The winter is good for the cooler weather, cherry blossoms and other things.
You are making a good effort with your Thai pronunciation but the more you learn the more interesting it gets. For example the guy at the noodle shop tried to start a little conversation with you by asking where you were going, after you had paid. Being able to converse with normal people away from tourist areas, where they don’t see you as a source of income is very enjoyable. Traveling with someone makes the time go by more smoothly but being on your own does open more opportunities to meet people, like you did at the waterfall.
Personally I find your food presentations a bit long and boring but your drone footage adds a lot to the video. For me, this was your best effort so far.

Without doubt some of my best days are spent on the bike and to be honest, the best moments are when the camera is off. Language, you are right, I wish there was more of a connection sometimes, but I guess that is the reality of moving from place to place, I try and pick up the basics but that is as far as it goes. One of the reasons I enjoyed the Philippines a lot as I could make a further connection with people. Regarding food, sorry you don't enjoy that part. I love food, cooking, eating so it will always be a theme on the channel. Some videos will have none, some will only be about food and some will be somewhere in between. At least you know the bits you can skip over haha.

The moral painting on the roadside wall is fascinating. The artist was painting close to the street with no warning signs or blockades. Quite dangerous. Quite risky.

Hi Joe, interesting journey today, except for the awkward moment (on the Kao Soi shop's owner's part) when he asked you which place have you been to, and I supposed you've missed that question, or just your language comprehension is not enough to carry on the conversation yet, so, you've kept him, unintentionally "hanging," LOL. Glad you like Kao Soi though. By the way, I've noticed that you have the reflective eye color, where the color changes depends on what you are wearing. How neat! Looking forward to your next clip.

Haha yeah, I actually did miss it at the time but obviously saw it on edit. There's just no way I would have understood that. My Thai is so so basic and that will probably never change in the short time I'm here haha. But he seemed happy enough.
It was a really fun day out actually. Thanks foe watching and your support :)

can you imagine, if you get more further to the west you get more influence of burmese, or a little bit more to the north you will get more of chinese or lao cultures, and to the east most of them are cambodian influence and last in the south you will know how will they...this is thailand, this is the land that always welcoming to everyone who wanted to be home..

Glad you enjoyed it :) I have come to realise that perfection in travel doesn't exist and that it is better for me to drop my expectations so I can be grateful and wow'd by what is in front of me regardless. I've been working really hard on that during this trip as things haven't all gone to plan for one reason or another, especially in rainy season.

What you do, this is what you call real tourism.
exploring different areas and traveling alone is the best
Because it can give the best time to yourself.
There is a song in Thailand that once said
If you are hungry, you eat. If you are full, you sleep. You don't have to be in a place that you don't want to be.
and stay where you want to be
Fly like a cheerful bird in the sky

@@hungrytoexplore If you are still in northern Thailand
Around mid-October to February will begin to enter the winter
The greenery will gradually disappear because the trees there are deciduous trees.
When winter comes, the leaves fall to the ground, turning into golden fields.
The cold may not be as much as Europe may be approx. 15-20 degrees Celsius
The night sky is very clear because you can see the stars in the sky clearly.
Riding a motorbike to travel can be very atmospheric.
Thai people tend to gather together to drive motorcycles to the north when winter comes.
But I think for Europeans It shouldn't be thought that this is winter.
only for Thai people The temperature was 20 degrees Celsius, we started wearing thick clothes already.
because we are more used to the heat haha
