- CHIANG RAI, THAILAND - Chiang Rai is home to some of the best temples in Thailand. Today we visit two of the best temples in Chiang Rai, The Black House (Baan Dam Museum) and the Big Buddha. They are both unique and jaw dropping, for differing reasons and some great things to do in Chiang Rai. I have never seen anything like the controversial Baan Dam Museum, curated by Thawan Duchanee and the Big Buddha statue (Wat Huay Pla Kang) is just stunning. Join me as I look around Chiang Rai for my first impressions.
I am so happy to be back on the road in Northern Thailand after the accident and break in Bangkok. Join me as we begin in Chiang Rai as I continue our motorbike journey around Northern Thailand.

What a stunning view of the giant Quan Yin Buddha! How could I missed it when I went to Chiangrai. Thanks for showing this incredible view. I went to the Black temple, it was interesting but there were many things I had missed there and I saw from your video. Thank you for showing us, great video as always. 😉
just for curiosity when were you there? Just to have an aspect on if they added tons of stuff beteween your visit and Joe's (or did I misunderstood you and you just missed parts of it)

Dammit! That would have been a good title. The dark and light side of Chiang Mai… may have to change that before tomorrow haha. Drone makes such an incredible difference to videos, and my enjoyment of an area. It’s the best investment I’ve made

oh Panna, thank you! You are very kind. It does, you are right. It will be only the second Christmas in my life I am not at home. The first was in 2019 when I started travelling for the first time and coincidently I was in Chiang Mai and didn't see any decorations or feel like Christmas at all. I was really bummed out. Hopefully this one will be better but I have kind of written Christmas off as just another day this year as I realised that you can't replace the feeling of being at home with friends and family... it is irreplaceable.
@@hungrytoexplore BKK is crazy about Christmas. They go all out with decorations, I supposed due to many expats living in and around the area, but up north, not so much. Be sure you face time with your loved ones, so you won't feel too depress. You could reach out to Bangkok Pat, you know, and spend some time with him in and around BKK. Gary will be in England, so, we'll miss him until his return. Oh, while you are in Chiang Mai, you might want to contact Lily on her page, to see if you can do a video with her, to help you reach some of her viewers and subscribers. It wouldn't hurt to try. She is in Chiang Mai with her family at the moment, I think. Until next time, stay safe.

Keep waiting for the part of Chiang Rai's street food.
I think my videos on Chiang Rai are more focused on exploring the province than the food. But of course there is some food. I hope you will enjoy the province anyway.
@@hungrytoexplore That's OK. Please raise your voice pitch a bit when you give a narration (not speaking in front of the camera). The low and deep pitch is a bit hard to understand. I'm learning English from your videos. Gary disappoints me very much for this purpose.
