- Are you looking to setup your first workshop? Maybe you're looking for ideas to make your workshop more efficient. Learn from 4 business owners on how they setup their workshops based on years of experience.
In this video we're celebrating reaching 100,000 UA-cam subscribers on Fixing Furniture by showing a tour of our workshop. We have other UA-camrs join in this video including Tom Johnson from @johnsonrestoration, Trena Reynolds from @johnsfurniturerepair, and Ahti Toplaan from @ATRestoration.
Setting up an efficient and pleasant workshop can make your workspace more enjoyable. Scott shares how to maximize the space in a small workshop. Tom and Trena share tips on setting up your first workshop while Ahti provides advice on tools to start with. Of course, we ask them about their favourite tools to use in the workshop.
We've provided links below to a lot more videos, tool plans, and organization products used in our workshop. We hope you find hours of entertainment and helpful resources in this video description... let us know how we did!

Thank you very much Javi! I appreciate that! Scott
CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🎉🎉 for hitting 100K subscribers!!!! Love your channel!!! The tips and tricks are awesome. Although when I had my large workshop, I built childrens toys, like trains; cars, large wooden 4×4's, large doll beds for American Girl dolls, (my wife did all the nattresses, pillows and bedding), puzzles, step stools for little ones to be able to reach the sink, etc. My initial plan was to actually build furniture; and my shop was set up completely for large-scale pieces. However, being a grandpa, requests quickly came in for toys, doll beds, and stepstools. People began seeing my work, I had more requests; and a backlog began, and quite honestly, I found profound pleasure in making children happy. Unfortunately, I developed adult onset of extremely rare genetic diseases for which there are no current treatment or cure, and the rest is too complicated to explain, but long story, we lost our home and my shop due to medical bills, because insurance at the time, did not cover genetic tests. Thanks for sharing these videos, as I do learn a lot from them.
Wishing you continuing success.
Congratulations Scott, well done
Thank you for that!
Thx for sharing and belated congrats. Your voice and mannerism make watching very peaceful and enjoyable.
Thank you kindly!
Congratulations! I am very happy for you. It pays out to do a good job and have stamina!! Well done!

Congratulations! I am very happy that you have reached this milestone, and I wish you continued growth. Also, I appreciate the idea of bringing Tom, Trena and Ahti together, because you four are my favorites in furniture restoration. Greetings from Argentina.

Congratulations on your achievement Scott! I've been a fan (and subscriber) for years now and discovered you, Tom, Trena, and Ahti in my quest to learn the right way, the proper way, to repair and restore furniture - you are all masters in your fields of expertise and I thoroughly appreciate learning and watching each of your channels😍; you are each creating a library of valuable content second to none (all quality - no 'filler'!) for now and future generations.
Awesome! Thank you!
Congrats '
Congratulations Scott and wife! Such a good idea to share your award with others. Thanks for all of the information you share.

Congratulations on your Award - well deserved. I'm in England and have been following you for a long time now, and am always thrilled by your results and ingenuity at overcomig problems. Thanks for sharing your many skills. Take care 🙂

Congratulations Scott. I really enjoy watching you work on your projects but the thing I enjoy most is the information, explanations and pro tips you share in each video. It’s really helpful and also kind of you.
I appreciate that! Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you're enjoying our videos!
Congratulations,Scott! I have really enjoyed seeing my three favourite wood workers, Tom, Trena and you. Thanks and greetings from Spain
🇪🇸 Thank you! Glad to hear you liked the discussions. Cheers
Congratulations on hitting 100k. Great to see Tom, Treana and Ahti too. Been subscribed to them as long as I've been subscribed to you. Great to see the shop tours. Just carving out a little bit of workspace in our garden shed which is about 24 square feet so tiny. Have to get really imaginative with that space.
Thank you. That’s a challenging footprint to work with. There was a great article in the summer issue of Canadian Woodworking that showed small workspaces like that, including a short crawl space. Good luck with your project! Scott
Dear Scott, Congratulations on your success and dedication to restoration. It's interesting that your video featured 4 of my favorites for restoration, including you. So yeah, keep up the great work. Greetings from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Thanks for sharing that and thank you for your support!
Congrats. I really believe you deserve much higher subscription count. You are a good carpenter and a good teacher. I wish your videos were 10 to 15 min long, I believe you would get much more views. I used to watch the whole thing but when videos got too long I could not keep up.
Thanks for the feedback. I make shorter videos on Home Improvement Woodworking. I've found that teaching takes time to convey effectively, hence the 50+ minute videos. Cheers. Scott
I also watch Trena and Thomas. Congratulations on getting to the 100k plateau. I enjoy watching your repairs, I have learned some techniques that I use in repairs at home.
Awesome, thank you! It motivates me to hear you're learning from our videos. Scott
congratulations to you and your family. Just keep it going. Be blessed
Thank you so much!
Wow, four of my favorite UA-camrs in the same video. Congratulations on 100K!
Yay! Thank you!
Congratulations Scott! I love your channel and your calm, professional approach! I have learned a great deal from you! Thanks for sharing your shop with us. It’s encouraging for those of us who have small shops to see such great success without the production shops with all of the expensive space consuming power tools. Thank you!
I appreciate that! Glad you enjoyed looking at the shop. Cheers
Well done on the 100k Scott. Well deserved.
Thank you so much!
Love your channel
Congratulations

Thank you very much and thank you for being a subscriber! Scott
Congratulations! I don't do woodworking but I enjoy the explanations, the demonstrations, and the problem solving. It's always satisfying to see something broken get fixed by an expert.
Thank you very much!
Well done, Scott! Congrats from Brazil!
🇧🇷 cool! Thank you!
Congratulations, and thanks for the many clever techniques) From Siberia with love
Scott: congratulations! I’m so pleased for you. I know it takes a lot of time and work to do a video. This was an excellent video on several counts. I enjoyed it immensely. Again, congratulations. Carol from California
Thank you Carol for all your support over the years!
Hallo Scott,
Thank you Theo. I'm glad you're enjoying our videos!
Geez! I must be one of your most recent subscribers. Congratulations, from someone late to the party.
Thanks for the sub! Glad you discovered our channel! Scott
Thanks! keep'em coming!
Thank you so much Craig! I appreciate your support! Scott
Scott, well done on the 100k subscribers.
Not taking away from the achievement showcasing your skills but the more frequent use of UA-cam was helped by the lockdowns when we could not go out as often and we needed something to keep us occupied - either watching/learning then doing!
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Scott congratulations on 100k subscribers. I have been subscribed to your channel for years and each of the 3 other UA-cam channels as well .
Awesome! Thank you for your support!
Wood ASMR no ad please thank you 🙏
Scott, congratulations! Well done. You brought together an all-star cast, as well. You four UA-camrs are my inspiration and tutors as I have been pursuing my furniture repair and restoration endeavors. Keep up the great work and thank you for investing in these videos. Thank you. - Phil
Ditto!! Love all these channels, plus a few others. I’ve learned so much, and keep watching to learn even more.
Thank you Phil! Happy to hear you enjoyed the cast!
Thanks for your support!
Congratulations, Scott!! So happy for you! I always love seeing how others have set up their shops! Mine is a combination shop...a little woodworking and a little mechanic shop with a bit of clock repair, gunsmithing/reloading and leatherworking thrown in. That makes it challenging to keep everything neat and organized, so I'm happy to get ideas from what others have done. :)
Wow, that's a lot of different work and different tools to organize. Thanks for watching and thank you for your support!
✌
Congrats Scott, Great info on your channel, and you have gotten me through a few furniture repairs I have done TY.
Great to hear! That's awesome! Thank you
Congratulations Scott on your 100k subs! Thanks for your interviews with my other favorite restoration channels and your shop tour.
Onward towards the million subscribers!
Awesome, thank you!
Congrats on utube watchers. Enjoy your work. 🎉
Congrats on hitting the milestone!❤
Im already a subscriber of Trena!
Awesome! Thank you!
@@FixingFurniture Ive been a subscriber of your channel for a few months now too
Congratulations. Love watching your videos....no nonsense just great education. You could use some contemporary jazz, (elevator music as my son would say), in the back ground. Anyway, I started woodworking just before I retired from Baltimore City Fire Department and US Army Reserves both with 37+ years, around 2010. It is an hobby so I would have something to do besides sitting at home not working for a living. Skill wise, I'm not good enough to sell items or to have customers. I don't really do furniture repair, but I have repaired and finish a roll top desk for my wife since she decided for go back to school....I would give it a 75 grade. My first "shop" was a Black and Decker workmate foldup bench. Then at my last home I used the drive way of my one car townhome. I'm now in my two car garage, which only part was to be the shop.. But buying larger, better and more accurate tools, I'm out of space aging. Everything in my shop dose not have a home. Or should I say most things don't have a home, so they are plie up where ever I can find space. I want to build a dedicated shop connected to the garage and give the garage back to my vehicles. I look at a lot of UA-cam shop tours. I like yours not for the size but you have always been a nonsense educator. Almost forgot you mention a magazine Canadian Woodworkers. Do you have a link for subscription?
Congratulations! I remember saying you'd get there. I wish it was sooner for you but you're making very educational and practical videos, compared to silly entertainment, which is highly valuable and you can't under value that.
Thank you so much for your support! I appreciate that! Scott
100k Subscribers😊👍
🎉
Nice
Well done! I love how you teach.😊
Thank you very much! That's great to hear. I appreciate that. Scott
Hearty congratulations on 100K subscribers! Thanks for the tour, too! I especially enjoy seeing fine hand work, but sometimes a power bench tool is just what is needed. Carry on, get that next level plaque from UA-cam! (Grin)
Thank you very much for your support! Scott
Congratulations with the achievement reaching 100.000 subscribers. You have many great videos out now. Can you please recommend some books on old/vintage furniture repair and restoration, both for the hardware part and for the finishing part? Thanks in advance.
¡CONGRATULATIONS!
