  • One simple trick can help ☝🏽
When you squat or crouch down, pay attention, what joint do you bend first? For many people, it’s the knees 🦵🏽
This is one of the main reasons why crouching can be so uncomfortable and why it can can feel difficult or awkward 👀
I see this SO often. Which is interesting because most people use their hips first when they sit in a chair. But without the chair, the knees bend first 🤔
Trying 8-10 repetitions of these squat with a press out can be helpful so your body gets used to moving in this way ☝🏽
Every other day can be a great habit to start with for most people. If things painful for you, try using a chair first. Sit down in the chair while pressing the object out in front ➡️
Whether you have knee arthritis, back pain, hip arthritis or simply just difficulty crouching down- this tip can be incredibly helpful ✅

Yes, your knees will still bend- it’s about what bends FIRST and where you shift your weight. Focus on bending at the hips first.

I personally suffer from backpain and when bowing down to pick something up always stand on one leg and counterbalance with the other by lifting it horizontally and thus the knee doesn't bend very much at all.

You are simply the best. I was paralysed 4 yrs ago. I learnt to walk again with sticks. The a yr ago I had a dreadful fall and did my knees in. I’m in constant pain. My pain killers make me sleep a lot and I haven’t been able to do exercises. I am now in a wheel chair. However I find your exercises are much easier because you explain everything so well. I love your voice and I feel you are my personal trainer and it encourages me to do more and better. Thank you with all my heart and sole. I’m determined to get out of the wheel chair. 🥰👍😇🇳🇿

I practiced this with just getting things out of my walker (and putting things in) and when I dropped anything, using this method also gave me more confidence with less tremors in my ankles and knees. I'm partially paralysed in all 4 limbs, and have tremors in my hands, ankles and knees. I'm able to do most things, just not very well. The spinal compression I have was caused by osteoarthritis. I came back to subscribe to the channel to learn more ways I can make things work for me. Thank you !!

I got a hernia about 14 years ago. I was at the bank, holding my son and dropped a pen. Bent over and felt the tear. It was distinct. I had to have surgery. Ever since then, my method of picking things up has change and I bend at the hips and if its heavy or I have to go fast, I will use my arms or legs as a counterweight to what I am attempting to pick up so that my "trunk" isnt using as much weight, rather, the momentum can assist in the lift.
Also, I have done a lot of weight lifting and my current job requires me to lift 50lbs shoulder level dozens of times a day and a lot of people dont realize how much more efficient it is to brace your arms against your trunk and pull the weight to your chin just using biceps....its a squeeze, but it takes the weight off of your back and especially your stomach and drives it up.
Most times I have to squat or crouch, its to pick something up, which is why I mentioned that. Otherwise......bending over and having one hand on your knee to lock your body in place is probably the best bet.

I know this is exactly how we are supposed to bend. My problem is that ever since I had both hips replaced, in 2012, the left one just always has less range of motion. I also have a bulging disk in my lower back and general arthritis in my entire spine. So, I just can't ever bend down low without a concerted effort. If I spill something, I go get my kneeling bench and use it to get down and back up. I think I need to get about 2 or 3 more and scatter them throughout the house! But honestly, I would like this overall stiffness to get better and your videos are so great for this!❤
