- This started out as a jam with my all-time favorite app Samplr by Marcos Alonso. I was also curious how the Particle 2 would sound on drums : : surkid.com

The instant I thought "this sounds kind of like Kid A", I spotted the album sleeve. Really nice work.
This is wonderful!
Came here to see Red Panda Particle2, and then you reminded me how cool Samplr is (which I have already).
Now I have to dig deeper, into Samplr and learn how all the features work 🎶❤
Just stumbled across this. It's rare to stumble across music this good these days! I'm buying a Red Panda!
yeah where is there music? if only there was a digital framework that remembers all the music past and present you could use and makes it immediately accessible to anyone at the click of a button
wow this is so good
GENIUS!
Thank you for the track and the inspiration
Beautiful
this is awesome
Welcome to the future. Let say it's 1986; looking at this, who'd have thought we'd ever be able to make music on a flat portable monitor... I love this! #SAMPLR
Amazing
Wow! Awesome creativity.. And just awesome!
Brilliant...yes🔥
this is friggin' fantastic, man. bravo!!
This is simply great, awesome song!
Love your jam, really amazing ! Particle 2 sounds very good, need one ^^
Great stuff!
Listen to some of your stuff, nice melodic Radioheadish touch. Really like it
wow man.. You did it again. Love how simple and complex you create new tracks
Love this one! Nice job 🙌 Love your Setup, gosh, I’m also so inspired by my Particle
Interesting setup and wonderful music, thank you for this! As a Particle 2 owner, was really inspired by your approach to this powerful device!
Nice! Really enjoyed that! Yes🔥🔥🔥
Sweet jam! Awesome setup.
this was so good.
Sweet!!
wow
Your channel is ridiculously under subscribed. Fantastic music :)
Sooooo good. I would love to dive in to your set ups.
Dope
... this is ...I am stunned ... not sure how to describe it .....just thank you for sharing this with us ...... this is trully amazing piece. You should be scoring movies, you got the dna, simple as that.
Wowza.... killer
that was so good
so good bro
🔥🔥🔥
excellent
This was the best thing I've heard in a long time
Wow, really inspiring stuff. I really need to practise more with Samplr, love the vocal you play with here.
thanks man! practicing Samplr is a rewarding thing! 👌🏻
@@surkidmusic thanks for the reply! Can I ask one more thing? How are you sending the tempo / clock to Samplr? Is it from the Rytm? Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks! :)
hej hej, in this case the midi clock is coming from ableton live running in the background. the ipad is connected to my macbook and i’m sending the clock through the regular lightning cable using an app called studiomux (using a virtual midi bus). however, if you’re using ableton and the latest version of samplr you can easily sync the tempo using ableton link... hope that sheds some light...
@@surkidmusic ah thanks, that's great to know! :) I have Ableton, will give that a go. But I really want to just have clock coming from my Digitone to the iPad and Samplr, seems to be very difficult to find the correct cables! Not sure if I can just do that with cables, or need an audio interface for the iPad. :)
basically all you need is a class-compliant midi interface in the shape of a cable... this one will do the job... m.thomann.de/gb/esi_midimate_ex.htm
Awesome jam! Radiohead vibes.. Just ordered one of these!
NICE LIVE
This is insane
Smooth!
How even the fuck, oh my god. Dude you’re one badass mofo. Thank you for sharing your art.
awesome! beautiful! tasty!
perhaps you don't care, but you deserve WAY more followers for sure, this content is too good. I'm very, very inspired by your work. Do you record everything into loops in ableton and use the midi twister to punch in and out?
oh and I just noticed the Kid A vinyl, nice tip of the hat!
yay, thanks mate! likewise, new subscriber here! and yes you’re right! for this song, i’m using the midi fighter to select the instrument (that i want to play on the reface keyboard) and to launch clip recordings on the fly that will run in a loop once recorded. cheers and keep up the good work!
@@surkidmusic Thanks man. I love your work. I really admire your minimalist setup. It shows that good songwriting is not a product of tools, but of the artist. I'm gonna grab your EP
Great!!! Reminds me of RADIO HEAD
nice! :)
well this is lovely. i'm trying to convince myself i totally need a particle 2. gas for the sake of gas.
🖤
Incredible work man. Beautiful tones you're pumping out of that gear. If I may, what midi control surface is that? Looks beautiful!
Thanks Angel, do you mean that MIDI controller the front? It's a Midi Fighter Twister!
Hello, this is beautiful ! Nice jam really. I got an iPad with lightning port. How do you clock your ipad with your Daw or external clock? I mean which adapter ? For exemple i would like to use :
lightning or USB --------> midi port
i Heard it need to be charged at the same time .. is that thrue ? Or maybe you use the bluetooth for the clock Sync?
Ok just beginner with iPad and lightning connection .. maybe you know tricks
Thanks !
Really cool. Whats the ipad app? Doesnt look like tardigrain
Hej, it’s called Samplr.
Loved this! How did you get the Yamaha CP to sound so full? Which setting did you use?
Hej thanks a lot Matthew! In fact the reface CP did not make any sound at all. I'm using it as a MIDI controller keyboard only. In this case it's sending MIDI to my DAW running the "Noire" piano by Native Instruments. This one sounds full indeed!
Awesome job, bro! How are you able to get that reverse piano sound at 1:45? Is that the Particle 2?
thanks mate! no, the particle 2 is only affecting the drums. i've loaded the beginning of the following piece into the samplr app and played it backwards: ua-cam.com/video/fD7zJxeOCk0/v-deo.html
This or the microcosm?
Excellent work. Is the red panda particle 2 better than other pedals that do similar fx?
I'm afraid i can't answer that as i don't own many pedals but i honestly think that the particle 2 sounds pretty unique and the killer feature for my needs is that it runs in stereo!
This is seriously good. Well done!
What is your MIDI/Audio setup from the iPad - and I'm assuming you have it synced to a DAW off camera?
hej thanks! it's quite some time ago but if i remember correctly i've been using an app called Studiomux to send audio and midi-clock from the ipad to my laptop with just the lightning cable. and yes there was Live 9 running in the back! 👌
@@surkidmusic Thanks! so Samplr doesn't generate MTC to sync with a DAW?
And BTW - how do you like the RYTM?
No Samplr does not generate MTC but it can follow a MIDI Clock. Since last year or so it also supports Ableton Link which is even more convenient. Now to the Rytm: I'm not a fan of its analog engines, the pads or the weird usability but mangling and and tweaking samples with the great sequencer gives me unheard sounds which I enjoy a lot! For me it's a keeper!
What’s the 4x4 knob device that I’m guessing is controlling MIDI CCs? Is that a FaderFox device?
Hej, it’s a Midi Fighter Twister! (and yes MIDI CCs only here)
Great sounds! Is that the secret piano in the CP or a VST piano?
Thanks, I really dig the secret one but in this case it’s Noire by Native Instruments!
Absolutely beautiful performance!
Questions for you please; what do you use to sync the Red Panda Particles 2?
hej thanks a lot! tbh i don’t sync the particle here (and so far i never did) but afaik it can sync to incoming midi clock.
@@surkidmusic I was able to sync Particles perfectly today using a Lehle MIDI Cable SGoS. Thank you for your response
Will this be on out on any platforms or vinyl?
Thanks, but I'm afraid that's not planned at the moment.
@@surkidmusic ok, thx for the reply. I'll listen to it here then 👍
So Radiohead
hello my man! this is so good. if i may ask, where did you get that gentle ride cymbal sound? i've looking for something like that. is it a sample? or virtual drummer?
hej mate, i dig that ride, too! it’s the „custom and vintage“ library for superior drummer! old but still good!
@@surkidmusic brilliant. thank you
@@surkidmusic thank you for getting back to me. i've had a look at superior drummer (amongst a few others such as the N.I. equivalent) - is the virtual drummer playing along to this in a DAW or have you uploaded a sample of the ride, to the RYTM?
yes exactly, there is a midi loop playing in my DAW to trigger the ride samples in superior drummer, i did not upload that sample into the rytm as i wanted round robin and stereo. hope that helps, cheers!
@@surkidmusic awesome, thanks for explaining. virtual drummers (superior drummer, addictive drums, studio drummer etc.) probably deserve more credit as production tools really
Hi Surkid. Which app are you using for the iPad??
Hej hej, in this video it’s a gorgeous app called Samplr!
@@surkidmusic thanks bro!!! BTW congrats your videos are beautiful. Greatings from Spain!
could you explain how do you have your twister configured ? I assume you use it with Ableton. Are you using specific maps to be able to do the things you do with it?
hej thanks! yes, there is live 10 running in the background and i’ve created a special twister mapping for just this project. i’m using the twister to arm midi tracks and to launch and stop clip recordings in different scenes. since i’m not too much into scripting i’m using the remotify web interface (remotify.io) to create custom mappings.
The 2 dislikes is jealousy for not being able to make as good music;-)
curious how you sync'd your samplr to the elektron clock? cool sounds!
thanks! both rytm and samplr are getting their MIDI clock from ableton live (which is the clock master). the rytm gets it via USB and samplr via the lightning cable using an app called studiomux! with the latest samplr update this should be even easier...
@@surkidmusic thanks for the quick response! i just got the latest samplr too!
