Hullámvasút (Front Seat POV) - Vidámpark Budapest Hungary

- Hullámvasút is a rare example of a wooden scenic railway roller coaster with a brakeman riding on board. The coaster was built in 1922 although didn't open until 1926. I visited Vidámpark in Budapest, Hungary, in 2005 as part of the European Coaster Club Rhapsody Tour. Video shows a complete front seat ride on this historical rarity. Sadly the coaster has been closed for a number of years, as the park closed in 2015. Hopefully the ride will continue to be maintained and will open again in the near future.

I loved this when I was a child .... tried it million times !!
So cool that you captured this ride on video! I only drove past it when it was already defunct..
There's some more footage to come from that park...just edited a number of videos from our 2005 visit!
Pretty awesome for the time!
Budapest megérdemli egy új hullámvásút és egy igazi vidámpark.
Egyetértek - szomorú volt látni a parkot bezárva, és attól tartok, hogy a hullámvasút most elrohad.
Scenic "right next to the local interstate" coaster, haha. Still cool to show one of the rare brake operated coasters. (I may of watched at 2x speed)
It was pretty slow - but nonetheless very pleasurable
was that dude in charge of the on-ride photo at 3:12
No - I think he was just grabbing some photos of us riding...but cannot spot who it is on the video
did somebody say Pacing issues?
just kidding, so good to see true history on video. thanks for posting
It's a slow ride, but an important one historically - would love to think it will run again
@@davidjellis Inactive for some time now, however, still popular in the hearts. She gave so many people a good time over the last 100 years (that's exactly how old is she today). Almost certainly she shall operate again, just a question of time. But that damned money sucking unfinished biodome project just delays it to the possible very end 🙁
@@gaborkovari5093 are they planning on fixing the coaster after the biodome is complete?
@@FlyingSpaghettiMonster2000 Looks like biodome will open sooner than the rollercoaster would awake...Just heard about the real story lately. Poor thing had its last maintenance work in 2015! Man, for 7 years noone cared about this vintage wonder! The zoo surely intends to get rid of it. They can't tear it down being a monument ride protected by law. But simply leaving to its fate is not prohibited. Without repairs it will soon be so dangerous they have to put it down before collapsing. If they wanted to reopen it, they would do the regular maintenance work so they would start renovating in good shape if time comes for kicking it alive again. As can be seen, shamefully that's not the situation.
The slowest yet.
Yes it is not the fastest of its type...but was a privilege to ride something so rare and historical
