    30% is amazing! but it also depends on the popularity of the car, the desirability and dealer mark ups. you couldn't get 30% off on a 2020 corvette for example so also choose your car carefully. it's easier to get a deep discount on an Elantra than a Civic.

      Sticker price is there to make the buyer feel good. It was never a real price in the first place. I don’t think you can outsmart the dealer, they’re the ones that do this every day.

    Do you want a good deal? Make sure to treat your salesman with the utmost respect, they are people too. I don't mind showing how much we paid for the car aka invoice. But if you think that you can come in and offer me $15k on $25k car because it's your budget, then you are most likely going to remain in the market for too long my friend. Negotiating a deal is an art, customers do it once in 5-10 years, dealers every day. Again, do your research, land yourself on the right make, model and trim and go from there. Use third party websites like Truecars to get the fair value and negotiate based on the fair market value - easy. Good luck!

    Only bought 1 car but it wasn’t all about trying to squeeze the dealers for the best price possible. I simply liked the people at a dealership better so I gave them my business.

    Good tips. My problem is finding the car I want with the trim I want, and the options that I want. So far, I think that I’ll need to order the car. How much can that situation be negotiated?

    My mom bought a 2019 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD and we sat for HOURS while I just looked in an HRV EX that was in the showroom. But that time played because she got 3,000 off of her CRV

    best leverage is go to dealer when you dont need or care about getting a car... and be prepared to walk out.... EXAMPLE... ROLLED IN WITH 2006 CIVIC .... they had ad for $250/mo lease .... offered me $2000 and settled on $4000 value for civic ... then mats and other bs... included ... I actually got up and started for the door ... sales mgr came over and asked what does it take.... LEFT WITH NEW CAR

    AVOID DEALERSHIP FINANCE DEPT......

    • @leeg3784
      @leeg3784 5 років тому

      Yes. I'm surprised they didnt mention the finance manager AND accessories sales person who apply pressure on a customer to pay for add-ons. That's where dealerships make the most $$$. Come prepared to put up a firm NO with this person.

  • @richdc7654
    @richdc7654 5 років тому

    I just use Carbargains. www.checkbook.org/carbargains/
    It costs $250 but I've never paid more than $1,500 UNDER "DEALER COST." I've bought 6 cars through them over 25 years with no hassle. Its hard to assess how your deal compares since you only talk about MSRP, don't say whether you got a leftover 2019 at the end of the model year or a 2020, what manufacturer incentives were available, etc. And to make things even more complicated, you don't say whether you had a trade in and what you got for it, whether you financed through the dealer and what terms you got, etc. So there are many variables that affect the deal. But as long as you are happy with the deal and the car, that's what matters. Enjoy and congratulations!

    • @semperfi1000

      @Ptguy0618 It really depends on how much money he has doesn't it? Do you really think Donald Trump spends hours negotiating what he will pay for a car? If Bill Gates drops a hundred dollars, its not worth his time to pick it up.

    I have a question if anyone can help please! I have started my "shopping" totally early. there's a volvo I want in California. they emailed me with their generic email of "what is it you're interested in, and what are some details" and I returned in reply stating that I was wondering if the certain car I was interested in was price negotiable because it said it was 9 percent higher than the average vehicle. I said If not let me know and I will go to my local st Louis dealership and talk to them. I left it with let me know whenever you have time. i havent received any reply and that was 5 days ago? just wondering if thats normal. kinda feeling like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. 😔

  • @stevewise1656
    @stevewise1656 5 років тому +1

    This is silly...guys, do your research and give them your offer for the vehicle and ask for everything you want. Let the dealership meet the price or go elsewhere. This shouldn’t take two months. Don’t go in the dealership until you have everything on paper and go straight to finance.
