    Bitter vet here as well. I've played on and off since 1.x. I too miss the " everyone meets in a giant furball and last man flying wins. Unfortunately, MMO games with heavy focus on rewarding skill over number of hours spent grinding don't do well enough to make enough money to survive. So WG changed the game to a " sneak around and capture ground targets" focus. When that didn't produce the desired results, they introduced " power creep". It began with the B-29c, and every tier VIII premium since has been an attempt to counter the massively overpowered bomber. The XP-54 at tier VI was WG's response to those who called the Messerspit OP, which it was...WG was like " hold my beer, I give you a heavy that out turns all multi roles and even most light energy fighters...The problem isn't that people fly these planes, but that some low talent players who LIVE in them. You all have seen players who never fly anything besides these OP airframes. I for one will occasionally take the P-61 out for lols, but fly a single mission, and usually need a shower afterwards. I recieve many chat bans for calling out these players for what they are...stat padding exploiters.

      I miss the furballs and four minute matches myself. In fact, I have a few recorded that will show up here eventually.
      I've found that the toxic players are generally just encouraged by anything aimed their way - they are trolls and feed off the frustration of those they encounter. So I aim not to give them any food.

    New sub here😊 I’m just two years into this game. I really like it. I’m fine with the small population. Isn’t the worst part the OP Planes (P-61 mainly) and the grumpy players. I’m cool with just slugging it out and either winning or losing. It’s a game and we’re supposed to be having fun🤷🏼 Just my thoughts. Thanks for the content!

    Love the K-6. That and the P-40N are two of the funnest reward planes I've flown, though neither are specialized yet. Both of them are powerful at their tiers.
    I didn't start playing WoWP until about 3 to 4 years ago, well after 1.x was a distant memory. I think one of the biggest challenges for a new player coming into the game cold is that it's not obvious what you need to do to win the battle. I've lost count of the number of new players that are like "WTH? I had the most points of anyone and we still lost?!?".
    I came from Ships, and most of the games I played there were won by elimination, and the capture points earned were rarely a deciding factor. I think Tanks is the same way (I have like 4 games in Tanks...I do NOT understand armored warfare). Neither of those games have (or had at the time) respawn. With respawns in Planes (I think squall sets in at at the 7 minute mark), completely eliminating one side is a rare occurence (though I'll always savor my right at the deadline pop of the last red plane to get a 800:800 victory :) ). Hence the completely different style of play in this title vs the other 2.
    Players also need to understand that this not a flight sim - it's an arcade game that pretends to be a flight sim. As I used to say on the forums, learn the environment of the game and operate within it's limits (and exploits).
    One thing I don't understand is the difference between Persia and WG - are the folks working on the game in Kyiv WG or Persia?
    To be honest, I don't know if I would have enjoyed 1.x as much as I enjoy 2.0. I've never been a huge fan of straight PvP, and if my experience in Ships is any indication, I'd probably be a constant early exit. Then again, I've spent time and effort to learn and understand this game, and benefitted from a number of players willing to invest time in helping me get better.
    It would be nice if there was an option for straight PvP - I'd even dabble in it - but the closest you could get now is a training room where everyone agrees you don't respawn. Well, ok, your plane will respawn eventually unless it's squall, but you agree not to fly it. But training rooms cost silver and that could get expensive. So yeah...that really wouldn't work.

      Persha is the design studio in Kyiv doing the WoWP work for Wargaming. As separate from the Tanks team in Russia.

      Eric is correct about the difference between WG and Persha. Most players lay the blame at Persha's feet rather than WG. Early exits were a thing in 1.X, but the games rarely lasted more than 3-4 minutes. They were furious furballs of death and destruction, and then you immediately queued up again. But the plane imbalance got the better of the formula, and Persha would not course correct. The closest thing we have now would be Attrition in a training room. And honestly, I don't think we were opposed to respawns even in 1.X. The issue was the PvE elements meant people would not engage, and it having even a one or two plane disadvantage in the furball was a death sentence (also why 3 man flights regularly won 90+% of their games).

    Bitter veteran here. But I got over it, because this game is still fun, even though underneath, it's a completely different thing than it used to be. It took me a long time to shed my desire for the old game.
    The 109K-6 is a monster. I might disagree with you that it is not overpowered. Yes, bottom tier it can be tricky to make work, but those big guns make up for lack of turn and airspeed when flying at Tier VIII.
    It utterly dominates pretty much every Tier VI plane, and most of Tier VII. When you can knock down B-32s with ease, your plane is pretty powerful.
    Flying with new folks is a think that veterans should do regularly. It's too bad we don't do more to mentor new pilots.

    • @AytchZero
      @AytchZero  Місяць тому +1

      I do think it's overpowered...just that it's not meta breaking the way the P-61 or tier 10 bombers are.
      I will say it's okay to he a bitter vet - I'm one as well after all - but the ones I'm worried about seem keen to poison the well (consciously or unconsciously). You don't strike me as one of those!

    Hi Hzero , Who are you calling bitter vet? any example , and what turn you on to buy k6?

    • @AytchZero
      @AytchZero  Місяць тому +1

      Not calling out anyone in particular. Somedays I'm a bitter vet, somedays I'm fine. Just something we all need to be aware of.
      I bought the K-6 ultimately because I wanted a premium version of the Bf-109. I will probably pick up the E-3 as well if it goes on sale again this June. I really wish they would just let us "talisman" our favorite planes like you can do in War Thunder and Armored Warfare.

    As a Noob, I think what bothers me most about the game are the Seal Clubbers. In reality, they don't really bother me much because I have many games in World of Tanks and World of Warships, but even so it grates on me. Looking at some dude's overall record and finding he has played 9K games in some Tier III is somewhat less than awe inspiring. In fact, if I was a new Wargaming player I would find it rather disgusting. I think it is actually WORSE in WoWP than WoTs and much worse than WoWS. Weird, very weird.
    A close follow is the fact that I cannot quickly get decent stats on myself. It took me FOREVER to find where I can get a WR and game count per warplane. That is a basic stat that I can use to better my game. It's weird that it is not front and center. I can use it as 'a game within a game' to have a reason to jump into a plane to improve myself in that plane.
    Finally, something you touched on: When you ask for help you are immediately yammered at with ways to min-max your specialized Tier X aircraft in a line you are not even participating in. At first I just kinda smiled. A gamer being a gamer. But, it is constant. That happens in WoWP far more than it happens in WoWS or WoTs. I don't understand it. I asked a basic question: 'What is the pilot skill progression that I should follow for the German Light Fighters (109s)?' If you take a peek at the community (great players) generated 'Captain Builds' document in WoWS ( docs.google.com/document/d/1XfsIIbyORQAxgOE-ao_nVSP8_fpa1igg0t48pXZFIu0/edit#heading=h.90uv0gzdoidw ) you will find your ship, and a good (general) skill build per ship and ship line. Zip, zero, nada in WoWP. What I get when I ask (unless I absolutely grind the question) is a list of specialized equipment and an unordered 15 point pilot skill map. Weird, very weird.

      Somehow this got caught in my spam filter (maybe the docs link). The wild hall of fame (aka 9k in t3 stuff) is why its more difficult to find stats. They tried to hide basic things like KDR to discourage stat stuffing. As you can see, it didn't work. You are spot on about the recommendation issues. Most of the vet pilots assume specced plane, high point pilot, top gear. But I am hoping to give reasonable advice. I think this needs to be a new line of videos for me honestly. Specifically for the 109 line, I would start with Marksman I to help with the anemic firepower in most of the line. Then my next two points would be Aerobatics or Aerodynamnics (prob Aerodynamics from t5 on). Next two would be whichever of those I was missing. The next point after that I would respec and remove the most recent pick and replace it with Marksman II. Then I would cover whichever Aero I did not have yet. Other pilots will give you different ideas but for this line, that would be my progression from scratch. For equipment, I would just put basic stuff to save tokens, and for this line it would generally first be Gunsight, Polished Skin, Lightweight Powerplant, and Gas Operated Action (respectively).

    This game is still alive? Dang.
    Is it still battles with like 4 players and the rest are bots with "player like names"?

    • @AytchZero
      @AytchZero  Місяць тому

      Depends on the server and the time of day. The EU server is usually pretty full. The NA server will be 3-5 players per side during prime time. The rest of the time its usually 1-2 per side. WG has committed to keeping it online, thankfully. We get about 4 new planes a year, sometimes brand new (P-61, MB.5), sometimes variants (Tempest PV, P-40N). We have probably one big event per month and then weekend events as well, just like WoT. Even have a crossover active with the Iron Maiden Spitfire. 😄
