Just got my first American this week from best hat store. I was helped heavily in the fb group. I got a 40x chocolate 7 3/4” with 4 1/4” brim. In the future I think I will get a 4 1/2” brim and a steel color and straw for summer matches(shot with an American made shiloh sharps rifle). Love the show and American made products 🇺🇸

I only like straw hats with real leather sweat bands to me the just hold on to your head better for me. I have a Milano straw hat with a cloth band doesn't feel right to me. And it's dirty with dust ,dirt- n sweat from the farms I hunt and work on.
Question about rain. I'm in the market for a 200X or 500X and I want to be able to take a long walk in the rain. Should I waterproof the felt or can they survive on their own?

I agree. if you are paying $150+ for a hat, it should have a really nice leather band in it.
