Why Apple Removed The Gun Emoji
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 тра 2024
- In 2010, the unicode consortium approved of a new emoji called Pistol. And companies like Apple added it to their platforms. Most of them created realistic designs for the emoji, modeled after real-life pistols. While Microsoft’s looked more like a ray gun from a science fiction movie. But in iOS 10, Apple was the first to update the emoji. From a real pistol, to a plastic water gun. Other companies like Google and Samsung followed suit, but why was this change made?

You're looking for "portrays" rather than "portraits". To portray is "describe (someone or something) in a particular way."
Portrait on the other hand is 1. a painting, drawing, photograph, or engraving of a person, especially one depicting only the face or head and shoulders. or 2. higher than it is wide.

The Bomb Emoji Why Get That
It’s very hard to connect the dots from a person like myself who lived before the Internet was popular. As kids we used to pretend to play guns with our fingers as kids did back then with no malice or harm to the people we were playing with. So with everyone up in arms about a gun emoji, it seems rather over the top, although I can see how it pertains to the concerns relating to the mass shootings in America recently.
those games do not immediately turn into something horrible, but in my country disassembling weapons on school classes seem funny at first, we were happy to run around the school with a ak(the barrel was sealed) in a gas mask and pretending to shoot everyone, and now guess why there is so many violence in post-soviet countries. america has just left that behind a while ago

We also do blame cars in some way. At least where I live, roads are (re)designed to prevent human error as much as possible. And cars are getting safer and safer with more safety requirements or get banned from certain areas.
And yeah… I do blame the gun. They are a bad thing and it should be not so easy to get one. Luckily, that is also the case where I live.
I do blame the lack of background checks and registries. Nobody needs an AR-15 just like they don't need grenades.

It’s literally just a crime issue that’s being blamed on inanimate objects while the real cause is the lack of laws being enforced and weak prosecution.
@@solidslicc707 Nah can't fix that problem, we need to defund the police because the police are racist /s
@@AdamSmith-gs2dv Ain’t a big fan of govt myself and believe govt is dangerously too powerful in this day in age, though statistics, especially recent ones from 2-years-ago when the US was in chaos, have shown that crime skyrocketed in the major cities where the police where defunded. That led to a lot of those cities such as Baltimore for example to eventually increase funding for the police higher than it was before they were defunded. Bad police will pretty much exist no matter what, but there are victims of police brutality of every race and not just black people. Tony Timpa, who was killed while being arrested and Daniel Shaver, who was shot while trying to comply with police orders in a hotel hallway are two recent examples of white people being subjected to police brutality, which imo were probably some of the worst examples of it. That is exactly why we have a strong justice system in this country, to hold abusers of power accountable. You break the law, you get punished. With the amount of heat the police have gotten in recent times, I’m sure many officers are probably a lot more careful with their jobs because they don’t want to end up in shit themselves. Though having a local law enforcement with limited power is a lot better than having an extremely strong federal law enforcement like the Gestapo of Nazi Germany, and I don’t think I need to explain why on that one.
