Good game from Ruhan Nel but that knock🙈
😅😅they get too excited that’s why
I agree with the first red. That's terrible tackling technique. Doesn't even try to drop his shoulder and tackle the man. Smashing heads together at speed could give you serious brain damage.
Go Stormers 🔥
Down by 2 men for almost the whole 2nd half but still win the 2nd half. Could have been a lot worse for Irish.
One thing about our South African sides. We don't put the opposition away. Here by the 60th minute they basically just stopped playing....was happy with just defending. It's an old trend. Springboks does the same thing
Great Stormers keep going & conquering
Los equipos sudafricanos tienen definitivamente otra dinámica de juego. Es gusto verlos jugar ...
Can't wait to see the boys live in Cpt.
Ruhan Nel is so underrated!!!
And soo sloppy
I am a Stormer supporter, but how do you really go into the sheds after the game and have a conversation on positives or negatives in the match when you played against 13 men. How do you know whether you improved from your previous match? The victory seems hollow and that is a shame.
As a neutral I have to agree.
As a neutral, I also agree. I guess it’s just one that you call a win and move on from. Not much else to be done really
Well, I've got news for ya'll 'neutrals', this is a very well deserved win. The fact that an opposition team allowed themselves and the referee to reduce them to 13 men he as absolutely nothing to do with the Stormers' execution.... So, lullaby to you... 🙂

Isaac, with no due respect, the tenor of your comment suggests that your head is tuck up your arse, which would explain why you have completely missed the point.
London Irish are nearly always in with a chance in their matches, but are let down by discipline or switching off. Both red cards 100% justified.
Has there been a game this season that Irish have finished with 15?
They'd be in the top four of the Premiership if only for disciplinary issues.
@@BillyBatts714 that's the second game in the last 5 that Irish have finished with 13. I'm an Irish fan and watch every game, and most of the premiership games. Im certain the stats would show Irish have more yellows & reds than most.
rugby is broken
@@Daniboi971 I don't think
Thank God it's not a South African side. I can just see all the negative comments about thugs and this and that
@@dn822 every side should be subject to criticism, SA teams aren’t exempt there..
Remeber when the Europeans keeps saying, Springboks are thugs. - Remember to show them this video. Reds and yellows galore.
not really - min 'thuggish' play in this game (and im s.african)
@@aleccastro4761 you not getting my point.

What happened in the second half?
Well done Stormers!
It's not easy going up north
Embarrassing to concede 2 tries playing 15v13
It is but its actually quite common to concede tries when you're up a man. Why? I do not know.
@@LB_die_Kaapie but 2 men??
Stormers have been looking disorganised and not really in the form they were the past few games
Should have been 3 but TMO was AWOL
take a loss man stormers would of smashed them regardless they were never gonna beat us😂
Why couldnt the Stormers wear their blue and white kit?
Its not only the red cards. Too many Grey rules. Penalties/ referees impact on a game is too much. Rugby is in trouble.
These are red cards clear af - reckless and with force the first one, shoulder to the head with no arm the second one
The reds were correct. None of you are impressing anyone playing tough from your couch.
For more than 30 min in the 2nd half the STO did not score a point against 13. If not for the red cards LIR would probably got it close or won the game. Poor by STO and well done by LIR with only 13 on the field.
this doesnt seem to be their strongest team though
Second half the STO legs were tired. Remember they've been travelling a lot. It is good to win even when you get lucky sometimes.(red cards)
What were they supposed to do? Show all their cards and put 100 points on this team? They already had the bonus point. I think it would be unfair to play hard on a match that you are definitely going to win against a team with 13 men . I will rather watch a close game than a game where the one team with 15 men is battering a team with 13 men unless needed. I am a stormers supporter by the way.
This is wishful thinking, especially considering when both teams had 15 players? Stormers were clearly the better team.
@@jadenphilander8799 thats why I guess they stopped playing hard.
Good
The best team⚡️🇿🇦🫶🏾
Alot of players going off feet at the ruck (& from the side), but not penalized?
Again the stormers going to sleep in the second half. Still a win, but I just want to know what the mental mindshift is about during halftime
Could be because they have been flying around like mad. They are tired dude. They're not robots. It makes sense to me
Agree. Always sleeping in the second half smh
It's annoying *AF!* We're never going to win any competitions playing like this (IE. going to sleep in the 2nd half) 😠
@@Keizer_Soze we already have won a tournament, so calm down!
@@Treefellow1 this current form will be okay for most URC sides. But if we do end up getting to the champions cup finals, in Dublin, against let's say Leinster. One half performances won't cut it.
Why are the stormers playing in grey?
Easy win. Wow
Playing against 13 the stormers should see that scoreline as an absolute loss. Should have scored at least 3 more tries.
Shoulda, woulda, coulda... It's a bonus point win away, swallow that.
@@isaacmolefenyokong7776 stormers are my 2nd team. Just saying I'm disappointed that they couldn't capitalise on the numbers advantage.
That second red card was exactly the right call, the offending player deserved to be sent off. The first one though, surely it being accidental should mitigate down to a yellow.
Good win for the Stormers though, their running game is sensational this season!
Accidental isn’t a mitigating factor
1st red is justified, tacklers responsibility to tackle safely, and he stayed upright with an extremely poor tackle tech. When he inevitably goes to tackle school, going down with shoulders in line with hips will be drilled. Albeit he probably stayed upright to stop the pass and tackle the ball to prevent that pass.
Pardon me, but is Paddy Jackson out injured?
probz. could be worse considering the time of season
Grateful for the "win", *BUT* ...red cards should *only* be given for actual foul play. Stuff like eye-gouging, stuff that Darcy Swain or little Nicky White does, etc. All these red cards are *ruining* the game! Fking *pathetic!*
Heavens, can someone teach the Stormers to tackle already ? >
That goes for L. irish too
@@karlosdeevs You'll get no argument from me there ^^
How can you have a fair game when referees decisions have such an impact on a game. Deliberate head clashes should be punished, but to be fair, most of the red cards I’ve seen this year have not been that malicious. Just because there’s a clash of heads it shouldn’t be an automatic red
Was thinking the same.
I don't see how there were no mitigating circumstances in the second sending off, given how low the Stormer's player was.
The first one looked a tad harsh too.
As a Stormers supporter I would rather lose against a full strength team than win against half a team.
It is strange that English teams , that compete every week-end in a championship considered one of the most physically demanding of the World, are so in trouble against South Africans teams. In this match there has been a certain gap in physicality between the two teams and SA were, in my view, more "tough". Such a gap is not so evident against Leinster, Munster or Ulster...
There's no depth in the English game at the moment. The salary cap has killed the squad sizes. Just look at Exeter, they lost, what 7 of their 2020 winning 23 and they've got another 4 or 5 leaving this summer. Even Saracens, they don't have much depth if you look closely. Some of their first choice squad are pretty old.
@@somersetfan1 , could LIR try to consider to "build- up" more young players from their " Rugby school" to gradually insert in first squad? It is told that SA franchises have got lots of 19 - 20 years old players who are neary ready for high level pperformances
@@simonecanepa721 alot of them played today; hartzenberg shasha Connor Evans and can go on and on. Over 600 pro SA players play abroad; so SA teams are forced to play these young bucks
Let’s condition this on the fact it is London Irish - there was a red card. Would things been any different without the red card, probably not. What is interesting does SA not have its own domestic league? If they are all so amazing you should fill 30 teams no?
*red cards.
If you are going to put in a performance like that there is no point in turning up for the game.
Stormers were so disappointing. Wasted the entire 2nd half. It's going to come back and bite them in their bums 🇿🇦
Overzealous officials and their red cards are killing the game, especially for the spectators. The IRB will only do something when the fans get so fed up that they stay away from games. Money could force the necessary change.
The head on head rule is such a harsh one for defenders. Stormers applied pressure causing the infractions though.
It's a tough one - I don't like the way they apply the laws but I could also see that Manie was running at a set height and did not dip into the tackle. The laws require a lower tackle so the ball-and-all is a risky option these days and the defender had all the time to go lower. When the penny drops for defenders and for the players who run shoulder first into a ruck like this guy tonight and Wiese yesterday, then we will see less cards. Well, we can hope.
Red cards kill the contest.
Absolutely.
they need to make it 20min. off and replaced by new player after 20 min
Embarrassing by stormers , half the game against 13 and 70% against 14 and only just won lol
Complete none rugby man here. What is the law for the "try" that White says along with those commenting he scored that because the ball was on the line he couldn't be offside or didn't need to be 10 metres away. The ref was told but didn't change anything. Who was correct?
Time for touchers...
What we have seen & learnt about the new rules is......
Yes, as much as the players try to avoid it, head contact happens.
If it has no mitigating factors & is RED, then the player must leave the field and will be replaced from the bench after 10 minutes.
Red cards from any other foul play incident can not be replaced.
Head contact red cards will otherwise ruin an amazing game.
I agree with you totally it's a joke for accidental head classes
Red cards are destroying too many matches. The offending player should be given ten minutes in the bin and afterwards a disciplinary board can determine a suspension.
or 10min for yellow, 20 min for red.
@@RabbitholeIsrael Playing Devil's Advocate here, Manie Libbok is forced to leave the field and potentially won't be able to play next week, and the guy who caused that by not taking care to go low gets to come back on after 20 minutes? Owen Farrell would *love* that - he wouldn't even bother to feign injury anymore....!!!
I agree, the current situation is a shitshow, just looking at some of the cards / non-cards in the past week, but the second red card here is a guy running shoulder first into the head of a jackler in a ruck - you and I know that's not acceptable, so why can't he take responsibility for that?
@@Karma-qt4ji not what i suggested. I said the player getting red card can be replaced after 20 minutes.
20 minutes is 25% of gametime.
@@RabbitholeIsrael Right now, there is a team management ripping someone a second arsehole for running shoulder first into a ruck, with the question, "what the fuck were you thinking??". That is because that single stupid action cost them a player for the rest of the game. Reduce that sentence to 20 minutes and you reduce the willingness to train your players not to do stupid shit like that - NB I said reduce, not alleviate.
This crap needs to be removed from rugby. There are indeed accidental head clashes and for those I believe that WR need to change their stance to a more common sense approach because it *is* a contact sport and accidents will happen. But both of these tackles were completely avoidable and could potentially alter / end player's careers due to injury - Dane Haylett Petty of Australia and our own Pat Lambie both retired because a single hit to the head could literally have them lying dead on the field.
I don't like watching games with card after card, but if the only way to get players to learn is to penalise the team then that will either force the players to tackle lower and with better control or the coaches to get rid of those players. But, I do believe that right now, if this is the route that WR want to take then they need to do it with more common sense and a lot more consistency.
I'm glad I retired from rugby in 2018 after 25 years playing. The rules in todays standard would have killed my motivation to play. Seeing thise reds cards for accidentally colliding with the opposition is crazy
Stormers nothing to be proud of.
Blue bulls barely winning at loftus
Aww spoken like someone who has never picked up a rugby ball. 👆♥️ We love you guys.
How long before teams use the 'rules' to get players sent off?
Off course that won't happen, it's not like Rugby players will bend/break the rules ...🙄
If it's easier to play against 14 or 13 or 12 why not 'buy' a decision? This WILL result in MORE injuries, not less...not least from frustration...
You mean like nic white
Congrats Stormers.
Weekly card rant: it is killing the game.
It really is an inevitable lottery. Each team just wishes that they aren't the first to be carded and also not early in the match.
If this is going to be the norm then change the card laws that a red carded player can be replaced after 10 minutes. Also lower yellow from 10 to 5 minutes.
Drop legal tackle below chest and consider whether an attacking player goes in low and leads with his head.
Also, free kicks have just about disappeared from the game.
No, it isn't. Players need to learn better technique, you whining about it doesn't change that fact.
We're they not saying the south African teams will be a walk over in the Heineken cup 😂😂😂
This code is forever ruined. I can't get through 20 mins of a "game" now. Hence I watch highlights and just wait for the rugby league season. League is still a contact sport and I love it.
Regarding red cards, the IRB and refs are loosing the plot now completely - it's embarrassing for both teams.
As annoying as the reds are. What should they do? Let a guy hit high and the guy passes out and let it go? Like give a solution then? Because the first red was red all day. Second is unfortunate but what did you expect?
@@cornedenecker1636 I would say the other way around - first one was a guy trying (and failing) a ball and all tackle and the second one is clear red and has been for years!
Head on head is almost always a red these days. E eryone knows this. Shoulder to head in a ruck almost always a red aswell. They're pretty consistent with these calls.
@@Karma-qt4ji haha the first one was a solid head clash? Or did you miss that where he also passed out even
Both of these calls are consistent with what IRB wants - please tell me why they aren't as you've made zero attempt to explain your position.
SA teams always pointed as the dirty teams.....who gets all these red cards?
I'm not a mind reader so I can't know what the red carded players were thinking, which means I can't say for certain that their actions were a deliberate attempt to harm the Stormers' players either. Pretty sure the same goes for the referees.
What I can tell you for sure is if I had paid for a seat at that game as a neutral, I would have been really pissed off at the ref than I am sitting at home watching the highlights.
with these red cards against the head - why has no team built their attacking strategy around purposefully knocking against opposition players' heads until all 15 are off bcs of red cards?
Strategically the sensible thing to do haha
If this nonsense continues I will stop following rugby
Heineken Champions Cup discipline is awful.. Whated 3 highlights and there were 9 cards
2 reds ruined the game!
I think, but it is one of my ideas, that Referees are stricter about enforcing "safety rules" as they may have been told trhat South African teams style of playing is super-physical and the Rugby Federation wanted to avoid the risk of players' death by injuries. I also think that there is too much difference between European Rugby and Southern Hemisphere one, there is the actua possibiity that Heineken Cup becomes a SA business
"Death by Injury"...?!
Death by injury due to the way the SA teams play 🤔 alrighty then
They are going too far with the red cards. They will eventually kill the game. People want to see two full teams and lower numbers only increase injury risk. This is not football!
The new rules are killing the beautiful game of rugby!
True
Maybe those rules are a bit killing fluidity, but the goal is to change the usual dangerous plays to protect the players. Today tons of old rugby players have serious troubles... And we can't disagree with that !
Ugly 2nd half. Yellow/Red cards are spoiling Rugby. Must at all times be 15 vs 15. Come on IRB.... you guys have X10 months to come up with a solution. 🏉
The tackle stuff is rubbish no common sense to it people getting sent off are bounced off like they were Neil Back trying to tackle I know you had wimps like James small who hammered lomu all day long but he cheated and took his legs out if there is a genuine clash of heads then consider sending them off this is not soccer
Rugby is getting ridicules yellow card red card players in pantyhose - just play touch rugby
harsh red
First one maybe but second one definitely deserved
@@ZandreM yup
Stormers would have lost this game if they played against 15 men. In SA they will say the Stormers played kak. (Shit)
Oh OK..
This referee must be one of the worse ever.
He may aswell wore a stormers Jersey.
IRB spoiled the perfect game with dumb rules...
Poorly implemented? Perhaps. But trying to protect players heads is not "dumb".
I have long been an advocate of more common sense laws, but let's be honest here for a bit; when last was it okay to go barging into a ruck, shoulder first and hit the potential jackler on the head with said shoulder? That second red card, like the one for Wiese yesterday, was all on the player doing something he ought to know by now he is not allowed to do.
Giving a guy a red card for smashing a unsuspecting player's head with his shoulder is a dumb rule? Bruh...
@@Karma-qt4ji It would be interesting to hear these people's takes if their child had to be tackled like this and been sent to hospital for a check up.
@@theultimatesharpshooter6734 LOL we both know exactly how that would end boet :)
@@Karma-qt4jiI played rugby myself in school level and always felt like the players were not protected enough.
I also got away with a lot of high tackles.
I like this, let's hope the implementation improves.
