- Jonathan Schrantz teaches a sharp Black gambit in the Tarrasch. After 4. cxd5, then cxd4. If White isn't careful, he could end up in Pin City.

I like a bit of Tarrasch talking. :)
Looks like Carlson watched this video preparing for Tata Steel
What a great little video, J Schrantz is undervalued.
+1 well presented analysis, especially possible move-ordering by White
Agreed. J Schrantz is the man!!
+ pgbluster Yes he is, I think I'm gonna have to go down there and meet him one of these days.
This is a pretty crazy gambit, thanks for showing it.
9:17 "this is an interesting challenge, if you were white in this position what would you play?" if i was white id go home and play some other game cause i suck at chess
YEAH more dubious openings :D
Still waiting for the Latvian Gambit
lol Isn't the Latvian more dubious? It's been a long time since I looked at it.
I'm not that good, so I may be missing something. In what he's calling the "main line", why does the white queen always retreat back to where it started after taking the pawn? My guess was that going to b3. It attacks b7 pawn, keeps a line on f7, doesn't leave it open to discovered rook attacks later, etc. In a lot of the games shown, it ends up on b3 later or would have preferred to be there. Is there some sort of trap or obvious thing I'm missing?
Only thing I can think of is that as a general rule of thumb you don't want to dedicate your queen to a certain square or file to early, because you can not be certain where she will be needed after development. Moving the queen out before development is risky for obvious reasons. Giving your opponent numerous chances to develop with tempo is the most obvious. Keeping her on her original square keeps her safe and her possibilities open.
I would like to see the albin counter gambit because I don't think it is as suspicious as they say.
ALBIN COUNTER GAMBIT ALBIN COUNTER GAMBIT ALBIN COUNTER GAMBIT ALBIN COUNTER GAMBIT
Do a video on the Traxler counterattack.
Thx Jonathan, great as always! Something about the Blackmar-Diemer-Gambit would be nice!
Better idea, don't play it. Jk, don't try to book up on the blackmar deimer Gambit, just get activity and mate will follow
Thank you for making all these videos. Very helpful and clear explanations. You are doing a great job to promote the sport and to help others learn!! Thanks again and keep them coming!
can u please make a video on Dutch Leningrad... thank u ur videos are very helpful
At 20:18 doesn't black lose the knight after playing Nxg2 when white plays Kf1?
hi can you make traxler counter attack
there are a lot of quirky and hilarious lines in this gambit. well presented! thanks for the lecture ;-)
33:17 you moved that king so fast, I was thinking about Qd1, that may lead to a longer endgame:> still black looks better , but just like a pawn up
Excellent!
Icelandic gambit please! Great gambit out of the Scandinavian.
Do a video on the richter scale 5.0 gambit.
Schrantz is a fantastic teacher. Lively lectures with very good instruction
Jonathan is a nice guy. But I don't like when he tries hard to be the smartest guy in the place saying : I go here (good move) You go there (bad move) that's just backwards teaching.
If he says black does that white does that, it is so much better to listen to. So the listeners don't always have to be the worst players.
I like playing d4 c5 I call its a Rover's Defence
At 27:50 check out his combination
Bf5, Qe2, Qxc3+, (forced to take) bxc3, Ba3+ (forced to block with the Queen), Bxb2+, Kxb2, Rxd1
Black ends up with four pieces against 3, the latter all are undeveloped and black will have a better winning endgame , so Bf5 was better than Bf4 as the bishop cut out the escape route for the king and allowed for the exchanges that I explained above. Just food for thought.
it would be very helpful if u make a video on alekhine defense..
I'd really like to see that
but in the first Variation, what to do, if White, after Lb5+ Ke7 now plays La4 ? He guards c2 and i cant find a way to winn with black pieces ? Does Sd3+ give enough compensation ?
after Qd3 I think the best is to not move bishop and instead play rook attacks queen Rd8...if qc4 qxe3+ kb1 Bc2+ QxBc2 Qe1 qc1 rd1!: if KxB then same thing Rd2 Kb1 qe1 qc1 rd1!
Hallo Jonathan + chess friends. White has a rare deviation in the early moves which starts with 1..d4 d5 2.c4. e6 3. Nc3 c5 4.cd cd4 3 de6: setting a trap forking King + Knight and promoting to a knight and winning the Queen after BG5. Mostly Black captures with Be:e6. What's the verdict.
Could this be better for White than the main lines? Or it is another choice for Black.
Well I dont like the possition at 10.00 min. in. I would feel forced to play Qf4 , but It not a move that I like, and the position is not the "thing" for me.
coz I don't have any counterplay against the London system. it's very solid in the center. my opponent is a London player and he uses it for about 2 years, that's why I'm researching for counterplays.
Cambridge springs, por favor!
Who’s watching in 2018 September? #lovechess
thank you so much for this.
At 18:11 why not play bishop takes A2 trapping the rook..?? If Knight takes on a2 then rook D1 winning the rook on h8
In the end game variation 9 Bd2 Kb4 10 0-0-0 seems very playable for black.
I’m learning this gambit
hi can u please make lolli attack it is not well analyzed on the internet really appreiciate it
At 11.19 does qf4 lose to qxf4 and active pieces or am i missing something.
1754 the knight is defending the rook from being traped so its a week posiotnion
Just saw a strange game in which nakamura vs volkov and naka played this as black. Volkov had an advantage then made a mistake in the endgame that turned it into a draw then he inexplicably resigned. Wth?
Look it up on the lichess database. Instead of Qd1 volkov played Qd2 which is the only time it's ever been played. Naka went for the endgame variation so it's transposed, but im still confused.
45:19 Advanced technology
Great lecture.. Thanks sir
Headache gambit
I'm 13 minutes in but I was wondering what would happen if white took the E pawn "dropping" his knight. After that of course you are attacking the queen with your queen, and then you can take f7 with check. King can't capture because you'd win the queen and if the king moves to e7, You can take the knight, and promote to a knight, if the rook takes then you can check with your bishop and win the queen that way. Don't know if this line is discussed or not, but I hope so... I know that after white takes the e pawn, the black queen could move to pin the knight, and get out of danger, but then white can recapture the D pawn with his queen. That's just one other line I looked at.
Perhaps, Bxe6 is the easy refutation.
This looks very similar to the Albin Countergambit Trap with colors reversed and Black can avoid it with careful play.
That's They should play
Will you please do the smith-mora gambit?
15:30 "I'm just forking you, and then I just fork you."
14:35 - how about Bd2 as a response, followed by castling queenside?
Impossible
45:21 lmaooo Me irl like Nxc8# my favorite move
Keywords: ben finegold
they know
can u make one video for grobs gambit
wow I have to study this opening, didn't know it was so potent
This is great.
love to see this guy get owned by a GM...
hi, can you make variation against the London system?
I think London System is actually a little weak. You can attack b2 pawn as black if they don't defend it.
@8:49 what if white plays RG2
hyper accelerated dragon please
17:45 Ba4 prevents fork?
9:45 queen to e4
one of the best teachers
watched this after scrutinizing your take on the black knights tango. Generally very good though there is a lot of fumbling through and err.... uh.... later on. I think it is best to say something along the lines of: "black here has knight and queen developed while white, though up a pawn, is VERY behind in development. And the fight continues with each side trying to exploit their strengths / weaknesses." This happens on a lot of your lectures.
32:58 rook d8 ?
I had to look this up, but it does have a refutation in Nh3. Then if Rxd3, then Nxf2 with a fork.
5:10 You can also put the bishop on c5 to threaten checkmate and if youre playing someone 1500 or below and they havent seen this, its a easy scholars mate
!Mikel
amazingly boring
#Thatpumpkin lol
is this young finegold
Wtf is this gambit?

Komodo 11 said white are better after : 5. Da4 + (-.-)
