I have been watching your podcasts for a few years now but don’t often comment. I love your home and the scenery and watch while I’m knitting. I have a wonderful grown daughter and son, but no grandchildren. I really enjoy seeing your boys! I have a 3 year old miniature schnauzer who is wonderful company and keeps me going on good long walks. My husband passed away when we were in our fifties so I have had to make a different life for myself. I have lots of friends and belong to a great knit group. I’m not sure you needed to know all of that but you asked for comments about age and I got a bit carried away! Love your podcast as it has knitting, but love the animals and cooking and you! ❤

Hi Gayna! I’ve been watching for many years now. I just turned 55 yesterday and live in Quebec Canada. I’m also a chicken mom, have a white golden doodle and two rescue cats. I enjoy gardening but this year haven’t been able to keep up. I am recovering from having a radical hysterectomy due to uterine cancer. I’m on the mend and look forward to catching up on my knitting and UA-cam.

Hi Gayna, I am a long-time viewer. I am 61 and live outside of Philadelphia in the States. I've always been single and currently live with 2 cats. My friend Carla and I talk about how much we wished you were our neighbor, since you seem like such a lovely, kind person.
Saucers of beer will help to eradicate slugs. They are attracted to the beer, crawl in and drown. A sad death, but not painful for them.
I do love chickens as well. They have such funny personalities and make the best sounds. You could tie a different color of string or yarn around one of their ankles to help identify them, or even paint a toenail or two. We had good luck with either in helping to keep who was who.

Your life is so different than mine right down to the temperature. I have no kids and have never been married. I wander quite a lot, careers, jobs and states. I am 66, retired music teacher and professional musician (I do still play, but not so much anymore). I knit, sew garments, and we travel frequently to the UK and Ireland. They are little thugs lately!! They peck at my feet and legs so hard that I have to be careful what I wear when I visit them. They’ve drawn blood!!! They have great little characters now too. I love them!

Loved the chickens and thanks for the review on the stick vacuum. Put it in my cart for a Prime Day purchase. My dog sheds so much and it’s a pain to get the big vacuum out all the time. I’m just hitting 60 this year and have become an empty nester recently. Planning on going back into the work force as a substitute teacher just so I don’t get bored but I do love my knitting/crafting time.

Try going out at night with a light to find the slugs out and about in your veg garden. You could feed them to your chickens. Children can sometimes be bribed to find slugs too. (It would make funny vlog content?)

Hi Gayna, I have had good luck with copper mesh to deter slugs and snails. I use it in my hoophouse by laying it on the edges of the boards ( have raised beds about 2 feet high) It comes in a roll. So nice to see you! Susannah (oh yes, 68 years in Vermont, US 😊)
I’ll look into that, I’ve been going out at night with a torch which helps but too late for my poor trombocino!

Well you asked how old we are, here goes, I celebrated my 80th birthday 5 days ago. I was most unhappy to be THAT age . Don't feel it, don't act like it and have been told don't look it(which I will take greedily). First birthday without John my husband. I didn't want the day to come but it did, I was hugely spoilt with cards, gifts and outings. It went on for a few days and today is first day relaxing at home on my own and literally blobbing. But, as from now I am counting backwards. My son said, ' OH Mum, it's only a number". Well Stephen, you wait to 'til you get there and see how you feel.I must admit where has all the time gone, my life has definitely been in segments and eras, good memories.How brilliant to get those eggs so early in the piece.Oh I forgot(see that's already happening, oh golly) I live in the middle of the North Island New Zealand. In an agricultural area, big farms, country towns, a city 30 minutes away on the mighty big Waikato River.Look forward to seeing you next time. Hugs

I live in Newfoundland Canada and I'm 59 , I have retired 5 years ago, but I bought a longarm quilting machine and now I quilt quilts for people. I'm a quilter for a long time and really got more into it when my husband passed 10 years ago. I love to keep busy so I knit in the evenings as well. Have a great day and take care. Sharon

Your chickens are so delightful. I’m sure they must be very happy to have such a lovely home now. I feel for you and your slugged pumpkin. I have the same problem with snails that have destroyed the two kale plants given me by a friend. One plant didn’t last the night and the other is now just a stalk with the tiniest bit of leaf on top. The snail must be saving that bit for his breakfast.
Gayna - you do make me giggle! Who else but you would say they love their chickens so much that their nose fizzes?!! But I know exactly the feeling! The teen years are not as bad as I was expecting, at least not so far. Yes they do all the annoying things like cups and plates in their rooms, filth in the shower, hormonal outbursts but mostly they are lovely lads and their mates are all fabulous too. But ask me tomorrow and I might say different!

Hi Gayna I guess I’m in the oldies camp as I’m 61. I love the podcast I love seeing the chickens that sadly I don’t have room to have. I love the gardening and the crafting . I know what you mean about new flower beds my whole garden is only in its third year and very slowly taking shape . Cosmos is a good shout maybe some Japanese anemones The plants that are doing super well this year are the astrantia they have flowered like troopers even in our really cold wet summer The slugs were treating parts of my garden as an all you can eat buffet. I use egg shells but have had the best results with beer traps

Hi Gayna , great vlog. I’m from Northern Ireland and am 67 and enjoy the range of things that you cover in your vlog. I knit ,sew and garden. So cross that slugs have destroyed so many plants, I go on a slug hunt early morning and late evening and still they chomp the plants. My husband thinks I’m nuts because I count how many slugs I’ve collected and so far this year it’s over 1500 and chuck them in the ditches in the surrounding fields, he says they are the same ones having returned to bug me . Your garden looks amazing.
I am 67 today...but tell everyone I am 36 🤣 I was a very very young Mum of twin girls and they had their daughters young so everyone is grown up. They all married or remarried in the last year and maybe one day I shall have Great Grand children. Yes, haven’t the slugs been terrible this year? I planted 7 courgette plants in total and they’ve all been nommed right down to the soil. So great to see you so happy with your hens 🧡

I too am one of your older viewers, I was 69 on Tuesday 16th. I found you through Ali’s vlogs ( Little Drops) and am enjoying your podcasts/vlogs.
I have just signed up to your patreon and am starting to watch from the start, I may not see every single one but hopefully at least 95% of them. I knit, crochet and do cross stitching, currently stitching Christmas cards for my three granddaughters and knitting the Cosy Memories blanket( mitre squares) which I saw Jools of Sew Sweet Violet making and loved it.I am also starting Sandra’s at Cherry Heart’s Battenburg Blanket. I live in Tipperary, Mid West Ireland. It’s a cold summer here too. X

Hello, I'm from Norway, 61 years old. I love knitting, homes&garden and so on. Love your channel. Get a lot of tips and inspiration and do not need to buy those fancy (and expencive) magazines anymore :-) I live in an apartment in our capital and get to dream about living in a countryside with a big garden etc. when I watch your content. Keep on doing this.
Don’t aspire to a big garden too much! It’s a time, money and energy zapper!!! 😂😂😂

I’ve just finished the Mysterium Tee and the sleeves are just like the ones on your top, I think they’ll be easier to sort out though. Take care till next time. Xx

Hi I loved seeing the chickens, my Granddaughter goes to a forest school and they have chickens which the children look after. She loves them so much, lots of chicken cuddles. I’m 67 in a couple of weeks and love the humour in your videos, I live by the sea in the north of England and we have had such wintery weather the last few weeks, 12 degrees with a north wind off the sea, not good at all. Thanks for the video 😊
