    Flan actually dates back to Rome, but the Spanish love it and brought it with them. Mexicans perfected it though! Same with apple pie. It's European and the British brought an apple tart with them, but the US perfected it into our apple pie.

      Umm, 'perfected' is highly subjective. Spanish flan (aka real flan) and English apple pies (aka real apple pies) are amazing.

    Excuse me but apple pie is not originated in the U.S.A. It is very much an English dish from the middle ages long before America was discovered.

    Flan orginally from Rome. Europe. Flan is as much Mexican as Puerto Rician or Brazil. But comes from Europe🎉

      @@courtenay725 wait i dont think you get the point, roti is not just limited to chapati, roti is like a category of food that each country has its own dish. The video might look like a chapati, but since this is a dessert video im pretty sure they can differentiate between savory and sweet dishes and chapati is definitely not a sweet dish. To me it looks like a crepe (the chapatis that are made in my country looks greyish brown and is eaten with predominantly curries and dhals, idk about others tho)

      I do get the point. That’s why I said they need to rethink it. My family is from Trinidad and we eat it with dhal as well. Without dhal, busup shot is also what we eat. I’m agreeing with you

      I know. Like when do you see an American make apple pie from scratch if they're not farmers . It's like chicken pot pie - something some people make and others once upon a time. Now it's like frozen foods and restaurants. If you get something served to you , it'd probably be BBQ,steak, brownies, fudge, cupcakes,Choc chip cookies....

    10:49 Funnily enough Indian and Greek to some extent counts!
    Gulab Jamun and Greek Loukoumades are very much alike (some say they've the same origin due to their likeness - gulab jamun was influenced by a persian/arab dessert called luqmad al qadi)

    Roti one is pretty interesting. Thai people wouldn’t say that it’s Thai, cause Roti is Indian. However, Indian people would be shocked when they see us eat fried roti with condensed milk 😂😂 So I guess it’s a Thai dessert.

    Flan is eaten in Vietnam too. It’s called, bánh flan 🍮 it’s slightly different than Mexican and other varieties though

      The other two ok fair argument, except it wasn’t the boba it was Chè Thái the drink with coconut milk. Boba from Taiwan, but Chè Thái from Vietnam.

      Boba are those black gelatinous dough balls but the dessert itself is Vietnamese. This dessert originally didn't have bobas, bobas were added later because of the its popularity but the dessert is called "che" in Vietnamese.

      They are not talking about the origin of flan. The one they had is Mexican style flan which the flavor is different from other countries in Latin-American, Europe and Philippines.

    Apple pie for the U.S .? Any time I went to a BBQ they had brownies,fudge,choc chip or peanut butter cookies,places have cupcakes,but they're embarassing when they dump a can of apple into a premade crust and say there's nothing more American than apple pie. Some farmers may still make homemade apple pie in the states, but I've never had it there. It seems more advertised via a restaurant or frozen food section.

    I had way better desserts in Italy than France! Tiramisu, gelato, cannoli. I will say the macrons I got from the Louis Vuitton store were amazing but Italy wins for me

    Lucy, you're killing me. Italy doesn't make that great of desserts...WHAT? Excuse me? Tiramisu, Gelato, Pana Cotta, Cannoli's, Biscotti, Bombolini. And there's more. I'm disappointed. After all the foods they've tried from several countries. Come on! It's time for the moms to get their passports ready and travel outside of the USA. Instead of tasting the world, time to actually go visit it.

      That’s not boba, it’s Che Thai. It just happens to include boba in it. Though it is unusual for Che Thai to have boba in it.

    All of these soulsuckers in here talking about where ingredients, technique, etc originated from but that doesn't mean they "own" the dessert. Every country is influenced by others and use that influence to make something of their own. That's the beauty of our world.
