Yeah, you have illegal Russian and Chinese fishing boats violating coastal Waters. The Coast Guard catches them off of Alaska, Hawaii, California, and Washington state. They seized the boats and arrest the crews.
It's a lots of them,dozens of them until USCG seized their boats.some of them fight back trying ramp the coast guard vessels. More people didn't understand this situation,for me & every fishermans or skippers in Alaska it is such like a threat.

Coast guard doesn't enforce fishing regs. Fishing regs are enforced by fish and game in the states And DFO in Canada not Coast guard. My dad was a dfo officer then handed his badge in and became a Coast guard employee. I'm a fisherman

And it's worse for smaller Nations. Especially on the western South American coast. The Chinese fishing ships, (not boats, massive ships) wait until dark, then rush into the territorial waters to poach. They have NO rules or limits. They take everything! Nothing is too small or too endangered. It's an all out theft of other nations coastal resources. They over fished their home waters so now let's take from everyone else. Remember China is roughly 17,000 miles from Ecuador. That's about 45 days at sea, one way! Tells you how desperate they are for food and money. And Winnie the Pooh will tell the press that those boats never crossed into foreign waters...oh no, China would never do that.

So much BS not even funny. They have no idea who the guy is or even what type of boat. They assume he is a poacher and ship that big has no problem seeing further than 6 miles on radar. My small 23 ft boat with radar dome can see a lot more than that and I am only 9ft off the water.

This is not real... or not how they are depicting atleast. That is not what a radar contact looks likes. And they are firing those fireworks at eachother. Maybe that was the idea to make him think they were armed and fighting? But he would be seeing their nav lights from miles out. Vessels do not run with deck lights on and turning them off would make no difference. And no vessel ever gets as close as they show in the show, especially not in this scene. They always act like they randomly come upon eachother
Interesting bc for the 29+yrs I was out every single commercial fishing boat I ever seen transiting had every deck light on all the time, they’re always lit up like a small city making it hard to determine the aspect of the vsl.
I hate that everyone says that if you have your ais off you are doing something illegally noaa makes everyone fishing to have a tracking device and ais so if the ais is off the government is still tracking you

The guy turned away because he didn't know they were in his path. Those fireworks were for show & nothing else. The other vessel probably just laughed it off. I highly doubt it was an illegal vessel anyway, this show is scripted far beyond what you would expect it to be.
