Wirral Walks - Irby 6 Mile Loop

A very cold, wet, 6 mile hike around Irby, Thurstaston and Arrowe Park on the Wirral. It started off wet just outside Irby Village and just got wetter...
A nice ramble through Harrock Wood up and through the lovely village of Irby and on towards Thurstaston Hill. Even stumbled across a trig point I've never seen and I'vbe been here like a million times!!!!! Just goes to show eh?
Then a quick coffee whilst taking in the views over the Dee to Wales and down to Thor's Stone. A rather impressive lump of sandstone that people have made legends and rumours about for all time. Best guess is a link to the vikings.....and why not? There is evidence they were once here.

Hello Mike, that was quite a long walk, hope it didnt bother your sore foot, im not surprised you didnt really enjoy it as it was a muddy walk and the rain didnt help, hope the next one is rain free, take care.

Foot survived thanks. It was a slog with the mud but I was expecting that after the rain. Would have been nice to get a tad of a break from the rain, but it's the chance you take walking in the UK 😁😁

Hi Julie. I parked just outside Irby Village. So from Thingwall/Barnston area, take the Irby turn. About 200m up on the right is a long lay-by. Handy for Arrowe Park, the path up to the Irby Mill and Harrock Woods.. Enjoy. Hope the weather is better for you 😁
