Snowdonia Walks - Moel Hebog Circular & A Steam Train
A big hill, a steam train and a new drone. Join me as I explore another area of Snowdonia.... Moel Hebog. Just outside Beddgelert is a lovely lodge park called Forest Holidays. That's where this hike started. A challenging route, at least I found it a challenge, which took in forest paths, a woodland walk and finally, a rather steep ascent to Moel Hebog. A 783m trig point awaits your efforts. In addition, the views from up here were breathtaking (might have been because of the climb).
I took along my new toy too. A Hoverair-X1 self flying drone. A perfect little drone for my kind of hiking. It's not sponsored so just my own opinion. It fits in your pocket, doesn't need lots of pre-flight gps witchcraftery to do its thing either. It has a selection of pre-programmed modes like "follow me", "orbit", "bird's eye" and much more. All at the press of a few buttons... Naturally there's a trade off between the more expensive drones, but this is perfect for what I need.

Join me on my Magical History Tour lol... I start with a visit to Birkenhead Priory. The site of a Benedictine Monks back in the 1100's. This building is reported to be the oldest standing building, not only on the Wirral, but Merseyside. Climb to the top of St Mary's Tower to experience uninterupted views over the Mersey, out over Hamilton Square and amazing views of the dry docks. Birkenhead ...

What a wonderful experience this was. It was a long way to go for just two hours, but a trip I had to make. If you've looked for this kind of title, then you'll well know that this was the last flying Vulcan, until sadly it was grounded forever. It did its farewell flight around the UK which was watched by millions. The aircraft is now housed in Doncaster, in what used to be RAF Finningley. Whi...
Hiking The Cinque Terre - Plus - Last Day Boat Trip to Manarola

Once we knew we going to the Cinque Terre region, it was always on my mind to hike it. The area has a national park with many hiking trails. Some easy, some not so easy. Some path less travelled, some tourist. I did have every intention of hiking it all. Maybe not all in one go, but there is a very cheap and reliable train service that runs between ALL of the 5 villages that make up the Cinque ...

A rather delightful 5 mile walk along the historic railway route which is now called the Wirral Way. This was an amazing, if not a tad challenging, hike in North Wales, Snowdonia country. Starting in the rather beautiful Betws-Y-Coed (pronounced dreadfully and for that I apologise). I think it was as BAE or Airbus pulling technical support from it. 558 ended up as the highest hours Vulcan, hence the very expensive wing leading edge strengthening it had, which was the only time it was done I believe. Believe engine cycles were also an issue. Sad but all good things come to an end. Saw her fly a few times and it was awesome. My wife’s favourite aircraft.
