- An update to the progress of our early T5.
Our van developed a fault while out in Wales, 350 miles from home, going into limp while mode tackling hills.
A good service and inspection didn’t reveal any major faults. So a clean up of some of the internal components and a road test seems to have cured the issue, but only time will tell.
We’ve changed the oil to the VW specific 506.01, we got this from Westway oils.
Also to get replaced were :The air filter, Oil filter and the fuel filter.
We cleaned the EGR valve which was very sooty and partially blocked.
The variable vane part of the turbo was checked for operation as were all the vacuum lines to and from the turbo.
Interior.
We stripped down the original seats and threw all the old foam away on the drivers side. The back rest was completely collapsed and offered very little support, the base was worn on the usual outer bolster part.
We used new T6 upper and lower foams and recovered them in T6.1 fabric from my old van.
I had the exact same problem with mine. Cured it by cleaning intake and throttle body and adding a german oil catch can from flash lube.
No more problems
Is it up for sale
No, not at the moment. We’ve got lots of plans for it.
Shame ,thanks for getting back to us,should be interesting watching what you do to it 👍
The seats would of made a good vid
It doesnt like Jack!
Well, they are gonna have to get on!!
