      +3hutp For me, it doesn't make sense to deal with crazy mthfcks like Walt and Jesse when Gale's product it's almost as good and the loss of money would not be that much if Gale continued alone again.

    • @3hutp
      @3hutp 8 років тому +105

      Exactly. After they killed Gale, soon Gus only had Jesse, who could cook the same quality of product as Gale, only much less reliable. Actually, I don't think 3% makes such a difference in terms of sales. In the final episode Skinny Pete says 'the product is as good as ever' and they thought it was Walt's. I think Gus's first impression about Walt was completely right. Walt promised him he wouldn't even hear about Jesse, and then after a few cooks he demanded Gale to be replaced by him. This proves Walt's unreliability. At this point I'd have given Walt an ultimatum in Gus's place: keep cooking with reliable, trustworthy Gale or leave. Poor Gale, he was signing his death sentence by convincing Gus to employ Walt.

    • @3hutp
      @3hutp 7 років тому +10

      Kwaj Besides, we know that after the tension between Walt and Gus emerges (in a rather short time), Gus has to do with Jesse's 96% pure meth, which would've been the same as Gale's, only, in the case of Gale he wouldn't have to watch his back all the time and could go on cooking forever. I'm really sorry for Gale. He should've met Walt at the very beginning, when he was not the violent asshole he had become by this point. He should've paired up with him instead of Jesse.

    • @psbjr
      @psbjr 7 років тому +50

      Gus is clearly not cautious all the time. He actually is a lot like Walt. He takes big risks for big rewards (for example, the huge risk he took poisoning the cartel). Walt is one of the big risks, and he puts up with him for a big reward (extremely pure, "perfect" product).
      Further examples of such risks are his frequent visits to Hector, who could easily set him up (which he eventually does...).

    as someone who has been terminated twice from work, ( and now sitting at home after being terminated suddenly a couple of months ago) I can totally feel for Gale here. The day you get fired is usually the hardest day of the week and the moment is very painful. No matter how bad the workplace is. Both times I was blindsided and had no idea it was coming. gale ( or Gail sorry my English not great) was also terminated suddenly for no fault of his and this is what really makes this scene.hard to watch, reminds me of the situation I went through.

    Regardless, there is still no justification in murdering an innocent man. I'm not factoring in clever movie elements, ideas, and the fact that "it's not real life." All of that's true, and it's definitely my favorite show ever on television; but I wish Walt (or the writers) discovered an alternative. They could have at least turned Gale into a double agent or something to give Walt more "ethical" motivation in killing him.

  • @Elite20001

      mmm, don't be so quick to called Gale innocent. Did you notice Hank had a mugshot pic of Gale? He'd have to of been arrested for that to happen. He looks rough in the pic too. All that is deliberate, it implies Gale has previous criminal associations and hasn't always been as clean cut as he presents himself.

      Dennis Potter I don't know, if that were the case they should've made him do something desperate at gun point instead of just cower. He's not innocent, but not maliciously evil. Perhaps he was under the influence of drugs when arrested and when sober he's mild mannered. Maybe we'll get to see what he was like at the time of his arrest in the spinoff with Saul Goodman.

      That's besides the point. Yes, he looks gentle and innocent, but he's not. He may not be the cold blooded killer Gus is, but Gale is far from innocent. They are playing on the 'good seed turned bad ' thing again. Gale is another Walter you could say. He's up to his neck in it and the show gives clues to back that up. That's the point of the show. Everyone who enters Walt's life has broke bad' at some time.

      While you make a good point, I wouldn't say it's besides the point. As I stated, he's not innocent, but who really is in this world? A lot of people can rationalize/justify intentions (Gale makes a valid point saying if he doesn't make the meth someone else will, at least his product isn't cut or diluted with chemicals that make the meth MORE dangerous to use.) Granted, being under the influence doesn't excuse him, I'm basing my judgment on who he is(was) currently.

    I think the irony here is that Walt reversed the analogy. He is bull shitting Gale because he doesn't want to admit the truth to him. The truth is that Jesse is the jazz and Gale is the classical - and it's clear to the viewer. Gale is very rule based, to the point of annoyance. Jesse is more free form yet still gets the job done. When Jesse enters the scene, Gale understands the situation; and that's what angers him the most.

Gale was quite frankly almost on par with Walt's skill as far as I could see and I think Walt didn't like that in a twisted narcissistic way. Especially when Gale already prepared everything for Walt in the lab and Walt had no instructions left to give, so Walt had to come up with the 75/85 degrees thing just to have something to yell at Gale for. Walter white on the other hand wanted to be like Gus fring, admired him and maybe even envious of his.. he wanted to be like this but didn’t have what it takes to build an empire.. he walked off in the early years of building their company grey matter because he felt like he didn’t belong with rich people .... now again, he is sabotaging himself because he isn’t comfortable with Gale.. someone less troublesome more suitable for a calm long lasting smooth path for the entire situation...

At this point of the series Walter fully respects Gus and is fine working under him w/o even complaining about how much Gus is earning compare to him. Reason why Walter had to fire Gale is because of whatever Jesse said in prior to this episode.
