Hey people, so it's been a while since I did any beauty videos, I just wasn't feeling it for a while, however I started to miss it so today I'm back trying out some new products and giving my first impressions to you whilst chatting about some stuff that's been on my mind lately! Hope you enjoy!
I actually studied this in university. Women are socialized to view other women as competition, but we will step aside and let men through when men show interest in fields we believe are meant for “women”. So though men are rare in female fields they tend to surpass women in these “female dominated fields” it’s fascinating. Examples: Principals and professors are often men, yet teaching is a female dominated field. Cooking is seen to be a “female field” but a lot the biggest chefs are male etc.
Like everyone expects woman to cook dinner every night and makes "get back in the kitchen jokes" etc.. but it's always men that are top chiefs. Is that what you mean
I feel like a lot of big youtubers are starting to get out of touch with their audiences. It’s like as their wallets grow so do their egos and they lack humility and gratitude. I would really like to see some of these bigger “beauty/fashion influencers” be more humble. Some of them really act like they’re major celebrities. Just my two cent.
@Vea Beaz Exactly. Funny how women are so protective over men and protecting their fragile ego, yet most men won't defend women in conversations like this. smh Sometimes the truth may sound like "tearing down men", but it actually isn't. Honey, that is not age talking... that is wisdom shining! Like seriously, we see them coming and just roll our eyes and stash our coins while still looking fab, with the pallet we still haven't hit pan on.
I'm definitely of the same opinion. I'm 20 and I'm tired 😂 I have all the colours and neutrals I could ever want in about 4 palettes and a few singles, so until they expire, that's me sis 🙌 what annoys me is when you see the same basic palettes with one or two interesting shades and I'm just like, do y'all really think I'm gonna be here buying a whole ass palette for two shades? When I got the rest of those shades in other palettes already? No friend. Issa no from me 👏✨🤷🏼♀️
You are so right. I buy quads, because they are easier to hold in your hand, the colours are picked out for you, easier to travel, and I never use more than four colours on my eyes for any look!
Honestly I think some women don't like to see other women succeed 🙈 and naturally they would rather invest their time in a male video instead. Men can pretty much say anything without much backlash! It's such a shame!
If we talk only about UA-cam, I don't agree with you, cause UA-cam is different, the more view and subs channels are those related to gaming, streaming, memes, news with sarcasm and irony, and those happend to be male youtubers cause female channels have different audience and yes smaller audience
Ruth C I agree with what you saying but I think that's the reason their audience is bigger. Male youtubers like the ones you described have both male and female followers. Because a lot of girls like games too. We like the humour too, we like the memes. Plus (and I am sorry my girls but lets be honest) girls tend to create these platonic crushes very easily, so if the man happens to be easy on the eyes, they sometimes follow and watch just because of that. I believe guys don't really care that much, they can be like "yeah she's hot" but they won't watch your videos for that. Some could even have a little "toxic masculinity" moment and would be ashamed to be a regular follower of some women creators... And women usually do lifestyle/beauty/fashion topics, so mostly only women follow them.
I feel like some women want to blame other women for not investing time into making them succeed as if they're owed the attention over men who put more effort into appealing to a wider audience
@@Jordan-db2og Very true! Noone is owed anything in life. And I am not discrediting how hard men work, I just think women are more naturally jealous than men. It's seen way more over in Instagram where a lot of mean comments on "famous" people's posts are from women!

Your style is a little different from mine but I appreciate it and it inspires me!! You’re one of my favorite youtubers. Keep up the amazing work! Thank you for existing! ❤️❤️
I bought Patricia's new lippie two weeks ago, and I just want to thank her so much because its the first time that I feel like brown nude suits me so well! It's a soft matt pleasant to wear. ITS A BANGER
The two most successful men in beauty are also the ones that cause the most drama and have the most scandals. Drama keeps you relevant and can grow your base. And that’s just the tea sis. Unfortunately really
I'm no expert, but as the only girl out of 4 kids and the youngest it does seem like we women are encouraged from a young age on to compete with each other. We're never told to lift each other up but rather undermine each other. While my brothers got encouraged to lift up their teammates by our parents, teachers, coaches, etc, I and other girls got "Why can't you be thin like/why can't you be more ladylike like/why don't you wear eye makeup like (insert girl's name here)" and so on and so on. Even at 42 my mom will out of the blue start in on me for not being more like other women and has even told me to say nasty things to women whose UA-cam videos she's seen me watching. I told her I would do no such thing. Sure, I've seen boys encouraged and bullied into competing against other boys, but not to the extent that we girls were told we had to compete with other girls. Boys were told things like "There's no I in team." Girls got, "Why can't you be as good as (other girl)? You don't try hard enough!" So we don't learn to build each other up. But we are told constantly to be support and "help mates" to men. Even when they're nasty to us. (Though thankfully that was one place where my parents drew the line. They didn't tolerate boys bullying me and mom rescued me from an abusive relationship, where other girls were told "He just hits you because he's got a crush on you" or "Well, you married him so you need to stay with him. Perhaps you should change something about yourself so he won't hit you.") Women are trained from birth to be judgemental of other women. Even gals who call themselves feminists can be extremely, insanely judgemental of other women. (And don't even get me started on TERFs - otherwise known as brain dead bigots. Transwomen ARE women, period.) Anyway, that's just my opinion based on personal experiences. As for colabs - I realize since you're in the UK it would be hard, but I'd LOVE to see you and hairstylist Brad Mondo do a video together making over some random gal. Either that or somehow do something with Jenna Marbles.
Thank you for speaking up your truth. Honestly I feel the same way about the collaborations and new products launching over and over non stop. As consumers we need to really pick what we want or spend on all the products that we might not even use next month. I’m so Glad that you are speaking about this. Will continue to support you always! Xx
so true. I see women supporting men with extravagant personalities in the makeup community and embrace how men are accepting the beauty world. It seems inclusive and supportive (while not enough for other women) but they become the top. Women on the other hand enter a male dominated field and are put down from the beginning and have to work much more to prove themselves. The differences I feel are that men are quick to squash any females trying to enter because they think women wouldn't know enough. It seems they don't give a chance to begin with and degrade by joking or insults more than women doing that behavior toward men. Only time I see support females are if they are way better than themselves or they are very pleasant to look at (ex. weather woman with butt, hot gaming women...)
Exactly. Somehow the women are still receiving the blame for not being supportive. So many women will defend men until the end of the time (that's the reason Trump has women supporters), but men very rarely support women like that. If you don't believe me, just mention the #metoo movement around a group of men and listen to what they have to say (or not say). Their daughters, mothers, sisters, friends, etc., are literally being raped and sexually assaulted at alarming rates, yet they still find a way to excuse the men who do these things or to just pretend like they aren't happening.
I have been going old school with my makeup as well. The makeup I did in highschool was just what I thought complemented my features. When I started watching UA-cam there were a lot of things that I tried and just didn't find flattering, like eyelashes and highlight. Just sitting down and doing your makeup how you want without worrying about trends it so relaxing.
I think men on youtube are addressing a wider audience with their content that has an even bigger audience attraction outside of makeup/ beauty/ fashion/ skincare. Like I had no idea the gaming community was that big until youtube, where gamers are some of the top youtubers. Plus people also look to youtube for a light-hearted watch too, like comedy. Essentially men are making content both women and men may be interested in, whereas female youtubers are all about makeup and fashion, which only reaches a limited audience.
ChaoticDoll the top earner is a boy who reviews toys. My 3yr old son watches him. I don’t think it has anything to do with women not supporting women and everything to do with content and demographics.
There are plenty of female UA-camrs doing the EXACT same content as any male UA-camr. The only reason they don't appeal to a wider audience is because they are women not because of a difference in content.
Patricia, thank you for bringing these issues to light. You spoke the absolute truth on that. There was a year uproar went through the beauty industry when a male was recognized as a top make up artist or was front of a magazine or something. Can't remember fully. I like it when videos get deep to talk about real world issues as I'm a sucker for intelligent conversations. As a stylist, I have wondered why a huge majority of celebrity stylists are male. Hopefully I can look into it more and talk about it someday. I'm generally curious on the interactions and socialization of men and women from an early age, growing into adulthood, and I believe that your video as well as a lot of the responses I read have contributed to my understanding and will hopefully fuel the videos I do on these. Also for your audience, thanks for discontinuing unnecessary PR and listening to your spirit for guidance on what to put out for your audience.
@@shanaleeayee2995 Thanks. Tooooo many times Jamaican Patois is misused by people who don't know what the terminology they are using even means and the said terminology gets carried on/used WRONGLY!!!! SOOOOO ANNOYING!!!!!
Make-up looking on point! I absolutely loved the red metallic lipstick on you. Truly enjoyed hearing your thoughts about women empowering each other and really, the unspoken truth about the beauty community, make-up. I especially lived for the part where you said we should be seeing the beauty in ourselves and the beauty of femininity of other women. Appreciate your honest thoughts about make-up, too many people get scared to say anything bad about certain brands. Love watching your videos through and through ❤❤
I love this girl seriously... I mean she’s so open about everything she think or where she is in life. I mean we all think the same. We all have that moment when u want to do like others and other moment we just questioned everything and seriously @patricia do all that. Anyways I love her
Honestly, the way you're so real about the realities of PR etc is why I watch you, Patricia. There are brands that their trips and their PR ways have totally made me committed to never try their products. [cough]Tarte[cough]
Men in the beauty industry aren’t as common as woman in the beauty industry so they are some what “the odd ones out” which I think creates a bigger hype and curiosity. I think the men in the beauty industry are massive personalities and their extravagant personalities also add to their success. Also there’s a huge over saturation of woman in the beauty community so it becomes harder for woman to stand out.
Kailey Mo Becker I was talking specifically about the beauty community and was just voicing my opinion lol The idea that men earn more on UA-cam because of a wage gap or some deep embed sexism is false- you make money by creating content that people want to watch and by advertising/brand collaboration. Also women in comedy and gaming isn’t really ground breaking, is pretty “common” these days.
I enjoy a lot your little chats and I missed them. I like that you do a makeup which wearable, maybe not for every day, but for when you go out on weekends. Also I think you have a point on what you have said and you are right. We need to support each other.
So much honesty on this channel. ...I love it! It's so nice to see someone with their feet on the ground admit to the excess on these beauty influencer channels. So nice.
there are many feminists out there but i believe more everyday women DO NOT support each other enough. we have come far over the years but there is more work to be done. women supporting women all 2k19
I LOVE collabs! What I'M "OVER" is the SAME DAMN PEOPLE always being the ones to get the collabs! Luv you Patricia! 🤗 I hope you have a Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁🎉
You spoke volumes in this video Pat.. a lot of women have such an issue working together and it’s so annoying..I agree with the whole “releasing of products so quickly” I miss the days when a new product would be released and I would be excited about it nowadays it’s so different you don’t have time to be as excited to try something new. I plan to purchase more ethnic owned product lines for hair, skincare and makeup this upcoming year as well. Some of them are so underrated and are actually really amazing. Love your videos!! You’ve always been a down to earth influencer..😘
Haters will be haters no matter what. Sisters need to uplift each other and be positive. There’s nothing more beautiful than a woman telling another woman how good she looks. It means more than a compliment from a man because it’s genuine. So ladies when you see each other please encourage your sisters and remind them that they are all queens. Peace and Blessing and Happy Holidays.
Girl, you always bring a smile to my face. I, personally do not wear makeup or really follow fashion, but I come just to see you. Thank you for continually making videos. Happy holidays!
Ummmm Patricia the good feels I got from this video i cant explain in words...your are sooo positive and just speak so much real ish...love binge watching your videos
When influencers become big, they start representing bigger, higher end brands and go on expensive trips multiple times a year and as someone that doesn’t have access to endless cash, I no longer find them influential/interesting, cause I can’t possibly afford Gucci and Channel and LV and that 5* hotel and so on. It’s not that I don’t want to support them, it’s just that we out grow each other.
It's not about men support men, there is a system. That's why for example you won't have men supporting women, in every industry. Sexism, colorism, racism all plays in society and one of those areas is on UA-cam.
While I completely support girls supporting girls, a LOT of women support each other. Let’s not forget that society as a whole is based in patriarchy. It’s only been within the last few decades that women have broken into these various industries and created a voice for themselves. However, it’s going to take more than other women supporting other women. Society as a whole has to champion our voices and place equal weight of our voices as male voices. Blaming women for that, however, accomplishes nothing. We just gotta keep shining the way that we are!
I’m not against collabs I just feel like we keep seeing the same people like desixkaty or Kathleen lights or karruche or Chrissy teigan. Like I wanna see makeup artists or like you tubers who are truly talented like youkeyy Alissa Ashley Jackie aina shayla etc like get these people collaborations instead of these same people we see like every week.
Still loving your videos. I relish the makeup videos and motivational talks. I usually skip everyone's fancy party and travel videos however, I want to see what makeup/ outfits you're wearing before you go. I just feel it's so invasive and voyouristic.
I've a huge fan of yours & I've never commented but I wanted to say that I really LOVE these kind of videos where you are really open and honest about your opinion in the best way possible :') I'm a regular uni student dabbling into makeup & your advice keeps me grounded to keep to what works instead of making bad decisions to try what's popular, thanks patricia!! lots of love from singapore 💓
I read that same article, and I was so saddened by it. And I just started thinking why is it that men are the top earners in every industry that caters to mostly female consumers. And I know you said you don’t believe in the system, or as we in America say “the man” but I absolutely believe that there is a very specific group of men who are determined to make sure the top earners in every industry are all the same type. And they have always operated that way, the algorithms is built for them to succeed in everything while everyone else has to struggle for years to even get a tiny fraction of what they get. That is a systemic problem. And yes women should support each other more, but I hardly think that will solve the root of the problem which is based on entitled prejudice and keeping other groups down so that certain men can succeed always.
I think the reason men are successful within the beauty community is because 1. The concept and art of Drag became so popular. Makeup became more about creating new features rather than enhancing your own (which, hey, do you!) 2. I think a lot of people wanted to seem inclusive so they were overtly supportive of a certain group of LGBTQ+ 3. HONESTLY, within the entertainment industry there are a lot of LGBTQ+ people. They know how to market and promote to that group while pulling in women. They align themselves as the gay best friend you always needed (in the beauty community at least) and it was very smart. 4. They have a younger fanbase who would rather die than admit their fav is wrong or a crappy person. They built emotional equity within their following.
Happy Holidays! One beauty hack with lashes is to cut the lashes in half and trim them a little so they give you a winged lash look. I do that because I feel like lashes are always too long for my lid and they never look natural on me.

Your style is a little different from mine but I appreciate it and it inspires me!! You’re one of my favorite youtubers. Keep up the amazing work! Thank you for existing! ❤️❤️
I love when you laugh at your own jokes❤️😂
Marie Tveten Hey I'm getting closer to 4K I would love it if you would subscribe but only if you would like :) xx
TRUE
Who is the other one besides jeffree? James?
Lol Jeffree star
Sadly, so true
James? What drama does he cause? I feel James doesn't cause drama
I love the ratio between your thumbs up and thumbs down! You are a gem and you speak the truth!
You don't try hard enough!"
So we don't learn to build each other up. Transwomen ARE women, period.)
Anyway, that's just my opinion based on personal experiences.
Xx
The top you’re wearing is gorgeous!
Nicole Kennedy-Beaumont Hey I'm getting closer to 4K I would love it if you would subscribe but only if you would like :) xx
I so love you Patricia, you always make me feel good about myself. I'm not much of a makeup wearer but you make me wanna try new things.
Let's be real, a much bigger problem than women not supporting women, is men not supporting women.
Nauku Maija also very very true!!!!
Facts
I have been going old school with my makeup as well. The makeup I did in highschool was just what I thought complemented my features. When I started watching UA-cam there were a lot of things that I tried and just didn't find flattering, like eyelashes and highlight. Just sitting down and doing your makeup how you want without worrying about trends it so relaxing.
Patricia: “I love this concealer, I’m such a fan”
Me: “I love Patricia, I’m such a fan”
Loved this look 😍 and I love the fact that you’re not afraid to speak out about things that many people don’t want to speak about
I think men on youtube are addressing a wider audience with their content that has an even bigger audience attraction outside of makeup/ beauty/ fashion/ skincare.
Ure right, its all about their content.
Except the biggest youtubers for makeup are still men.... men who even say racist things yet sit comfortably and absolutely at the top
There are plenty of female UA-camrs doing the EXACT same content as any male UA-camr. The only reason they don't appeal to a wider audience is because they are women not because of a difference in content.
There are female gamers on here...
Love how you’re so honest and genuine!!! ❤️❤️
Patricia spoke nothing but the TRUTH
YES
I love watching you do makeup because I feel like I can actually do it too...like no fancy techniques...just getting it done but still looking fab!😘
Patricia all the lipstick shades look gorgeous on you!!
Wait...BUN DEM 🤣🤣🤣
HAHAHA
Trust 😂😂😂
Dwl 🤣🤣🤣
in Jamaica when we say bun dem it mean either cheat on them or we dont wnt anything to do with it so get rid of it
@@shanaleeayee2995 Thanks. Tooooo many times Jamaican Patois is misused by people who don't know what the terminology they are using even means and the said terminology gets carried on/used WRONGLY!!!! SOOOOO ANNOYING!!!!!
Oh my goodness your personality, your beauty, your realness gives me life!
Why did I assume you were already wearing foundation
Aliya Mahmood because she's flawless 😍
Her skin is so perfect it's rude
Aliya Mahmood right? Im shook
Me and my mom were talking about women supporting each other yesterday, you're speaking truth!
Your skin is stupid BEAUTIFUL.How am I supposed to live without you.
Love watching your videos through and through ❤❤
Thank you Patrica. The top earning list from UA-cam being all men was sad to see. Lilly Singh made a similar point on Twitter as well.
I love this girl seriously... I mean she’s so open about everything she think or where she is in life. I mean we all think the same. We all have that moment when u want to do like others and other moment we just questioned everything and seriously @patricia do all that. Anyways I love her
Who else is part of the 2% of men that watch and love Patricia? :)
@HisHabits
Your all welcome ♥️
Shaun ✋💪
I can't live without you I just can't.
Honestly, the way you're so real about the realities of PR etc is why I watch you, Patricia. There are brands that their trips and their PR ways have totally made me committed to never try their products. [cough]Tarte[cough]
Your skin is mad flawless
Niyah R nope Birmingham UK lol 😂 But your skin in your pic is mad flawless too girl 😂♥️
Yes I’m a huge believer in supporting and empowering other women and young girls! ❤️
Yes, this! Girls doing makeup is nothing new, but guys doing makeup garners more interest because it's something we're not as used to.
If this were remotely true, wouldn't the top gamers and comedy channels be from women?
Kailey Mo Becker I was talking specifically about the beauty community and was just voicing my opinion lol
The idea that men earn more on UA-cam because of a wage gap or some deep embed sexism is false- you make money by creating content that people want to watch and by advertising/brand collaboration.
Also women in comedy and gaming isn’t really ground breaking, is pretty “common” these days.
Did you know that several men created beauty companies (i.e. Revlon, Maybelline, Max Factor, L'Oréal, etc.)?
I love chats like this and I always enjoy watching you put your makeup on. Please do more of this
They keep cranking out products just so influencers can shove it down our throats...I love you but alot of influencers I'm like😑
Just Ebby Hey I'm getting closer to 4K I would love it if you would subscribe but only if you would like :) xx
Patricia is the only one beauty/lifestyle person I watch now. I stopped watching others because it’s so hard to figure out who is genuine anymore.
I enjoy a lot your little chats and I missed them. I like that you do a makeup which wearable, maybe not for every day, but for when you go out on weekends. Also I think you have a point on what you have said and you are right. We need to support each other.
Last time I was this early, youtube was drama-less
Todoroki!!!!
@@Kairichi hiiiii
Love the way she does what looks good on her xx just beautiful she doesn’t over do her make up
"Patricia is happy, Patricia is haaaappyyy... Hum, sorry" hahaha you're so genuine, I love it, you always make me smile and laugh so much !
I love how you're practical in your videos! Make up makes me happy too!
*Sis I thought you were already wearing foundation!!!*
Naturally Mystique skin on 👌🏾 lol
As soon as the foundation brush hit her face Patricia started speaking truth 🙌🏾 loved the knowledge you put down and would love more videos like this!
AUNTIE TERRITORY 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💋💋💋💋👀👀😆
Shirley Husar Hey I'm getting closer to 4K I would love it if you would subscribe but only if you would like :) xx
I LOVE collabs! What I'M "OVER" is the SAME DAMN PEOPLE always being the ones to get the collabs! Luv you Patricia! 🤗 I hope you have a Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁🎉
I like how you can say that women need to support each other to be better instead of blaming algorithms for being sexist
That is soo true women we really need to stop the attitude of ignorance against each other's work.#WOMEN EMPOWERMENT STARTS WITH US AS WOMEN#
Women need to put more clothes on 😒 roll my eyes...
@@victorianmansion8986 no they don't
You spoke volumes in this video Pat.. a lot of women have such an issue working together and it’s so annoying..I agree with the whole “releasing of products so quickly” I miss the days when a new product would be released and I would be excited about it nowadays it’s so different you don’t have time to be as excited to try something new. I plan to purchase more ethnic owned product lines for hair, skincare and makeup this upcoming year as well. Some of them are so underrated and are actually really amazing. Love your videos!! You’ve always been a down to earth influencer..😘
Never 👏🏼 clicked 👏🏼 on 👏🏼 a 👏🏼 video 👏🏼 so 👏🏼 fast 👏🏼 in 👏🏼 my 👏🏼 life 👏🏼
You are such a blessing, thank you for sharing your thoughts, and not letting more is more take over queeeen💕
The biggest reason men are the top earning people in the beauty industry because major brands support them.
Mariela Que the like the drama🙄🙄🙄 people talk more about drama and therefore about their products
Correct
Haters will be haters no matter what. Sisters need to uplift each other and be positive. There’s nothing more beautiful than a woman telling another woman how good she looks. It means more than a compliment from a man because it’s genuine. So ladies when you see each other please encourage your sisters and remind them that they are all queens. Peace and Blessing and Happy Holidays.
I love your content. Thank you❤
I love her attitude and personality, I feel so much better and hyped up here 😂💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Threw a comment just to have a like of Patricia 😍 #GroupieMode
Oh go on then 😆
😂♥️
Girl, you always bring a smile to my face. I, personally do not wear makeup or really follow fashion, but I come just to see you. Thank you for continually making videos. Happy holidays!
You spoke nothing but truth! Yassss
Ummmm Patricia the good feels I got from this video i cant explain in words...your are sooo positive and just speak so much real ish...love binge watching your videos
I would love to see you & Jackie Aina collab
Jackie aina will bring Patricia down with her drama, I love Patricia being drama free
Agree @Adaeze Rose!!! They both have fun and both speak their truth regardless of the faux rage of others.
Alissa Ashley, also a sweet woman on YT
what drama? :O
Adaeze Rose yes!!!!
I completely agree with you. I have not been excited or inspired by releases in months.
I love how real this is. Patricia is so honest
It's not about men support men, there is a system. That's why for example you won't have men supporting women, in every industry. Sexism, colorism, racism all plays in society and one of those areas is on UA-cam.
I follow lots of channels and Patricia's is the only one that really says the good and the bad of products. I really love that about this channel!
I appreciate this channel, from an adult woman so much. Thank you for all the advice and tips you give us, it is so appreciated Patricia!
PEOPLE LIKE ME YOU MEAN LOL
Still loving your videos. I relish the makeup videos and motivational talks. I usually skip everyone's fancy party and travel videos however, I want to see what makeup/ outfits you're wearing before you go. I just feel it's so invasive and voyouristic.
Shootout to the 2% of men watching Patricia 👏💜
Love Patricia because she isn't afraid to spill the tea and speak the truth on issues that other UA-camrs have a hard time being straight up about
I think the reason men are successful within the beauty community is because 1.
Good points, I don't think anyone (so far or from what I've seen) has mentioned this.
I'm actually on my way to a work party right now, and girl we are coming and serving looks. They are going to be who is that?
Cassidy Get it girl👜💅
Happy Holidays! One beauty hack with lashes is to cut the lashes in half and trim them a little so they give you a winged lash look. I do that because I feel like lashes are always too long for my lid and they never look natural on me.
