- Join me as I walk along 86th street, in Bensonhurst Brooklyn, one of the most bustling streets in NYC. During the tour I highlight some street vendors, cafe's, Italian Deli's and then I end it at one of the most popular pizzerias in the world!

So great in the 1970s and 1980s ................ Now it feels like Canal Street in NYC.
Wonderful as always Antonio! The Bensonhurst. Yeah!!!!!
Glad you liked it!
I lived in Bay bridge, but I was always roaming around bensonhurst, my sister was a student at FDR high School, wow!! So many people have left the neighborhood.😢
This was awesome. I am reminded of the TV show, Welcome Back Kotter, when I see the subway going by. Some pretty good looking fruits and vegetables in those markets. I also like Italian bakeries. The pastries are amazing. My maternal ancestors came through Ellis Island, from Czechoslovakia and Poland in the early 1900s. My maternal, great grandparents were married in New York City, in 1900, after coming from Czechoslovakia, that same year. My maternal grandfather, came through Ellis Island, from Poland, in 1914. They moved off to Canada, but my great grandmother has family members who remained in New York City. Thanks for sharing this. Cheers, Antonio. 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
Wow, that was a long time ago. My parents only just arrived here in 1964.
A lot of Americans in faraway locations who never been to New York have ancestry roots in NYC, Ellis Island, Lower Eastside, etc…
@@ramencurry6672 when my mom and my grandparents immigrated here, they lived in the Lower East side for 10 years.
8:08 beautiful shot
Very unique place, that's for sure.
Thank you for the walking tour, very interesting place and nice 86th street. Brooklyn is the real NYC.
No doubt!
This was totally where we come from. Bay 37 n benson avenue. Thanks for the video. Wow such changes.
Glad you appreciated it.
I remember when there was the Empress Deli on 86 St and Bay Parkway. Greag Jewish deli. Gone at least 20 years, I'd say. The bagel store is still there.
You’re in my neighborhood
I grew up on Benson Ave and Bay 34th. Still a nice neighborhood, although different
I lived on 63rd and 20th avenue for nine years and then my parents moved around the block on 62nd. Lived there for 11 years.
Wow lived there too! Amazing❤
@@Antonioonthego What years ?
I was thinking that looks like the same street from Saturday Night Fever. I loved that scene of the film. i used to live in Brooklyn and went to school at Pratt. New York is very different now though.
Sure is the same, I actually started the stream just a block down from the pizzeria from the film, which unfortunately has closed down recently. Thanks for tuning in.
I really wanted to catch the disco scene in New York I got there in 1985 and there wasn't a trace of it. I went to Danceteria and it was a bore. I made it to Paradise Garage and it soon after closed down. I walked past old Studio 54 just to say
I saw it-lol @@Antonioonthego
Omg i miss this community!, i lived here for a long time❤
Me too!! 20 years.
Great vid thanks for the hometown tour
Glad you enjoyed it
The whole hood has changed from when I grow up
NOTHING LIKE THE GREAT OLD NEIGHBORHOOD. NOTHING LOOKS, FEELS OR TASTES THE SAME.!!
Nice vid. My girlfriend and I live in Bay Ridge and we had to go to the T-Mobile at 86th Street. We actually walked on the promenade which is beautiful on a summer day.
we had to wait for some time regarding our devices and we actually walked around looking for somewhere to eat, so funny we actually stumbled upon that Turkish restaurant but we were in the mood for something different and we saw a young lady come out of the beauty salon and we asked her if there were any other restaurants around and she told us that everybody (old school) from the neighborhood goes to Bay Ridge to eat.
My girlfriend and I looked at each other like we just came from there.😂
But yes demographics have changed but the hustle is still the same...❤ Brooklyn
Instanbul Bay? Love them.
Johns Deli was the Spot for the Roast Beeef, Fresh Mozzarella and the serect "Motor Oil Gravy. Heard news owner not g good. One John oo m opened on 13th is great 👍
There's a few locations.
@@Antonioonthego Some lasted some didn't
Great video , you took me back but do you really think it's better and safer without the mafia ?
ANTONIO, BY THE WAY, JOHNS DELI IS NOT THE SAME EITHER!! THE PLACE WAS SOLD TO ARMANIANS!! The ORIGINAL OWNER OPENED A PLACE IN BAY RIDGE ON 13th Avenue!! The new owner are rude.
Where do these markets get all those fruits and vegetables? There not growing them in Bensonhurst. Also, I'm always hearing L&B is overrated or it is not as good as they used to be. Is that true? Are you reviewing them again? Thx for the tour.
Yes, stay tuned for the review. I'm reviewing their round this time and not the Sicilian. I already reviewed the Sicilian and I gave it a decent score. They're not really overrated. You need to go on a slow Monday, like I did.
I think New Jersey could possibly be one of the sources perhaps. Years ago I visited a blueberry farm in New Jersey ( around in 2013)
Jersey perhaps
@@Antonioonthego I guess why now they call it The Garden State
Oh yeah, lots of farms in between suburban areas. Certain areas like Hoboken and Jersey city however, resemble Brooklyn. But that's only Northeast Jersey. @@edis4ut287
Yes, wow what a change since I lived there last in the mid 1980s. Italian race is gone. And Jews, Irish German. What is shame?
This is awesome! Will you have some future vids in Queens? I am going to check out your Citi Field vid next. Missing NYC!
I did a few pizza reviews in Queens on my other channel, link in the description. I reviewed Mano's Pizzeria, Rosa's Pizza, New Park Pizza and more.
Citi Field is amazing, it feels like a festival, the food there is incredible. I didn't get to go to a game this year, I've been so busy. Perhaps next year.
I was in Queens in June and stayed in the Long Island City area. It’s not bad and kinda nice. Great location since reaching Times Square is very quick
I posted some shorts in LIC I believe. If anything, I did a lot of photography there last year and posted on my other IG page. I had a great time there. I usually go after I visit Williamsburg.@@ramencurry6672
👍👌
Ohh , wtf is no one gonna comment on the D train on 86th street?
It was the B train back in the Saturday night fever Era .
I never took the B or D back then.
Bensonhoist
How they make profit? A lot of people brother
There's your answer; a lot of people= $
Respectfully, i was disappointed with this video.
You didn't walk the streets with any stories of Mafioso or Bath St Crew etc etc. I know what an elevated subway looks like and can visit Canal St for the same shops. John's Deli and L&B are legendary, true. Thanks for your efforts, anyway. How many years did you live in Bensonhurst? Oh yeah, 20 yrs ...that was repeated 20x. Lol
This neighborhood is nothing like it was in the 80s and 90s. People like me were not very welcomed here on your own. Totally different some shadows of its former self here or there.
86th street SUCKS now…such a shame. Miss the way it was in the 90’s/00’s
Remember that store that sold old comics ????
@@LannieLord there were a few!
