Finally! Thanks for reviewing. Glad to finally see brands coming out with fragrance free products for those of us that can’t use fragrance no matter how much we want to.
I really wanted to use the Bond Curl Rehab Salve by Curlsmith to help repair my hair, but every time I do my face doesn’t like the fragrance. I’m going to try the Bouclème Protein Booster and hope that works 😅
Finally! I never understood why putting fragrance on hair was acceptable for the health of hair, not to mention causing difficulty for those sensitive to fragrance. I have never purchased Curlsmith products, because of the fragrance complaints in reviews. I plan to try some of these products.
I do think that brands should offer a fragrance free option and a fragranced option of their products. Personally I refuse to use fragrance free hair and body products. My whole skincare routine for the face is fragrance free and it's just extremely boring, and certain fragrances (vanilla and caramel to be exact) help me with my anxiety A TON, so fragranced hair/body products are a must for me.
I went into anaphylaxis twice this week from Curlsmith products. I ordered the shine line but just heard it has a citrus fragrance, which I am allergic too. Why all these strong odors and perfumes in hair care. Fragrance formulas are also considered confidential, and no U.S. regulation requires the disclosure of any ingredient in a fragrance mixture. I wish the CG community would tackle this issue like silicone and sulfates. Fragrance is dangerous.
@@This1JenI use fragrance for my body, but I find using fragranced products for my hair ends up transferring to my face while showering and that (sadly) causes issues.
I like all the curlsmith products I've tried so far, other than the fragrance is too strong 😞 I have sensory processing disorder and my body has very uncomfortable reactions to fragrances. I ordered the fragrance free conditioner a few days ago! I AM EXCITED!!!!! 🙂
@@mrs.bissonnette7498 I like the conditioner. It detangled my hair with ease, and did not cause excessive shedding. My dry hair is soft. This conditioner might be my new favorite! I plan on trying the fragrance free leave in and gel next!
Courtney, I didn't think your hair could possibly get anymore shiny but this line proved me wrong! As always, you and your hair are beautiful. I greatly appreciate all your tips and tricks. I am only 5 weeks in but you gave me the confidence to love my waves and curls! ❤❤
Love this!!! Thanks so much Courtney!!! Just wanted to add that as a person who is extremely sensitive to artificial fragrances/perfumes/chemical smells (nausea, throat swelling, headache, etc.) I've tolerated Giovanni products extremely well without any complications!
Yeah! Thank you Curl Smith! I have asthma and strong scents can cause an asthma attack. Also The scents in styling products, can give me a rash on my face and neck. So pleased that a major Hair care company has concidered people like me and created a full line of fragrance free products for us!
Wow! It's about time one of these companies comes out with a product line like this. However, I do wish they would focus on respiratory allergens and irritants as much as they consider sensitive skin. I don't have very sensitive skin, but I do have very sensitive lungs. I can't use most hair products for that reason alone. These ones look promising, though. I do have a couple of ingredient concerns as far as lung irritation, but they look far enough down the ingredient list, I think I might actually be able to try Curlsmith. I don't think I will be able to use them daily, but I might be able to put them in the rotation as products I can use occasionally. Thanks for video!
You had me at fragrance free! I do love the diff smells of the Curlsmith lines (especially the protein line, yum) but they def get overwhelming, super quickly!
Oh my goodness, this is exactly what I have been looking for. It is a nightmare trying to find fragrance free wavy girl hair products. I bought a Curlsmith product once before and had to immediately return it because of the fragrance. Now I can finally use Curlsmith! And shine and moisture are what my hair needs most. It sounds like these products are tailor made for me. I'm so excited. Thanks for sharing about them!
Glad they had the mini's for all the products. Just ordered them all. Going on a trip in 2 weeks, they will work perfectly. Thanks Courtney 😊. Can't wait to try,
I’m someone who likes about half the curlsmith products. My hair needs very little moisture. I JUST tried the CS shine gel this morning and got great results! Great cast and very shiny. Can’t wait to see how days 2-4 look!
Yes! No fragrance and normal names, so you don't have to puzzle out what the product does, as you do with most Curlsmith products. I just bought Noughty brand to try from Ulta and the obligatory coconut smell of the lower-cost products hit me in the face as soon as I opened the shipping box. I may take the Noughty back and get these.
I ended up buying my shampoo/conditioner & even a hairspray from Jessi Curl because they offered fragrance free products. I didn't have the best luck with any of the sylers sadly but I do love the shampoo & conditioning products. It's also nice to have a hairspray with no strong scent to irritate my eyes or trigger my asthma. TGIN is another good line of natural, unscented hair products. I use their co-wash & leave-in conditioner. I try to wash my hair about every 4 days & will alternate with co-washes depending on how my scalp feels & the time of year. If Curl Smith offers sample sizes or travel sizes, I might try these new less scented options. But I need some protein in my stylers & all these products ingredients seemed more about moisture/shine & that might be too much for my hair/scalp ontop of what I already use.
Can I ask how you found this? I have fine curly/wavy hair and am now confirmed to be allergic/sensitive to fragrance. Im trying to decide between this curlsmith and the jessicurl products. My hair also likes protein, so I’m a little sad the curlsmith line is all protein free. Basically if you don’t mind giving some recommendations because I’m having to replace all my products because my fragrance allergy/sensitivity has gotten worse.
I recently started watching how to put makeup on on UA-cam and you have it on so natural. Maybe you could do one video of how you put it on. Thanks! Also your hair looks amazing like always
YES! A fragrance free line!! While I don't know of any technical allergies, many fragrances give me headaches, and when they are on my head it often crosses over into a migraine. Plus, my hair holds on to scent like no tomorrow, even just from the atmosphere. I have more or less settled with a washday lineup of low and no fragrance products for my 2Bish hair. Courtney, have you tried using the Alaffia brand? I'd love to hear your thoughts :) I've been using their Vanilla Mint shampoo and conditioner for a couple of years now, and have been pretty happy. I find those products most consistently on Amazon or at Whole Foods. If you are sensitive to fragrance, they don't use any synthetic fragrances as far as I can tell, and the scent it does have is low (and nice!). Highly recommend trying it out!
Great topic! Some people are sensitive to fragrance some just don't like it. My mom can't deal with much fragrance because of migraines. One of my fave products( pillow soft curls) I hate to use because the smell isn't bad but it's strong. Also if you like wearing perfume you don't want your hair scent to flesh with it . Thanks🙏.
Thanks for the review! Happy they are finally doing fragrance free. I'm wondering if the new shine jelly is comparable to the hydro flexi jelly, and if the hard hold gel compares at all to style fixer?
I compared the ingredients and yes....it appears as if they used the basic formula for the hydro jelly and the in shower styler fixer, removed the scents and added the shine ingredients. To me its basically those two products with a bit of a tweak.
Great review, Courtney! Beautiful results! I have 3c/4a hair but I wanted to see your review. I might want to try this collection to being shine to my hair.
Nodding! I love the fragrances! But after 3...almost 4 but it just did not stick....bambino's...now they are all taller than I am. I know that there is need for fragrance free!! :)
Thanks for the video! How does these compare with the other CurlSmith lines? I have the other shampoos & conditions (vibrancy, scalp, & protein) as well as the leave-ins and gels (scalp & protein, not a huge orange line fan for the most part), and I am wondering if they are similar to their current lines. I would hate to spend soooo much money even for trail sizes if they are similar to products I already have. TIA! 🤩
I don't have any allergies or chemical sensitivities to fragrances but I do like to use stylers that are fragrance free. I rarely use products from the same brand and their fragrances can sometimes clash when they're heavenly scented. I did notice though that glycerin is pretty high in the ingredient list on that gel. Have you experienced any problems with it?
I can’t wait to try! I found your videos and tried Aussie just to see do I like the look. I love it but omg the smell about kills me!!! My family was not thrilled by the smell either lol 😂 so these companies really need to get it together!

YES! I haven’t been styling as much lately because there aren’t many products I can use on my sensitive scalp. Yahoo! Buying these right away! Thanks so much for reviewing them for us. 😊
I’ve been waiting for someone to review this line so glad you did and thanks but I have to ask since you are so Scientific do you think any of the ingredients will mimic a proteins in any kind of way. For I have used to many products with too many proteins and now I am protein sensitive to almost anything that’s mimic a protein. It’s hard enough to find fragrance free products as well as not contain in a protein or Certain plant based indigents that mimic a protein. I reached out to curlsmith to ask about the formulation but no response yet and I know you your stuff. Thanks so much.
Uh. I know everyone is here for the fragrance free but I can't wait to try the gel!!! I'm still looking for a hard hold gel to love and will definitely be giving this a try!
Ditto I so wanted tp love Curlsmiths other gel because its smells amazing like their air dry cream which is an holy grail of mine. I loved that it has amazing healthy nourishing ingredients compared to the the typical crappy chemicals and hold agents in hair gels since those of us with curls use way more than the typical person. End results was so sticky in hands but at the same time no matter how much I applied gave me no definition or frizz control at all even for my waves. Most annoying thing is the bottle of comes in always clogs at the opening because the product is so gelatin like. Great in theory but total fail for me so fingers crossed on this strong hold gel I agree! 😅
Amazing! My scalp is itchy and I think it's from fragrance. I've always been sensitive to it in any product. What about products with natural fragrance such as oils?
These products are awesome! A great mix between the In Shower Styler line and the protein line for me. I add the jelly or the gel to a mini spritzer bottle with some distilled water as a “hairspray” and/or day 2 refresher. It makes my waves bounce right back.
Thank you for doing this video!! And thank you to Curl Smith for making fragrance free options. My fiancé has really bad allergies and most scented products bother him. He’s a good sport and generally tolerates my hair product experimentation as much as he can but I wind up selling or giving away a lot of hair products because of the smell. So this lineup is really exciting. Big news in our house! Can’t wait to try these out!
What kind of steamer do you have?? That’s a great idea. I spray my hair with water the next day and it’s sticky on my hands after crunching. I just tried quidad advanced gel but it smells. I’m going to go now and get the curlsmith fragrance free line. That’s for your info. I just found you. Good luck with the baby.
I am trying so hard to resist buying these. I have too large a stash that I need to work on before adding more products, but I will keep these in mind, especially since I do want to have more shine in my hair.
I got so excited then checked the ingredients. It contains Cocamidopropyl Betaine in the shampoo, which is a know irritant for sensitive skin. It’s what makes things suds up. But why put it into a sensitive fragrance free formula?!
I’m in need of a protein free shampoo and conditioner. I was going to buy the Curlsmith Vivid Tones shampoo and the Glow perfecting conditioner. I’m curious if you think the Shine line provides more shine or added benefit.
I would love to see how some of these worked with some of the protein line mixed in. My hair loves protein and a washday without it doesn't work. I have yet to have great success with any of their gels but love the bond curl, multitasking conditioner, air dry cream and protein cream. Just wished their gel worked better for me. The ruby gel had good hold but dried out my hair. And not an everyday thing 😉.
Vanity Planet, have same one. Much better quality than the cheapie generic Amazon brands o had tried in the past. They have sales often snd worth the splurge!
I am surprised they are calling this fragrance free when it contains hops, lemon and jasmine extracts? I guess they really mean no artificial fragrance? But sensitive skin types should still beware if you react to botanical extracts.
The difference between "Fragrance Free" and "Unscented" and often confused. Fragrance free means that no artificial fragrances were added to the formula. If the components of the formula have a scent it is left alone but nothing else is added to enhance the scent then it is considered "Fragrance Free". Unscented means that chemicals are added to mask any natural fragrances so the product does not have any scent. If you are sensitive to smell, unscented is a better option. But yes, it can be quite confusing.
@@angelag669 I am familiar with fragrance free versus unscented. Plant extracts can be sensitizing, so those of us who have skin that is sensitive to botanical ingredients should tread carefully. Selecting “fragrance free” products is often a convenient shortcut but it wouldn’t work in this case.
@@mariesikk I guess I should have put this as a general comment and not directed specifically at you. I did not mean any offense The labels can be misleading especially for those who are sensitive to scent in general. I believe products should be labeled "Unscented" or "No Fragrance Added".

Does the shampoo and conditioner have that scent like the gel? I bought the gel and it smells a little like paint so curious if it’s similar with the other products
I have MCS and I have no idea how they think these are fragrance free. Very strong to me except for maybe the oil, but couldn’t use that either. Definitely not frag free but I appreciated the effort!
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney I don’t have sensitive skin but I have a sensitive nose! Got my hair done yesterday and the stylist blew it out and used some hairspray. All day long I kept going “ugh what is THAT SMELL” every time I turned my head. It was the hair products. Even changing shampoo/conditioner can throw me off for days. I can’t STAND coconut smells, and anything strong and floral is a no go!
First of all giiiirllll! YOu are soooo cute pregnant! Your glowing and your hair looks amazing! Second, I laughed out loud when you said "Local Ulta"... I like in the sticks in Arkansas so my local Ulta is 45 minutes away.. haha so online shopping is my go to. Can't wait to try these out. Thanks for another awesome video and great review!
I watched the video, and purchased based on the excellent review and needing fragrance free for myself and others in my home. Unfortunately, my hair and skin did not like it at all. My hair responded with a TON of frizz, and handfuls of breakage about midway through my lengths, and my skin reacted with itchy crusty bumps, especially behind the ears and along the nape of my neck, where I suspect I may have gotten product in higher amounts closer to the skin than on my crown. I used only products from this line, and had the same reaction both wash days to them trying them spaced out about a month in-between. I am sure there is no fault in the product, but just a reminder that our skin and hair are unique, and our reactions to products will be equally so. I wish I hadn't jumped in and bought the full sized shampoo and conditioner. Anyone with sensitive skin or lungs is wise to buy travel size first to test, for this, or any product. I am going back to the LUS fragrance free system, which I tolerate well. Thank you for you balanced, and educational reviews and tips though! So sad this one didn't work for me. I really really hoped it would.
The curlsmith website doesn't list the ingredients for these products. Ulta's website does. They have lemon peel extract which is not a good ingredient for many people with sensitive skin. Also jasmine flower extract. So these products technically have fragrance it just might not be a noticeable scent.
I see glycerine is high up on most of these products' ingredients. Did you find that to be an issue in a dry winter environment? I live in a desert where for most of the year humidity is at 15%.

I'm always looking for fragrance fee products. There's No Nothing, SEEN and LUS! you should try too.
These products are awesome! A great mix between the In Shower Styler line and the protein line for me. I add the jelly or the gel to a mini spritzer bottle with some distilled water as a “hairspray” and/or day 2 refresher. It makes my waves bounce right back.
Ohh that mixture for your "hairspray" sounds wonderful!
That is so tough! I hope these work out well for you guys. And Congrats on the engagement!
Understand. But that's a good plan!
I got so excited then checked the ingredients. It contains Cocamidopropyl Betaine in the shampoo, which is a know irritant for sensitive skin. It’s what makes things suds up. But why put it into a sensitive fragrance free formula?!
Thank you for this video! I've been wanting to know more about this line since I seen it was released!
I’m in need of a protein free shampoo and conditioner. I was going to buy the Curlsmith Vivid Tones shampoo and the Glow perfecting conditioner. I’m curious if you think the Shine line provides more shine or added benefit.
Done! Just bought travel sizes of all 5 products using your link & code. ✅
Love it!! Let me know how it goes!
Protein?
I would love to see how some of these worked with some of the protein line mixed in. My hair loves protein and a washday without it doesn't work. I have yet to have great success with any of their gels but love the bond curl, multitasking conditioner, air dry cream and protein cream. Just wished their gel worked better for me. The ruby gel had good hold but dried out my hair. And not an everyday thing 😉.
Great review! How does this strong hold gel compare to the in shower style fixer?
Glad you posted this video!! Some scents can be very irritating on the scalp. Happy New Year!!
Agree! Happy New Year to you as well!
Could you pop a link in the description to the steam machine as well? 😊
I second this, it looks better than others that I've seen.
@@angelag669 no worries I totally agree the labels can be misleading. I feel like we have to be little detectives with labels these days.
Indeed, not very useful if you suffer from eye eczema!
Happy new year Courtney 🎉🎉🎉! Thank you so much for all the valuable information you give us. It has been so helpful 🙂!
Thank you! I am glad it helps! Happy New Year to you as well!
Thank you so much for doing this review! I had ordered these exact products just after Thanksgiving and got them delivered yesterday!! Washday is today, and I’ll be starting with the Bond Curl Rehab Treatment 1st before using the new products! Your review and application information here is prepping me perfectly to use all the things in a smart quantity! Perfect perfect timing!!
I love when this happens! Yay!
She’s beautiful momma! Love that pink beautiful baby girl!
Omgggg you’re pregnant 🥺 congrats love!!!!!!
Miss your video wash day. Congratulations on beautiful baby girl. How precious.👍🥰
I'm SO excited for this line! I can't handle strong fragrances due to migraines, and my hair always lacks shine.
Yay! I totally get this. I hope it works out well. It is a fantastic line!
curl hair holds on to scents sooo much!
Looks amazing! Love that it is fragrance free!
Where is your steamer from?! I need to replace mine and this looks so much easier to steam refresh with!
Vanity Planet, have same one. Much better quality than the cheapie generic Amazon brands o had tried in the past. They have sales often snd worth the splurge!
ooo i love it! thanks for sharing! so excited for these products :)
Thank you!!! It is a great line!
Did u ever get your scalp issues figured out? What was the culprit/solution? 😊
Yeah. The fragrances in curlsmith products were too strong for my sensitive skin.
How would you compare the cream with the weightless air dry cream?
Yay! I've been waiting for a review on these!
Does the shampoo and conditioner have that scent like the gel? I bought the gel and it smells a little like paint so curious if it’s similar with the other products
Courtney, what is that gadget called U used for day 2 refresh? 🤔
Very shiny!! You are so adorable ♥️! Love your videos!!
You are so kind!
I have MCS and I have no idea how they think these are fragrance free. Very strong to me except for maybe the oil, but couldn’t use that either. Definitely not frag free but I appreciated the effort!
I literally had the new hard hold gel in my hand and put it back saying, maybe Courtney will do a video on this soon lol
🤣🤣🤣 You know it! Love Curlsmith and even better now they have a whole line of fragrance free products!
Does the hard gel feel producty after day two?
I am so sad that it contains jasmine. I am allergic. I almost bought the kit when I noticed it.
Awe! I'm sorry, that's a bummer! 😔
Curlsmith really think about their formulations. I love shiny smooth hair the most.
They truly do! It is one of things I love about them!
Your hair looks so seaweedy!! I love it!!! ❤️
Thank you!! Love me some seaweedy hair!
What's the other fragrance free line?
I love this washday result!😍
Thank you!
I am allergic to jasmine. Jasmine and even lemon peel are fragrances, so their label is inaccurate.
I see glycerine is high up on most of these products' ingredients. Did you find that to be an issue in a dry winter environment? I live in a desert where for most of the year humidity is at 15%.
You poor thing . I visited NM for like 5 days and the dryness bothered me. Humidifier...!
@@jennyrose9454 yes, I have a heavy duty hundifier in my room, but as soon as I leave my room and go outside or to work, my hair shrivels and goes limp and frizzy. And right now I have to keep it turned off because my windows all have sheets of ice from weeks of -20F temps!
@@mtcelticharper oh wow. If it makes you feel better as soon as it goes under 40 degrees I get chillblains☹️
@@jennyrose9454 I have fibromyalgia, and winter on the subzero, dry Montana plains is pure misery.
You should try Miss Jessie's Pillow Soft Curls!
Have you tried the fragrance free SEEN haircare line?
can you try maui products
One of the best washdays ever 🤩
Would love to know the steamer used please
Your eyes are so beautiful oh my!!!!
I am laughing so hard. I am allergic to most fragrances because I am allergic to citrus and citrus is a very common fragrance ingredient. I'm also allergic to hops. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
oh goodness! That's tough!
Wow so pretty!
Do you get credit if I use your link still? I don't think i can buy these locally in my city but your code does not work. I mainly wanna make sure you get commission though!!
You are so sweet! If you order off of Curlsmith website and use COURTNEY10 you get 10% off and I should get credit for the sale.
@@SwavyCurlyCourtneyI absolutely love the products!!! They shipped super fast! I got them two days later!! My hair looks so good!! ❤ I had ordered the mini size but I’m going back now to grab the full size though your link 😁
Funny that you posted this cus today I realized every time I use the multitasking protein conditioner from them I get really nauseous. I think their scents are just too strong for me!
Awe bummer! But I totally get this! I hope these work out for you!
I love curlsmith. That will be the only brand I ever buy ... when I use up most of the 1000 products I bought trying to find my holy grail.
I can see that. It is a fantastic brand!
Love the packaging!
It's simple but looks really nice!
Shout out to the pregnant ladies with curly hair who are sick of the smells. You’re not alone. Just ordered.
🥰🥰🥰 Hope they help!
It worked really well btw! Getting compliments on my hair.
What a pretty wash day!
Awe, thank you!
That's some shine you could see from space.🤣❤️
🤣🤣🤣Love this! 🛸🛸
Dang it. I didn’t know this was a thing and I have all their stuff.
They just released this line!
