  • I'm too cheap to pay a garage to mount my tires on rims.
    It takes about 30 seconds to install a new valve stem;
    and about 60 second to mount the tire;
    another 60 seconds to inflate.
    Then, I'll bring them to a garage and pay $8/each for high speed balancing.

    What kinda sandals did you use to lock the tire in place.

    Let's see you take the old rim off the tire. You're right, it's easy to do it with a NEW rim and NEW tire.

    Showoff!! Good job, got to go try it on my garden tractor. I'm wondering if the small diameter of the bead on my lawn tractor could be part of the problem, or the small amount of brain in the installer.

    Sorry i saw a comment that its a valve fishing tool. One more question using a compressor what psi do you inflate at?

  • @Camaros5678
    @Camaros5678 10 років тому

    stchman Depending on how many miles are on the old tires they can actually be easier to dismount them than to mount new tires, especially on a lower profile tire.

    Just curious is there a special tool you used to push the valve stem out to seat properly? It looks like a wire. Also where do you buy your valve stems?

    Why does everyone on UA-cam mount the tire from the front facing of the rim? Wouldn't you do it from the backside to prevent scratches on the outside of the rim

      i think it has something to do with the valve?

      lol, im a tire man , you have what is called a mounting notch, if you notice, the indentation is closer to the top of the rim rather then the bottom, so that means you would mount it from the face of rim up. if you understand what I mean. that's where the tire sits when its being mounted. if you were to try and mount it from the other side, you chance ripping a bead, bending the aluminum rim, or costing yourself a lot of money. always mount with indentation up.

    What about balancing? In your opinion is it worth it to do your own mounting and just pay for balancing or do they rip you off with balancing because they did'nt do the mounting. I want to buy tires on line but after shipping costs and mount/balance it comes out to cost the same.

    Is it possible for the tire bead to break when stepping on and prying the tire over the lip? Or is it unlikely? Because I heard that a torn tire bead can cause an explosion..

    • @scoobinater
      @scoobinater  6 років тому

      highly unlikely,,, unless you weigh 900 pounds and use all of your force.

    On a truck tire with decent sidewalls, this is impossible.

      Wasiq Mohammad but sometimes they make you wait hours just mount a tire. Everyone should know how to mount a tire just in case.

    that looks like bullshit either that tire has barely any cable in the bead or something else is going on because most tires don't just slip on like that

      i only watched this video because i was trying to see if i was missing something while doing a tire and i did exactly the same thing as this guy and it didnt work so your OPINION doesnt matter. i also dont give a shit about that because it is not that important on youtube comments
