The big societal divide towards violence occurred starting in 2008. However societal shifts almost always involve some level of violence, e.g. late 1960’s. Expect more violence in the months and years to come.
Awesome review brotha! We don’t get this until Thursday in the U.K. but I am intrigued to check it out. I look forward to seeing your TikTok with Rashad!
I don’t understand how there is not more unity in America… I don’t get how America has gotten away from their roots of Minimal Government, individual liberty, and personal responsibilities, it seems in America there are only two groups those who want wayyy less government in their life and those who want to rules over by government for the sake of safety and security. I believe you hit the nail on the head with this very in-depth review Brother I agree with a lot of the points you made, especially with the sound design. I’ve seen many of action and war movies but no film in recent memory has made me jump out of my chair, the way a gunshot did in this film. Deff enjoyed your thoughts and the movie 🔥
I think the most chilling part of the preview of this movie is when its said: "Ok, well what kind of American are you?" Because we are quickly evolving into this nightmare.
Awesome to see you were able to check this out early def one I have got my eye on as I have been hearing nothing but great things on this movie was not expecting how the movie went but that just makes it sounds even better especially having the gun and sound design make it scary great review man
Sounds interesting, but frankly, with the incindiary nature of the subject matter, I'm taking a pass going into a theatre to see it. Never know what nutjobs lurking in theatre crowds that this could trigger. Think I'll wait for when it goes on pay-per-view.
so very well said, great review. One standout you were especially right about is the gunshots. Almost similar to when a film can really properly sell the severity of a characters death (when so often lately its done solely for plot and lacks the proper weight of it). this was one of the first to truly sell the horror of pulling the trigger. Each scene with one bullet shot heard was so ominous to what it meant, and the barrage of bullet sounds were so overwhelming and disorienting. i cant stop thinking about this movie
I have to admit I don't know how I feel about it. I mean, I live in LA and there his a human rights crisis right outside my door so the film just reminds me of life.
This movie A24 wants it to be a big commercial success so it can fund their typical more artsy films. I’ve heard the journalists in the film are supposed to provide a neutral point of view. I enjoyed this review and appreciate no big spoilers.
Director Garland chose the age of each main character carefully. Notice how each main character age spans the current generations so that viewers can see, experience and understand with them.
Honestly that was a great review. I'm curious to go see this movie. Being a Canadian I have a different view on the American divisiveness we're seeing. Although I know you kind of went off on a tangent I love your explanation of how on social media we can look at something horrific like what's happening between Palestine and Israel or what's happening with the Ukraine and Russia.... And it's horrific and upsetting and then we scroll on past and look at a cat video I'm laughing almost forget what we were just looking at a few seconds ago. That's actually a poignant observation
Dude, there is freedom and liberty or there isn't. The EEU became the EU, Globalist big corporations support the EU. America got a president that undid 160 years of the races and genders getting along. That is where we are. It all comes down to Plato's "The Republic", Mao's "Red Book", Lenin's writings, and of course Marx and deciding which team you are on. This movie is political as it can get because "War is nothing but a continuation of politics with the admixture of other means." Karl von Clausewitz.
"160 years of the races and genders getting along." - only so long as the "right" races and genders were on top... if you call that "getting along". Reform wasn't necessary because everyone just naturally played nice.
@@Malt454 the tension between the races had dramatically lessened since 1865. B Hussein Obama purposely undid that. Btw, white liberal woman are the ones who have worked masterfully to keep black people in check. The rest of team delta also. Really liked your description of modern life shaped by short attention spans and social media. It's super accurate. Also thanks for not being super political in your review..... It's just a movie and we should treat it as such.
Thanks so much for watching! Appreciate the kind words! And yeah, I tried to not lean too much into politics. Thankfully, the movie doesn’t lean too much to either side, which made it easier to avoid.
What will happen to our military forces around the world? And our thousands of nuclear weapons? And a second Civil War would cause shockwaves in the global economy.
Today, I watched "Civil War" at the theater. It was terrible. The movie had an excessive and unnecessary use of profanity words, such as "f**k." The film centers on a news press team's expedition through the Civil War region, capturing news photographs as they travel from New York City to Washington, D.C. The scariest moment happened when two deranged soldiers held a press team captive in a mass grave site. They asked the press team, "What kind of American are you?". The soldier, without mercy, shot and killed two individuals who were not American and made threats to harm the three remaining news press teams. Thankfully, they escaped unharmed as the heavyset African American driver used the media car to take out two insane soldiers. I felt intense by the sound effects and loud gunfire. In the movie's ending scene, the rebel army mercilessly killed the U.S. president. The entire situation made no sense, with no explanation for states seceding and rebelling.
@@AnthonyAPerez Nothing sillier than an ignorant shameless British dude making a film about “pending civil war” in America & puts Texas & California in the same camp! 🤷♀️
It was genius to name California and Texas as the secessionists. If it had been California had seceded, it would be natural to assume the President was conservative. If Texas, a natural assumption would be the President was Liberal. With both, you can't determine the cause of the war.

The left just got weak and stopped representing working class. In any case we are where we are and I'm interested in this film. I've been thinking about how a civil war could happen.
For sure, which is why I mentioned that I was just a kid and realize there was still very much division before that time and during that time.
