Often called "The poor man's ruby", "The great imposter", "Nature's Gemstone Identity Thief", "Ruby's look alike", this multi-color gemstone has been confused with ruby for a long time now. It comes as no surprise that many historical pieces of jewelry thought to be rubies are in reality spinel gemstones!

Well documented again! Natural, synthetic and imitations. Certificates needed! At the end all depends of the buyer's wallet.

Exactly! Every stone should be certified.

some time ago. I got a Burmese Ruby of more than 45 carats but it is cut by hand, its facets are not well defined. I already put them through the tests and it is indeed a Ruby but. I think the cut detracts from its value. Or do you think that is very important? I think so. I even think that it can be improved even if it loses size and weight, which would make it more valuable than being poorly cut. I would like to know your opinion. since I have another one of the same shape of more than 50 carats. but cut. artisanal which to be safer. I need a microscope to identify myself. some inclusion that determines its authenticity
