Fun fact, the anxiety nosebleed actually makes perfect sense.
A lot of people don't know, and I didn't even know until recently that the adrenaline released when you get anxious causes nose engorgement. And nose engorgement can sometimes lead to nosebleeds.
Bonus fun fact: For me and many others, anxiety causes excess sniffing throughout the day because when your nose is engorged due to the adrenaline, your body feels like it's not getting enough oxygen and needs to sniff a lot to get extra air intake. I am frequently anxious and find myself excessively sniffing all the time, and it drives my husband absolutely bonkers. Can't help it, though. 😅

As someone with a deviated septum (broken nose) this can also increase nose bleeds and often causes the same issue. Potential solutions are cauterizing the exposed artery or re-break the nose, and put it back to its original position. Hope this helps someone!

“My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancé” - Now that was some great American television. Premise is a woman has to convince she’s met a man on a dating show and truly loves him and is now filming the lead up to the wedding. This man isn’t the typical Bachelor contestant and does everything to be obnoxious. She wins the show if she can get through the wedding without her family objecting. It was great!

Nosebleeds are something that can be caused by stress, I used to get them a lot during high school because I was under a lot of pressure. And he definitely is feeling stressed by all this, but I think for SURE he also has some other underlying issue (within his nose, his sinuses, an anxiety disorder, etc) for it to be such a common problem for him.

The fact that this show was made by Ashton Kutcher is wild. I’m surprised nobody has done a video on it because it was kind of a big deal on WB (which is now CW) and lasted several seasons.
I didn’t watch it when it was first on, but the old cable network Fox Reality would marathon it and that’s how I saw it. It’s such a weird show, but it’s strangely charming. This was a few years before nerd culture became popular, so it was ahead of its time.

Thank you Gunnar for being so cool with the Lilly thing! Proud of her and happy for her! And no, it isn't disrespectful to refer to her as the way she presented on the show, especially since you aren't doing it out of malice. I do the same for my past self, it makes it less confusing to talk about. Granted, it can vary by person, but in this case it was handled really well and very respectfully!

@@throwpup I'm trans, calm down! Believe me, I know! But obviously, like Gunnar said, it's confusing speaking about a person we wouldn't have known was even trans if not for a twitch commenter updating us. So using the pronouns they use in the show is literally fine.

@@throwpup Yeah, that's absolutely fair, no trans person likes to be deadnamed like that. It does depend on the individual and the situation for sure ! I don't think Gunnar would purposely misgender her, especially since he apologized for doing so too. Some people just kinda split their life into two people and it's easier that way to talk about themselves pre transition. I just think in a situation like this where they're on a show with gender specific roles in this game, it's better to use what the show is using and apologize for it's lack of consistency, rather than all the transphobic comments that could've been made by Gunnar/all the transphobes watching this show shit with us. Y'know? IDK I hope that makes sense 😭

Trans girl here. It definitely depends on the person and what they say is okay. In normal situations, it’s best to always use present pronouns and name to refer to someone in the past. Here, it’s complicated because her perceived gender at the time is relevant to the tv show, and everyone in it is to some extent playing a character that’s questionably real. Personally, I think it would be better to use the new pronouns and new name unless she has specified otherwise at some point.
That said, it’s a situation that’s complicated so I don’t at all blame anyone that chooses to go with the easier option. It’s not as if Gunnar is acting with bad intent (and has acknowledged the weirdness of the situation), which is what matters the most.

@@charlottegerken4477 That's true, but there's a scale. There are plenty of reality shows where the inauthenticity is not in the contestants but in the producers interfering and setting things up for specific outcomes. Honestly I don't mind those so much. Ratings are ratings. But then there are extra egregious shows like this one where the participants themselves are doing a lot of the faking, and that's less fun for me personally.
