Mmmm you need to check your numbers. By which metric are you claiming Toronto is the fastest growing city in NA? From what I can find, San Antonio beats Toronto by city increase, the Dallas-Ft. Worth beats Toronto by metro numbers. And those two Texas cities have been beating Toronto for a long time.

Toronto has already surpassed Chicago in numbers. Height is coming, but Chicago will always remain more diverse in its tall buildings simply because its history as a big city is longer and some of the first skyscrapers were there.

You have to hear this from someone who's in Construction in Toronto. This video is so misleading! There are an incredible amount of projects being either paused or all together cancelled! The high interest rates are keeping people from buying condos. if not enough are sold, then the building can't go ahead. This crew who ran water into my site told me (The boss). Their team alone in a very short amount of time had 7 future projects completely cancelled. That means them alone lost work for 7 future buildings going up. That was in Dec ,2022! Now it's much worse! I've seen sites with fencing and photos just sitting there stagnant for over 1 year. One Yonge looked like it was paused for several months, I drive by every day and the cranes just sat still, no progress able to be seen. One Bloor has gone into receivership. Can't build. It is a total mess in Toronto! Homeless rate is out of control! Drug use is out of control! You hear police sirens non stop! Sure there are cranes up and running.. there are projects started that will finish but new ones.... they're coming up extremely slower than they should be! At the speed things are going... Toronto will definitely not look like this by 2030.. I can pretty much guarantee that! I should know, I hear a lot more than other people because I work with the guys who build those towers. There are some who are slowing things down a bit because they already know that after the project is over.. they don't have another one to go to! Trust me! Not Good In Toronto!

The "elephant in the room" that the narrator chooses not to talk about in this bland promo video is the irony of luxury condo skyscrapers as part of a "solution" to a housing crisis in Toronto. After decades of stagnant wages, a housing bubble and a financial crisis: Here comes the solution - LUXURY CONDOS! More money laundering, shell companies, and unaffordable real-estate for Canada while more and more locals are experiencing either housing instability or outright homelessness. A well made video. The transformation taking place 2007-2024 has been astonishing. There will always be criticisms and areas where the city falls short, but overall, Toronto is getting better, more vibrant, and more polished each passing year. Skyscrapers get the bulk of the attention but don't tell the whole story The Port Lands redevelopment/waterfront improvements, investments in rail, heritage restorations, and the gradual rebuild of the public realm/pedestrianization deserve a spotlight shone on them.

I always love a skyscraper boom but especially one that is set to break height records in this nation! Same thing in theory is happening in Edmonton with 3 projects racing to break the 300m mark but there have been way way more setbacks... The Edmontonian, Alldritt Tower and Katz' upcoming ICE District "Signature" Tower are all to hit or cross the 300m mark, but all have been placed on the backburner due to the inflation increase. Still Edmonton is second only to Orlando in terms of 10-year population growth rates in major cities in North America at 22% in 10 years... And last year the city added 100,000 people to the metro with about half settling in the city itself and the rest in the bedroom community belt...

@PaulLynch71 It didn't get me in a tizzy, believe me. Skin thicker than elephant hide, especially when it comes to the internet. Allot of people just don't think transit is universally beneficial because in many North American cities it is seen as a mode of transport for the poor only. Toronto, Montreal, New York...maybe Chicago are kind of exceptions to this rule...And it's a pretty lame system to be sure but should improve and is still often much faster than driving, particularly if you don't leave the old Toronto neighborhoods. One of the reasons people in this city are even able to acquire wealth in the first place is access to reliable(ish) and convenient transit when starting out as cars and car centric lifestyles are some of the biggest money suckers out there. No, though I have good news for you.
My Calgary relative has changed his mind and now thinks that Calgary's skyline looks more impressive from the air than does the skyline of Mississauga whereas he felt the reverse before.
And as the Cranes index generally shows as many high rises under construction in Toronto as the next 13 North American cities combined including Calgary there is absolutely no prospect of Calgary catching up to Toronto in this matter.
The skylines of Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Montreal look beautiful but in terms of scale they are not at the same level as the Toronto skyline.
Calgary certainly does punch above its weight in skyscrapers competing and surpassing much bigger American cities
but Toronto has about 4 times as many skyscrapers
      (buildings over 150 metres)
as does Calgary and that's not counting skyscrapers in Mississauga and other parts of the GTA.
