That weather in the beginning looks like here! Man, it's still a long way to go until spring. Cool that you got the last Elevator's LP, I also think it's well worth getting. And I'm ready to go as far as saying that "May the Circle Remain Unbroken" is the finest track they've done, I just love it. It's one of those songs you can put on repeat and get lost in. Like a mantra. The Cannanes is new to me, sounds interesting. Always a lot to learn and be inspired by in your absorptions. Looking forward to your 2024 wrap up and stream. Cheers!
Hey Jonas. If you're into Beat Happening at all, or bands of that specific low-fi indie style (which I'm guessing you are), then the Cannanes should register on your like-o-meter. Similar to Young Marble Giants or Marine Girls as well. The thing about May The Circle is its a total surprise. I remember the first time I heard it I was shocked it was the closer. It seems to come out of nowhere. There's nothing else like it in their discography or anything close on that album. A stunning song and closer. Yes a bunch more to come before the end of the year!
Not aware of that Local Colour LP. I have heard of Abner Jay, but first time to hear some of his music. Looking forward to all of these planned videos. Thanks, Chris
Mississippi is a good place to go to get some of the Abner Jay reissues and comps cheap. True Story of Abner Jay or Folk Song Stylist are great places to start
It’s a free record, an avant guarde that shouldn’t scare you too much lol. That would be in my category Dom. That Donnti at the start was a good listen and of course I do like Henderson. As a,ways love your openings
Love the Hendo and Peter Lemer. That Humair trio is very good, I recommend you check out Akagera as well, I think you would dig it. I sold my 13th Floor Elevators stuff a while back, sort of regret, but I never pulled them. Good showing as always Dom.
No point in keeping something around if it won't get played. Might as well turn that into something that will, and those ain't cheap records to keep around. I will indeed locate that Akagera. Thanks so much Tom!
some great additions/absorptions, I found that Hassell record in Japan over the summer. Really liked the sound of that Iris album Brandon gave you as well
That Humair record sounds really interesting, I’ll be adding that to my list! Great records shown, always enjoy these videos and learn so much new music!
When will I see you back on the tubes. As much as I enjoy your Insta productions, I prefer longer form Rev. Plus I don't scroll Insta that much so I miss stuff
Man I am craving them Donnini records! I listened to an Italian record this weekend that I thought may be up your alley, it’s Lino Capra Vaccina Antico Adagio, I’d say it in the “ mind meld” category. Cheers Dom!
Oooh that's a spicey one that Antico Adagio, I will give it a look / listen. Don't believe I;ve seen that before. Doesnt look like the original is in my future. Doubtful anyway, but always good to know and want more!
Some great albums features - I'm particularly taken by the Jon Hassell - which i had never heard of before. Glab to see Bull of the Woods get some love. It's an album that still seems to get overlooked by fans of the band. May the Circle Remain Unbroken was on a crappy old cassette-tape that I had in HS called "The 13th Floor Elevators Greatest Hits". lol. Mostly, poorly recorded live material. Nevertheless, it was a fun comp to have at the time and was the beginning of my fascination w/ Roky Erickson.
Hey Shawn. I have some records and comps like that. Ones that were totally bogus in many ways but were the source for important music in your life. In a way those formats and releases have their own special sound and feel to them that registers in their own way. I can vibe with a shitty old worn tape!
Humaire, Jeanneau, Texier, you can't go wrong with those threes. I grabbed some jeanneau solo this year and it's really rewarding too. He experimented with synths, winds and effects like later michel Portal kinda did but with a different result. Great vid as always!
I couldn't agree more, really enjoying and digging deeper into French jazz. I love the perspective they had. I don't have any Jeanneau solo records yet so that's another one for me to dig into. Appreciate you checking in!
So yes, I played the Humair, Jaume, Donninis, Ortega, l'Infonie albums, and some others, in the stream, we soon gonna be able to holiday house swap with little damage, but please get rid of the emo indie ^^
Personally, I'm more frightened by polka than free jazz! Surprised that JA Deane is is only playing percussion, as his primary instrument is a highly processed trombone, with similar results to Hassel's trumpet. Trios, with Butch Morris and Bill Horvitz is a good example of his playing. Chuck Domanico (pronounced doe mon uh co) is also on some early Tom Scott records (rural still life is a good one) as well as spirit feel by Roger Kellaway. Those hat art records take up a lot of space on the shelves. I have 12 of them.
Ah good insights Scott. Dig those Tom Scott records but the prices have gone pretty bonkers on em and not quite worth it to me. California Dreaming is of course a big one. Cool, JA Deane sounds like he'd be friends with Stuart Dempster and Craig Kupka.
Huge Congrats on getting a OG of Bull of The Woods, less electric jug is good with me. What a find
Right, if I remember correctly you are one of those "no-jug" elevators fans.

@@seekingathread You know it! Yes I dig that kind of lofi. I listened to a few track and sounded great. Thanks for recommending :)
By the way, very cool the you got the Australian pink one!

Legendary Abner Jay footage. Awesome to see that man.

Yes I think that one is your speed Thijs. The Brandon vclt that is.
the jaume is excellent. haven't spun that hassell in a long time, need to revisit. cool indian record--can't beat that for a buck.
Indeed. That Aux 33 haul from August continues to reward.
That Humair record sounds really interesting, I’ll be adding that to my list! Great records shown, always enjoy these videos and learn so much new music!
Hey Joe. I could see that Humair sittin in the Bop Shop jazz section! It is a very vibrant recording, absolutely wonderful.
Stellar as always, sir.

I bought 2 of the other Hassell records from Lance! Think they were part of a great collection he got.
I saw those come through, I believe I had the other those but cool you grabbed them. I really like the nightly Permanent dumps!
I love Cul de Sac, but have only cds for example Stranglers Wife is really good, but also that might not be issued on vinyl. Donnini sounds good.
Right, Cul De Sac seems to mainly be CDs. Their record with Fahey is only CD and would love to see that issued on vinyl.
So yes, I played the Humair, Jaume, Donninis, Ortega, l'Infonie albums, and some others, in the stream, we soon gonna be able to holiday house swap with little damage, but please get rid of the emo indie ^^
Emo indie, don't believe I have any of that. Only the good stuff here. I'll take that trade though!
Cuneiform records rules

I’m done with Jazz. Certainly Worldly Jazz.
It's a big world though Rich!
@ I’m in the twilight years and I don’t feel like spending it listening to Jazz.
