- Just kidding my face is fine but these chords are incredible and they sang them so well! This is the group Gimme Four singing "Good Morning" from Singing In the Rain (arrangement by David Wright) at the 2023 Barbershop Harmony Society International Convention. Okay but can we talk about how PERFECTLY synchronized their "s" was on the last "so fine"??
I think there's something about barbershop music that makes anyone who listens to it and has even the vaguest amount of musical knowledge go OOOOOHHHH YEAAAAHHHHH and pull the stank face as soon as they hit the chord, yk?
Gimme Four did stellar this year
never heard a tag like that before!
one of my favourite tags of the entire contest! This one, Trolley Song and Stonehenge were my top 3!
I along with my high school quartet had the privilege to get hands on coaching from these guys for one of the BHS's workshop weekends, they're really nice guys and they really know what they're doing out there. great to see them still together and doing so well all these years later!
not to brag but I'm facebook friends with these guys
The way that lead is belting those B4 notes in the tag is absolutely insane. Love it!
THIS QUARTET IS SO LOUD IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE I LOVE IT
Face meltingly gorgeous!
David Wright, you're a genius arranger, and these guys did you proud! (From the daughter of a 44 year member of SPEBQSA)
The chord at "fine" is so juicy 0:31 and 0:42 and pretty much everything after that.
This reminds me of take sixes harmonies, so good
is it just me or it is so easy to hear every part. like sometimes I have to really listen to hear the bari bc they get hidden in the harmony, but I literally heard every part and was able to follow as well
Just sayin... they were spot-on intonation on the last chord of their song. C# major!
i'd recommend looking up the 7th hour podcast on youtube, and going to the 1:09:20 timestamp on episode 2 - they make a very funny remark about this comment
golly golly golly that's good!!!
Fantastic overtone holy crap
Wow that's impressive
POV: you’re a man who just had the worst night of your life, and someone just asked you, “how are you?” 0:30
That final chord...jesus. Overtones for days!
And that key signature....ugh. As a former brass player, I HATED that...I'd rather see tons of accidentals than a key sig like that!
I know exactly what you mean, I try to play along and there's always that one song that's a nightmare
These facial expressions are what I would expect if 4 serial killers formed a barbershop group.
Am I the only one cringing at the key signature having 7 sharps instead of 5 flats? 😖
lol I didn't like it either, but it unfortunately worked better for the tag because in the tag there would've been a whole load of double flats for almost every single chord and it just didn't look good at all compared to the sharps and just a few naturals
That's what I was thinking too.
@@jasonfieler I went for the whole tune and ended up with the tag in D- my guess is they lost a half step over the course of the song (who can blame them?).
They sang well, despite being 50%-75% gay.
Bro what
@user-pq1jz6vp3q just ignore it, not worth your time to deal with this kind of ignorance
Can you verify?
I had to receive cpr from reading this 💀💀💀
Oh, now we're calling the 1990’s the Gay Nineties…assuming, of course, they were born in the 1990’s?
