      @@I-A-P-W-T-M-O I would go as far as the ingenius way of this concept is the fact, that it can actually be both and fading between the modes pretty seamlessly. To be fair, oculus tries to make pure VR mainstream with price and volume. So there are areas where they have to kind of cheap out where Apple is piling on. Their main mistake at the moment might be to push the product with a social dimension, when it inherently is an isolating solo device to begin with. And no, putting eyeball stickers on the oculus doesn't count. Yes, Apple is getting flak because it lseems to look creepy with rhe outside display, but short of having transparent and panoramic screens with the needed brightness and resolution, The Apple Vision Pro is as good as it gets, even as a Prototype with a launch date a year out.

    I think apple devices such as the new iPhones lack some features that android have but should be available on iPhones, but the fact that this new headset integrates so well with the ecosystem (they showed us with a MacBook working as a input device for the controls on the screen provided by the headset); it will probably integrate into the ecosystem flawlessly! Something that would be great is if iPhone had the wireless charging that charges other devices for the battery on vision pro. That could make it last much longer. Great detailed video!

      The XR3 will be over 3 years old when Apple's headset releases. And it's a commercial headset. It's pricing isn't comparable to consumer headsets because it includes high availability service as mission critical hardware. Also the XR3 has an actual retina display at 70PPD whereas the Apple Vision Pro, if you do the math based on the numbers Apple provided, will have ~40PPD.

    Exellent video and very accurate presentation. I find it quite interesting that there are quite a lot of people that dislike Apple. I would not call myself a fanboy because I tend to try a lot of stuff out there and love tech in general but the thing with Apple products is that they work extremely well out of the box on majority of the cases. I used to have windows laptop over 12 years ago and friend convinced me to try Mac!! Never looked back since and I wondered how come u did not do this before. And an interesting fact, most people who dislike Apple more than likely have never tried or owned and Apple device. As for the price of this device, it's a first gen and am sure Apple is working on a cheaper version. I guess Apple Vision Pro will evolve rapidly and in a decade or so from now these will look no different from a pair of sunglasses.

      I dislike their walled garden. Plus, the Mac interface confuses the hell out of me. I'm sure I could get used to it, but I'm so used to windows and can do more with windows, so there's really been no reason to switch.

      I used to not care about Apple. I’ve been using/programming computers since the late 70’s. Apple always made overpriced, underpowered shiny objects.
      But since the iPhone, everyone has begun copying them. Which means we now no longer have replaceable batteries, SD-Card slots, no headphone jack, can’t replace the OS, fewer ports on laptops, etc, etc. On top of that, Apple has spent millions to prevent right-to-repair.
      If you don’t fit perfectly into what Apple want you to do with your computing devices, they don’t care about you. It wouldn’t have been a problem if everyone else didn’t copy their anti-consumer practices, but here we are.

But it is so cool than you look at a desktop and it’s just automatically beam out into large screen display and you can operate it just like the desktop with no lag and precision. I think the two key technologies here are: 1. constant and precision eyes tracking 2. Super fast cloud sync with wifi connectivity between desktop and headset

    How fluid and natural this will feel is why this is going to overtake the market, just like the iPhone did. The iPhone was such bombshell tech when it landed because of how it’s what people already wanted and it made it so natural and easy to use that a 2 year old could figure it out. Their was nothing else quite like it, it redefined the what a smart phone is and they all got better because of it. This is about to be the next iPhone and it’s gong to do the same thing, but likely in a much bigger way. When you look back, the iPhone really was a pivoting point that effected the whole of society. This feel like it’s gonna do the same. That combined with robots, ai and maybe even aliens, apparently. The next couple of years is going to get very interesting…..

      One of the things we’ve got to remember is, technology is neutral.
      Technology ends up being a reflection of whomever is holding it.
      If there are ‘bad’ people out there, it’s only a matter of time before we will hear from them.

    • @garbhanmyles
      @garbhanmyles Рік тому

      @@geekmeee that is inevitably very true indeed and I agree with what you are saying. On the hand though, AI is arguably changing that neutrality standpoint. We don’t know what AI can and will do as it progresses and advances, and it may no longer just be about the human aspect as this technology may effectively sees itself as separate conscious entities. If you combine all that with something like this Apple device we may be seeing things in the future we cannot foresee now (and may even be considered ridiculous to mention now). There is also the whole “well meaning” monitoring of people by governments with our every move and thought being tracked with the aim of “keeping us all safe”. There’s the whole thing of being so addicted to a virtual world that the real world cannot compete with for many socially Isolated people, so maybe the younger generations are going to face issues that make game addiction look like a walk in the park. 1984 may be around the corner. But hey, what do I know. I’m only wondering about some possibilities. I also think there are some amazing potentials for this as like I said- I think this is one the best things I’ve seen in ages despite this.

    Look, I'm also very excited about this device, but in typical apple fashion, they are announcing features other headsets have had for years as some great invention they've come up with themselves. Whether it's hand tracking (Oculus Quest), Eye Tracking, colour pass through (Quest pro), the virtual cinema, where you can choose your own environment and watch 3d movies with spatial audio (bigscreen app on any headset), there isn't anything terribly new here, except for the ability to shoot spatial videos, which I'm very excited about, but iphones will probably have this feature by default next year. It is also reported that meta quest has much better hand tracking than apple does, though the eye tracking is superior on the vision.
    To me the big deal is all the sensors and processing power, as well as the AI integration that they managed to cram into this device. That's why it's so expensive. But as Zuck said recently on a podcast, they might sell a million of these, whereas Meta is selling tens of millions of Quests. I might buy a cheaper non-pro version down the line, but for now I'll be happy enough upgrading to the quest 3 come this winter.

      well, apple is not developing Vision pro only in couple of years, the difference is that other company release its product first, apple release when they think its ready. and you can see the result from first hands on from every youtuber. Did you think all of the vr/ar engineers from all different companies including Apple didnt think the same? Its common sense you will use your hand, eye tracking, voice, use it for virtual cinema and all of feature that already there with this kind of device.

      Why do you think the M2 will have more processing power than XR2 Gen 2? We haven’t seen any benchmarks yet.
      According to a SoC GPU benchmark, M2 scored 379 fps @ 22.6W = 16.8 fps/watt. SD8Gen2 scored 226 fps @ 7.5W = 30 fps/watt.
      We don’t know yet at what wattage the two headsets will run.

    • @konczk
      @konczk Рік тому +1

      @@NoX-512 Yeah, true, we'll have to see how they benchmark against each other.
      However, I am assuming that with apple running the latest macbook pro chip, as well as having an external battery, it probably runs at a significantly higher wattage and it will have more power, which it needs to run that two 4K+ screens and all the cameras and sensors. Apple also tends to have better optimiziation.
      Also, there is a reason it has an external battery. When you're stressing the battery, by say watching two 4K movies at the same time, which is essentially what spatial video means, you will really heat it up, especially if it's plugged in and charging at the same time. That's why the Quest 2 can only utiliise about half the performance of its snapdragon chipset, they don't want it to overheat. I also had an oculus go, which regularly overheated for this reason and you weren't supposed to use it whilst plugged in. The quest 3 will have a better thermal profile and cooling, but I still think it won't be able to fully utilize the power of the Xr2 chip. Apple will have a headstart, because of their better optimisiation, especially running ios, rather than android (modified in both cases, but that's the basis of both OSes) and the external battery which can heat up to its heart content well away from the device itself. I also suspect the metal body will be better for cooling as is also the case with ultrabooks.
      We'll just have to see once both of these come out and can be compared side to side. I think the vision pro will remain a niche product, but once the non-pro version comes out in 2025 and developers bring out a ton of apps, it will really start to take off. I do plan to get the quest 3 though and will wait and see if investing in the apple ecosystem would be worth my while.

      @@konczk Yeah, the external battery is to reduce weight and heat. I wouldn't mind that approach if it were smart glasses.
      Quest 2 was also held back by Quest 1. Developers targeted the old headset. The same thing will be true for Q3/Q2. It also takes time for devs to learn how to best optimize their games for new tech.

    Apple is hiding something! What is this device really? Is it a glorified screen? We look at some of the issues, does it come with memory? Can you buy it with a different memory? Does it store the movies on the device or do you have to connected to another device like your iPhone or iPad? I didn’t notice by looking at the photos that if you want that on plane advantage, you need to have a pair of EarPods. Yes, there is no mention!

Right now it appears to be an iPhone on your head as far as computer power excepting for the chip. if you have any other information, it would be extremely appreciated even though it’s not coming out for almost a year.

    Why would they want to use a persona in a video chat instead of real time video of you like what is shown on the iPhone? I figure maybe because it burns the battery out too quick?
    Second, I never like Apple as a company. Their paywall and restriction is horrible. I like Android and the open source. However, I agreed that this device might become popular when it is released. I am sure by then, other companies are looking to come out with their own AR/VR versions of the headset as well...such as Samsung. So far, what I don't like about Pro Vision is the inability to play any game such as Steam games. Again, this go back to why I hate Apple, they're not open source...everything you do is exclusive to Apple. iMac, iPhone...i bet you can't project a laptop screen on the AR/VR world unless you own an iMac lol.
