Thank you. Frank was one of the greats! I remember his marathon victory .
Frank and Bill Rodgers helped influence me to be a runner and life-long multisport athlete. Thank you, Frank!
me too!
12 years old and watching you bound through the wet streets of Munich started my less than noteable 25 year running career Frank. Running in the cold, rain, snow and heat taught me so much about me. Thank you for being a Great example Frank. Truly something to be proud of.
I remember seeing Frank, Lasse, Steve(Prefontaine), Bill Rogers, Rod Dixon,,, call me an old timer too.
i watched you win the gold medal...i was drink beer and smoking at the time...but i decided t would start to run,,,and i did for 17 years...thanks frank...i no longer drink or smoke...thanks frank...you changed my life
My brother David and I ran HS Cc n Track Races with Steve in 1965-68 he was in the lead in fact my brother Bill ran Against U of O in Xcountry and Track in 1968-69
Great interview...thanks!!!...would love to purchase one of those shirts👍👍
The interviewer should have asked him about Montreal as well.
Many years ago Shorter was in Hawaii doing promotional work for the Honolulu Marathon. As part of his duties he participated (not ran) in the race. There is a picture of my friend John 10 feet behind Shorter very close to the finishing line. John being a man of character did not even attempt to pass him, so he could say I beat Frank Shorter in a marathon. I'm Canadian but I still remember the excitement of seeing him win the GOLD. Rumor has it he had two litres of German beer the night before the race.
That’s no rumour. He did drink beer the night before.
I’m sure it was no spur-of-the-minute decision. I’m sure that was a planned part of Frank’s preparation and that he had tried it out in training and other races before doing it at the Olympics.
Lots of carbs!
In todays World.....he would have ZERO chance...💩💩💩💩
