    thanks for these great videos . Love your precise, scientific approach to everything you do. One question I’ve always had is whether arm wrestlers prepare the exact same way for every opponent. Would you do the same exercises to prepare for Irakli as you would for John? Or would you change them up depending on your opponents’ strengths and weaknesses?

    • @toddhutchings906
      @toddhutchings906  День тому +1

      I change exercises and table time for each opponent. The overall structure hasn’t really changed in 25 years.

  • @brian6speed

    Todd isn't really correct about strongman. Lots of events are about 1 rep maxes like max deadlift where they lift over 1000 lbs. Saying that is a lower level of force is crazy.
    Another example would be the log lift overhead where the record is 509 lbs. I'd love to see an armwrestler do that and say it is low force.

    • @toddhutchings906
      @toddhutchings906  4 дні тому +6

      Todd didn’t really say all strong man events are low force long time. He specified examples to support his point
      Todd also said weight lifting was a high force short time. When Strongman events include weight lifting, like dead lift, pressing etc for max, the same high force short time example would apply.

    Let's say there is a hook hold in a match, in this case alactic anaerobic endurance works, then lactic anaerobic endurance. Let's say we run or swing a kettlebell, the phases of tension and relaxation alternate, aerobic endurance works.

      Im just an amatuer so take it with a grain of salt. But when I get into wars it feels like I just sprinted 100m and im gassed out. But since I started doing sprints I feel gassing out isn’t as big of an issue now for me. Now it’s just I need to be stronger lol which is the main problem everyone has

    • @toddhutchings906
      @toddhutchings906  3 дні тому +1

      @
      When you are in a war, you should be holding your breath, not maximizing your air intake like in a 100m sprint.

      @@toddhutchings906what I’ll do is train m-f and on Saturday I do one of two things I either sprint 100m walk the rest of the lap 300m and do it 4 times to equal a mile or I’ll just sprint 400m take a break then do it again 4x to equal a mile. That’s my weekend running but I personally feel it’s helped me with my armwrestling endurance
