So, Master Sol is in a rage and completely out of control. All the other Jedi are dead, and Jecki was just slaughtered in front of him. We already know that Sol has a greater issue with attachments and emotions than most Jedi, and it makes him vulnerable. Now, a bunch of people he cared for are dead, one of whom (Jecki) he clearly considered to be like a daughter. Its not quite the way he feels that about Osha, but very close. He starts losing control, attacking Qimir when his back was turned. Qimir sees the opening and decides to wedge it wider open by going on a nice, reasonable monologue about his career aspirations as a future Sith lord which, under the circumstances, would have been absolutely infuriating for Sol to hear. Then a Jedi who functions as Sol's derpy stepson or something (Yord) just got brutally killed in front of him. In fury, completely unbalanced and overtaken by his emotions, he uses his abilities to attack. He is aggressive and murderous, taking pleasure in hurting Qimir to punish him. Then, deciding that he alone holds the power of death in his hands (remember that the Jedi of this time were more like sword-armed police than they were knights really,) and he decides to execute Qimir...an unarmed man....on the spot. With the Dark Side of the Force flowing through him, Master Sol begins a long, inexorable fall to evil as he raises his saber to strike. Then, in the last instant before the fall and disgrace of Master Sol is complete...Osha screams at him and he suddenly snaps out of it, putting his weapon down and trying to calm himself. Qimir's helmet, pauldron (on the shoulder,) and vambrace (the part on his hand and arm) are made out of a material called cortosis. Its a very rare metal that has weird conductive properties that cause energy to be reflected back at the source. Think like Black Panther's modern vibranium suit that can absorb and reflect kinetic energy. Its the same thing here but with electricity instead of motion. Qimir's master owns a least one cortosis mine, which is certainly where he's getting it. The downside of cortosis that it is not nearly as strong as many other metals, and thus armor made from it has less overall protective value than other armors. The advantage lay primarily in the energy reflection capacity. This is one reason Qimir isn't bothering with full armor, he's really using strategically placed bits of cortosis armor on his body as a lightsaber nullifying tool. This is why lightsabers keep shorting out, then eventually coming back on. The cortosis momentarily shorted out the circuitry in the saber, and it takes a few seconds for the thing to reboot.
Wow thank you so much for this I learned so much. I understand how the Jedi operate with the unarmed thing but personally I think they should be able to kill someone who is clearly attacking you with the intent to kill. And I don’t understand how Mae’s knives don’t count as her being armed why can’t they pull out their sabers then
@@PierceWestbrook Think of it like cops in our world. A cop runs down a suspect and points his gun at him. The suspect pulls out a box cutter to defend himself/threaten the cop. Cop squeezes the trigger 9 times and kills the guy. He claims that it was justified and that he was only defending himself. The man with body armor, a high capacity firearm, a taser, mace, a night stick, a knife and most likely an M4 in his trunk was frightened for his life. The guy in constant radio contact with all of the other cops who are currently haul-assing their way here, speeding and blowing through lights...was afraid for his life. The guy who is getting air support from a police helicopter and is most likely already not alone in the situation as he is standing next to his partner or another cop or two who has arrived...this guy is afraid for his life. Because of a box cutter. Now...what were we talking about? Oh, yeah...Mae and her six inch throwing knives. Indara only died because Mae tricked her into getting distracted, up until that point Mae was getting thoroughly washed by Indara who was just going hands. If Indara stabbed up Mae with a fucking magical plasma sword because she was waving a six inch knife around, I think the Jedi council would have some questions. This is also why Jecki never draws her saber on Mae...there's no point.
Jecki is the only one that stood ten toes on business.
Enjoyed your reaction! Thanks for posting!!
My pleasure!!
