I for one really enjoyed the depth of the explation of the presurisation system. Most people watching this are probably here to learn about the aircraft and aviation in general. I know I am. I plan to watch the whole series and I'm sure by the time I summon the courage to get out of the Cessna 152 and into this, this is going to feel like an old friend.
Thanks so much Evidence.... I also agree with what you feel MS should be doing... lol. I wouldn't mind some of the generous amounts of money they have. Glad you enjoyed though.
Great video, short and to the point! Hope to see more on the TBM since it's the most used GA plane in this game. I noticed that some of the real life checklists call for "flight idle," which seems to be around 30% throttle in-game. Took me a while to figure out what that position is supposed to be...
0:31 and when did this happen, that you start the flightsimulator and the parking brakes are not set? 0:38 turning the bar up seems not really responging, MS FS should fix this 1:54 exactly, I wish they would build in more realistic scenarios, like not enough oil, fuel leak, ants inside the cockpit 2:54 this is super useful, THANK YOU! (engine start, timer and minimum levels after 40 seconds) very good introduction
Great video, I like the way you give a better explanation as to why you do the steps compared to other youtubers. One tip maybe, is that with multi-select switches (ie. aux BP) you can also use your mouse wheel. (This also works with all the AP rotate knobs)
First step after master switch -> Beacon! (FAR 91.209 requires pilots to use anti-collision lights any time an airplane is in operation unless the pilot determines that operating conditions makes it unsafe to have them on.) But nevertheless nice video :-)
@@NOTAM1 You are absolutely right, it isn't necessary for a pilot in a sim to use the beacon.. But then, why go through the whole process when you can just press CTRL + E and it's done.. ? I really wasn't trying to be a smart ass, sorry for that. Just thought it might be a good idea to include that, even if nobody will hardly ever start a real aircraft engine in his life.. Thank you and best regards :-)
In regards to the boot up screens on the display, I've noticed that if you put on your batteries and turn them back off, the next time you turn the battery on again, you will consistently get the initialization screens. I hope that was clear
Phenomenal video! Just an armchair pilot here but I've been flying this plane a few times and love it. Your explanation of the what's and why's and being to the point is spot on. I love cold starting and going through the process, but I didn't know it or understand it fully till now. Well done sir. Is full tank imbalance modeled in the sim?
David Traves Thank for the information. I too tried to use it. Funny, I was thinking the same with the mouse. I found it a bit “fiddly”. I think a better way might be a mouse button with the Ctrl+(1-9). You still will have some movement, but you’re “locked” to that view. Been learning most of my flying on the TBM 930. I’m a new pilot, no nothing. Been doing good with ap and the start of a flight, but do not get how to set up for a landing glide path. Need to learn the radio side of entering a plan. Seems like flying is going to take some time.
David Traves I will look forward to them. It’s been a bit of a stumbling block. I still have fun flying places, but would love to make a planned flight start to finish. Also, right now I’ve been using my flight stick for my throttle, not the best. It would be nice to see a control set up. Seems there are a lot of choices for settings, but not always sure what the best way to have them. Saving money for the throttle (Virpil), as they are not cheap. I also play Star Citizen and its one of the reasons I bought a Virpil flight stick in the first place.
Great video. Thanks a lot. Could you please talk about how throttle and propeller settings relate to the torque, ITT and NG gauges in the TBM 930? I notice that most fly with propellers 100% all the time. Is this appropriate?
I should. That might make a good video, thanks Ole. In the TBM its not like a prop stick in most aircraft. The TBM although variable pitch constant speed is controlled by the ECU electronically so yes, you want to fly 100% all the time because what this is telling you is how feathered the prop is. You would only feather the prop to reduce drag during an engine failure, or on start/stop while parked so that it isn't creating thrust. You wouldn't be saving gas for instance if you reduce or feather the prop by 30%, you'd just be creating less thrust.
@@wollaminfaetter I actually have been considering a video on throttle/prop/mixture and fuel management as you are correct, a number of people never move the prop/mix. after takeoff to manage fuel.
That is very strange. I just start at any gate/ramp and its completely off. Maybe check a setting in your difficulty area under options. I don't know if there is a relevant option in there, but I have them all either disabled or on hard, so there might be something there that is "on when start at ramp" or something. Wish I knew, sorry.
Is it normal for the engine to overheat if throttle is left in LO-idle for too long? That happens in the sim but I'm not sure if it's supposed to since I've seen real TBM startups which keep LO-idle for a lot longer without issue
At the very minimum, developers should make everything on the checklist operable. I don’t think that’s too much to ask. Even for default aircraft, they can at least humor us with a switch going up and down and a light going on and off.
Is this the mode that improves all the aircraft in MSFS (or many of them). Can't remember the name, or is it just the TBM. It may be one I'm not aware of.
Mm, not a good one. Why not turning on the strobe light after the battery, to attract attention to the aircraft and its moving parts which are about to engage. Then why turning on the generator first instead of the battery. Then why the heck not turning off that aural master warning. And why talking about the Garmin screen for almost a minute … Keep making and keep improving, have safe flights
Thanks for making this series of videos. I have been waiting for some detailed tutorials. Question: Why are you leaving the DING DING DING DING DING DING on and overriding your narration. Drives me crazy.
I just had to stop the video. Couldnt take it anymore. It is really difficult to focus on your voice with the damn beeping going on! Maybe it was a good video, I would never know.

I’m overwhelmed with anything more complicated than a 172 g1000!
Thank you, the in-game checklist didn't make it very clear to leave hi idle relatively fast, so my start up attempts was failed by ITT being too high.
Exactly the same for me. Thanks for that video :)
Microsoft should be paying you generous sums of money for these tutorials!

Great. You solved a fuel tank switch problem for me.
As much as this was a great tutorial that master alarm was so distracting. Almost wanted to click off but I enjoyed the detailed descriptions
With TrackIR, you can pause tracking. I set the pause button to one of my yoke button. Best way to stay steady for a short period of time.

I do not get TBM900 avionic 1 to boot on (just a blank screen). The middle screen boots on fine. Any advice?
