That's awfully low profits for a machine thats been hyped as a top performer. My M20S is pulling $25 a day at 3,450 watts and it only cost me $5,000. Looks like I made out and didn't break the bank doing it. I really don't get your stats. Observations on first month of mining with an ASIC. GPU mining is twice as difficult as ASIC mining. ASIC miners are bulletproof machines. Thermal protection is good and it will protect the machine. I know because it already tripped once. Setup was a piece of cake compared to GPU's. India has plans to eliminate crypto just like China so expect another big drop in Bitcoin then.
UPDATE: Just when you think you're finally moving in the right direction along comes error 2010 and it shuts down. Presently working to find a place to get it fixed.

i heard ASIC miners are prone to burning out after a couple of years. do you know if that is true? also one positive of GPU mining is that you can mine any coin, but with ASIC you are locked in to whatever coin(s) the box was designed to mine. interested in your thoughts

It's safer to build three computers with two 3060ti graphics cards each (about 10k usd +/-). It will bring about half as much, but if everything collapses, then it will be quite easy to sell them. And also they can be safely used for other personal purposes with benefit while they are mining. I did so and did not regret it.

Waste of electricity doing it that way. You're powering 3 mobos, and 3 processors. I have zero issues with my 6 and 8 gpu rugs. If I want to sell the cards off in full builds I'll buy stuff to build pc's down the road, at a cheaper price. Super unnecessary though because cards sell well above msrp. Some might argue its easier to sell the cards off without it being in a build. The only way your theory is logical is if you can't keep more than 2 cards cool but that's not the case.

If you made exactly $32/day, it would take 312 days to break even, not including the MONSTER amount of electricty used. Not even worth it. These miners need to sell for about $1,000-2,000 to make it worth the trouble. The problem is that they are selling for WAY the hell more than they cost to manufacture. The only person making any money on these things is the middle man selling them. If these are made in China, it costs next to nothing to manufacture them. Labor is so unbelievably cheap over there. By the time they hit U.S. soil, somebody is screwing the buyer ROYALLY.

So my math says after electricity, maybe $9 a day where I live (not including ac to cool machine in summer), then as long as machine can operate 100% of time with no downtime not requiring any repair and as long as bitcoin doesn't drop we're looking a close to a two year ROI. As someone in another video I watched stated, 6 months is 4 years in bitcoin land, so nearly 2 actual years is around 15 bitcoin years. Anotherwards, huge variable swings can take place in those timeframes that can greatly effect payback.
Also, I'm not really sure I grasp these machines as to how long a realistic lifespan is as it runs balls to the wall 24/7 365.... I mean if you did hit ROI in two years how much more life is in the machine to turn profit? Another 2 years?

I took a different approach. I worked 2 jobs and I worked weekends from the time I was 18 to to 25 and living at home. I managed to save $700,000 which used to buy 3 homes. I am now 45 years old and the homes are worth 1.2 million each or 3.6 million. I plan to pay them off and live off the rentals which would bring in $90,000 a year after taxes. The crypto millionaires have already been made and right now it is just hype based off of FOMO and dreamers who missed the boat. Seems no one believes in hard work anymore, they want short cuts and get rich quick which is a dead end. GLTA

Can I not just use Alibaba to get one straight from China, so long as I also pay the tariff to customs? After air freight, tariff, and cost, it seems it would be approximately $4,000 vs the prices for the ones that are already stateside.

you did calc wrong. Now do them again without the light cost. Best for Bitcoin mining is clean energy or stolen energy :) but not by paying nuclear energy. A lot of freelance electricians would charge you 300 $ to put you a free light cable and you put there whatever you want...

Has it overheated in your garage at all? I also live in a cold climate and have been considering getting one to run in my shop garage, it’s about 30-40 degrees Fahrenheit on average in there right now if I had to guess. This won’t heat up it up too much in the winter time & shut off? I assume for summer months I’ll have to come up with some sort of ventilation system. Thanks!

If you're going to go through the hassle of getting one of these miners, I'd rather have the Goldshell kd5 and make almost $300 per day with it. I remember seeing these sell for like $14k. This would make more send where you have to suffer for an entire year to see one penny of profit.
