Second!
Ok
❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
Thank you for these great videos! Could you please explain why the largest lunar craters in your linked video are not shown in this one? Cheers!
Yeah, I did notice that, and was going to ask about it. I suppose the Earth shields our side of the Moon from meteorite impacts to some degree?
Kudos for those little maps showing each crater's location. That was a nice touch.
Get away!
Yeah, I can't make up my mind which are scarier, those that narrowly missed the Earth and hit the near side of the Moon or those that were heading for Earth but were stopped by the far side of the Moon.
Let's take a moment to be grateful that Earth has an atmosphere.
Let's also be grateful that the earth has such a massive sized moon, whose gravity attracts many objects coming our way.
Yeah, otherwise we wouldn't be able to breath like on Moon
@@Khaos768earth is more massive than the moon so it would only clear objects orbiting us
Earth's atmosphere cannot protect against meteorites of this size, it only erases their traces.
For now
Never knew how big they are you could fit a whole city in them.
or a whole country!
I love how there were a bunch of really cool, unique, science-y sounding names and then "RUSSELL"
Henry Norris Russell is an astronomer though
"thebit" the bit of what? the bit of the moon that was blown away by a rock? lol
Lmao
waiting for someone with a last name like Bob to have an crater named after them
I am an Apollo nut. But this gives me a greater appreciation for what Borman to Schmitt saw. Thank you Meta
2:40 my heart soared - Fra Mauro (“I can see our landing site”)
I almost finished reading 'A man on the Moon' and I was really happy when I recognized this crater
@@raptorwhite6468 by Andrew Chaikin? Outstanding book
I really like this one, but honestly I like all the videos you’ve made. ❤
ikr?
True. This channel is top. And top music by every movie!!
No way! I didn't realise there was a Moon crater called _Picard_ 😮
Yep, when the name was proposed the (IAU) International Astronomic Union came back with a three word reply: "make it so".
(I wish that was true)
@@ShaneH42 well I'll drink to that! (tea, Earl Grey, of course)
This crater ends here! This big and no larger!
The moon does have some large craters though.
No shit? 🤔
Omg no way 🤯
@@jmag579i see you're British
The moon has craters
I never tip waiters
Come at me haters
Thanks from Germany on behalf of the Stöfler-Clan :D
Thanks!
It's always nice to watch a recently uploaded video from you.
damn...we're very lucky to have the moon
True :)
Great video as always
THAT IS JUST CRAZY 🤯🤯🤯
Wow, if those craters are as shown on Earth, definitely more than 5 people would die
Good video.
La luna se ve extraña para los que vivimos en el hemisferio sur! Excelente video, como siempre!
Exacto.
Won't be surprised if one of those craters got named "Amongus"
😂😂😂😂😂😂 I was looking for this comment
The moon is very SUS
Look at everything she's saved us from.
Just spitballin' here but do any of you think we could build a simple dome or cover over one of these craters to turn it into some sort of pressurized habitat?
Sure! Cement the crater like a swimming pool, create an enormous lake, create a floating city and create the dome with millions of clear blocks (igloo). Domes will be connected via tunnels. Cool question.
Humans are very prone to do crazy crap, so building 1 kilometer dome isnt impossible.
Having a small forest on another planet sounds sweet.
Ofcourse all living and managment buildings will be build separatery, and life-support-recreation dome will be build as its own thing, only connected by some airlocks.
Neat idea... buuut it kinda doesn't address the problem that put the crater there in the first place.
An asteroid strike hitting the moon with enough kinetic energy to displace tens of kilometers of material will go through a manmade dome like a styrofoam cup. You see many large craters that have little crater impacts in them as well, so long lasting bombardment is an issue. You may get away with underground structures if they are deep enough, but it defeats the purpose of building a cool domed-in crater.
Add to that the quakes that even a non-direct hit would cause to established structures. I'm not read-up on the seismic impact of asteroids on low-gravity environments, whether that would be better or worse, but it would be a problem, I imagine.
Ultimately I think our moon is best suited as an early-interception landmark than a possible habitat.
Just waiting on the next oxygen delivery...
@@joshuaboring4770 Very true. There's just not much on the moon to be worth the effort of settling there, let alone putting a whole urban population on a cosmic bullseye, and daring nature to try its luck.
I wonder which is the youngest known larg crater.
You know the craters start getting big (and old) when there's craters inside of them.
Well let me just say, thank you moon for taking so many hits on behalf of team Earth.
Ähmm... the Earth have more Impacts in his Hystory at the Moon, but Weather and Geologie here on Earth have destroy the most Impact- structures... 😉
@@cockpeatdarkhole6909 And without the moon, and Jupiter, there would have been a lot more.
So credit where credit is due.
Such an inane comparison - comparing a world with no atmosphere that prevents zero objects from slamming into its surface to one with an atmosphere that prevents almost all objects from reaching its surface!
But it must have been fun creating the graphics for this post! 😀
The Craters in this size- comparison are Crater from very big impacts (the smallest Craters have the size from the Barringer Crater) 😉
Great video. I really love the music as well. Parts of that song kind of reminded me of the "28 days later" movie soundtrack.
Hope we see the monster size video next.
Nice video! But you forgot Mare Orientale, one of the largest and certainly the most beautiful lunar crater... please include it at the end of your presentation.
Hey MetaBallStudios, according to me you are Spanish, so if you read this, do it, you could make a video comparing sizes of submarines, for example, some of subnautica, like the seamoth, seatruck, or cyclops
Awesome! How about Martian craters or mountains next? :)
That's great 👍👍👍❤
the moon has taken so many hits that the craters have craters within them
Tycho is a lot smaller in diameter than I thought. Still has the most impressive impact rays, though.
What an outstandingly good video. Interesting and marvelously presented
Oh crap, you took out my city with Plinius!
My city is unharmed!
Amogus
Curious note: since Earth is more massive than the Moon, our planet attracts more meteorites than its satellite, but because Earth has tectonic movements, abundant liquid water, thick atmosphere, biodiversity, etc, craters are poorly preserved.
wooo mbs uploaded!!!! great day when you see a new vid
Quality as always!!🇬🇧👍👏
Amazing!
Спасибо! Очень познавательно 👍👍👍
I see this holes with my binocular. Fantastic! MBS is best youtube channel. BEST!❤
It’s a new metaball studios UA-cam video whooooooooooo
now i gotta go watch the impact damage video again LOL
There’s a moon crater over my house. RIP me
Same bro
I noticed the map slightly glitching in different spots of the video.
The music for this video has some sick guitar riffs.
My favorite crater is always Tycho because I love its ejecta pattern ❤
Must have been a straight on impact
Be cool to see this with the size of teh asteroid that created the craters...
Even on the smallest crater in the video, 100 craters are even smaller
(I used Google Translate
Muy interesante como siempre el vídeo 👍👍👍
Porfin un español... XD
@@ELC_873OFICIAL lo mismo digo 🤣🤣
Great idea, superbly executed. Using an actual image of each one… great. (Did not like the music though).
Disclaimer: No Europes were harmed during the making of this video.
Big boom craters👌
nice video
AMAZING!!! 😲
A good idea for a next size video maybe all the characters from lilo and stitch even all of stitch cousins since it be a big video. Just a thought
Excellent music
Tycho crater is one of the brightest on the moon, figured it was larger than 85 meters.
And Europe became a Swiss cheese.
Another very cool video!
Make the size comparison remake of monsters 😊
Now do Martian craters compared on Earth.
Nice
It feels weird to have some craters in the water.
I am surprised they didn't name the craters in side the craters
They did
From earth we don't have the real notion how huge they are.
The best. And doesn’t matter how many people look at this one. As long as you inform one person that knowledge is forever
Next up: Martian craters and volcanos? 😏
Can you please do horror movie characters next?
Oh holy moon look like the shield natural! 👀 Good twin sister Earth and Moon.
Moon, thank you for your service
Cool
Did you aim your first missile at Horsell Common like H G Wells' martians?
Running on the planets
Cool comparison idea! :)
Bro literally made craters on earth
Yesssss, you wiped out Swale!!😂
“Thebit” 01:24 has just ruined my biking fun road up the A32 north out of Fareham.
I reckon I’d have pulled a massive Evel Knievel jump off the southern rim just about where Droxford is……
This goes to show how big the moon really is.
Damn, when they said Europe had a problem with unwanted aliens before, I never took that literally.
There have got to be photos and large craters on the back side of the moon too
Thank god my flat in south London hasn’t become a crater
I don't want to imagine the energy released by the impact of Hertzsprung...
Basically the moon gets smacked around a lot.
Wow amazing🤩 ... greetings🙌🏻🙌🏻
Mati que te haces el gringo si hablas español
Cool, but u should have done the comparison on the moon
Engagement for the engagement god!
Wow
Clavius is best. Love the inner craters :)

New title: What the UK, France and Parts of Europe Will Look Like After an Asteroid Shower.
Makes you wonder how many craters are under the ocean
No UA-camr that has over a million subscribers has ever replied to me (except for ASMRGLOW)
Do you make all your music yourself?
they are one of the scariest things ...
Wow I knew the moon has been hammered by asteroids, but well over a million? That I did not know.
Curious if we know about the time each one was created
We probably have a surprisingly good idea. You probably figured that the heavily eroded, almost un-noticeable craters are the older ones.
Create a nuclear Bomb explosion in a city comparison please
For all you Brits out there, I wonder how many Clangers would fit into these craters? 😆
I like how all the crater names just sound like an average SMITE player username.😂
