Carlsen showing why he's the GOAT! The precision and strategy were off the charts. Can't wait to see what he does next! Keep sharing amazing chess contents! I love your videos! 🖤
Of course you're not. They hadn't yet introduced the internet in 1942. But glad to hear you're on the right path buddy. I believe in you taking the third step as well!
I'm surprised by the tale of the tape and the misplay count at the end. There are four significant evaluation drops for white but only one classified as a mistake. I know it's all heuristics and doesn't matter in the end, but it feels incongruous. Nevertheless, great game with a great lesson to take away. Thanks, Jerry.
I have no mastery in endgame. So I’ve learnt to rely on basic strategies that are recommended just as much if not more in the opening. What I saw here, on that critical…Pf6 or Pf5 move was Dubov blundering the strategy of not letting your pawns get too far away from your king. Thanks Jerry.
When I listen to your explanation about the difference between f5 and f6 it makes so much sense and it seems very logical, to the point that I think I should easily be able to use this logic in my own games (I am rated around 1850), since it is basically just visualizing what happens when the rooks are gone, and then it is quite easy to see that the structure for black is unhealthy. But then again, Dubov is screwing this up, and I am absolutely sure he can visualise this position with the rooks off in no time, way faster than I can. So why did he blunder? Time pressure? Just an oversight? Would be curious to know.
It’s amazing that even top grandmasters mess up rook and pawn endgames. Lesson : learn all one can about rook and pawn endgames and you’ll net many points!
Jerry hope you review more of Magnus’ endgames. He figured out quite young that GMs endgames were riddled with errors & he could safely net points there. So how & where his opponents blew it would be very interesting and educational. Your channel is the best! Dubov’s error in this game f5 instead of f6 should be in an endgame manual or course and your analysis explains exactly why. Don’t know what percentage of games Magnus wins in the endgame but seems quite high. Cheers!
by principle we always want to produce passed pawns (as well as them being outside as an extra benefit), which you can only do in 1 move by capturing the a-pawn (you can calculate and confirm this, white uses the threats of pushing the a-pawn to tie black down, while if you capture the c-pawn you need extra time to take the a-pawn and that is what makes the difference)
Always love seeing you review magnus games
👍 Thanks!
endings are very difficult. And Magnus shines at endings.
Mozart
A bit of that tism'boy!
Of all the chess instruction youtubers I've seen, you're the best. Thanks for all your hard work.

Very instructive endgame. Thank you, Jerry, for your comment!

More good Magnus coverage. Any hope of some more live titled arena commentaries? Those are my favorite.
That was really useful stuff Jerry. Thank you sir.
And thank you for watching Capa. 😎
Srsly? THE Capablanca is watching your videos AND is learning from them? How cool is that - for a dead guy!
@ I am not really Capablanca Jim but I am like him. He was known to be lazy, vain, and invincible. I have so far managed the first two.

I don't understand why he capture the A pawn at 12:12 instead of the C pawn... and then the A or E pawn.
I assume its because of e4+ and then ra6 resulting in white not having a passed pawn
@@radekz0l But then the king can pick up the E pawn next.

TKO = technical knockout! haha I see what you did there
