    I’d love to learn to draw a flower to use as a focal point for my cards as you have done here. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Beautiful card, Kim! It was very interesting to listen to you. I also started with paper crafts and cards. I´m so new, still, to mixed media, that I´ve just been all over the place, lol. Last year changed everything, because the illness spread to both of my hands. This year I want to find a way to create with my disabilities, so that it´s "good enough" and doesn´t give me more pain. My word for the year is balance. Tfs, Fia xx

      Oh I think you definitely need to be all over the place when you start something new! Got to try it all to know what you will like don't you?! I really hope you find that way to create with no pain this year Fia, and that you get the balance that you need!

    I would love to work on doodling faces (and getting proportions more correct) on top of loose watercolour-ey backgrounds. Sort of a floaty dreamy style and colour palette. Another wish is to be able to embrace getting messy more. I admire people who paint with their fingers and be ok/not freak out over it! I also want to draw animals especially woodland creatures and birds. I really like your idea of creating a series of work and I look forward to seeing what comes out of your paintbrushes pens and hands 😊🎨

      Oh flowers are so useful aren't they?! Funnily enough I am just planning a floral month for June on my Patreon page. I've been taking lots and lots of flower photos and I love turning them into drawings and mixed media projects so I thought it might be time for a flower frenzy over there! 🌼🌺🌸

    I'm a mixed media, abstract artist. I've been making what I call a tribe of various humanoid type characters in my work and now this year (2019) I want to start world building for them in various pieces. So abstract trees, flower, buildings, etc...

    Thanks for sharing, Kim. I'd like to actually MAKE some art, so far I seem to be stuck on watching - a fear of failure I think. I've always been interested in doodles, but am never happy when I try some. I'll go check out your Inktober videos because I like the sound of a daily play.

    • @KimDellow
      @KimDellow  5 років тому

      Keeping a daily doodle and sketching habit works really well at getting you through the fear! Remember you don't have to show it to anyone and don't be over critical of your own work 💚

    Love this piece, especially the flower.
    I'm just having fun trying lots of different mediums, and trying different things, so I could be making a card using stamping and die cutting, or painting and collaging an ATC, or working in one of my art journals with stencils and texture paste. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. I used to use acrylics many years ago, but just used them as they came, so it was a revelation to me when I picked them up again, to learn other ways. I'd never considered adding water to them, to use like watercolours or making sprays, for example! Haha! And I stopped using my fingers to add paint when I was a child, but it's one of my favourite things now, hence my UA-cam name!
    But the important thing is I'm having fun, it's all a great big adventure. I feel sad for those people, like a friend of mine, who are too scared to start, in case it goes "wrong". I've tried to explain to her that it's only paint and paper and can be thrown away if she doesn't like it, or painted over, but she's frozen by fear. It's so sad that she's missing out on so much, because she's afraid of something that doesn't matter.

    • @KimDellow
      @KimDellow  5 років тому +1

      Oh that is a shame isn't it? I have heard similar stories and it makes me sad too, you can but hope that they work their way through. We are so good at putting up barriers to stop ourselves doing things aren't we?! Oh there are just so many glorious art things too do 😍 I am really glad you are enjoying them and having fun exploring and of course getting Covered in Paint! Perfect!

    This is such a beautiful piece of work Kim! I notice your paints by your side...What is that that you use as a palette? How do you then store that paint when you have finished working? Thank you for the amazing work you share with us, it is so inspirational. 😊🌻🧡

    • @KimDellow
      @KimDellow  5 років тому

      hiya Clari, so I quite often use a piece of plastic as my palette, I had a couple of left over tabs from a box organiser and I just adopted them as my palette. I don't tend to leave any paint over when I am working with acrylic paint, I will use up the leftovers on another project or in my junk journal. I do have a stays-wet palette, but I only use that for pieces that might take several days. But not for small pieces or art journal pages that I finish in a session.

    I would like to practice adding layers. I watch your videos and I would stop at layer C, but you go on to add D, E, F, G . . . And sometimes it goes through a stage where I don't like it, but you just add more and that fixes it without looking like you did to much.

    • @KimDellow
      @KimDellow  5 років тому

      Oh love it Sheryl! I know this well and what you are going through is totally part of the process. So what you actually need to work on is pushing through the 'not quite there but don't know what to do next' and the 'eek! it's ugly' stages and to do that try to practice letting go and not getting emotionally attached to a piece too early on. Well, at least that works for me, there might be other things you can try too! Good luck!
