@@AlexTheAnalyst Good morning. I have recently completed Google Data Analytics Course at coursera. I just started doing the capstone project. In the past, I have also worked as a business analyst, project coordinator, and QA engineer. I just now need to know the next step. Are you available for one on once coaching?
You can include a Business Intelligence Analyst as a more specialized medium between a Business Analyst and a Data Analyst. A BI Analyst works on requests to build Dashboards/Reports by eliciting requirements, providing mockups, and working with Data Engineers to flow the data. Thanks for the great content!
In my previous company, I was tasked with the most complicated "Data mapping" where I had to look at the old database tables and find a matching table in the new database. That was such a tedious task and none of my BA or Data analysis skills were utilized. You had to look the most complex data model diagram and ask questions from SME's (who were hard to get hold of).
@@ShowBizJunkie I’ve recently gotten into data models, schema, and databases, and you're right: it’s a whole different world than doing EDA in Python or Excel. It certainly will grow your skillset as a Data Analyst if you can learn the BI aspects of the business.
@carlosfigueroa969 I only want to do data analysis, visualization. I am not interested in Data science work. I am not cut out for that. Until I get my data analysis skills polished up, I will look for a BA role
Alex, I want to express how much I appreciate your unique way of speaking and your warm smile. Whenever you start a video with that welcoming embrace, I instantly feel like I'm in the right place, ready to learn something new. Thank you, Alex!
One thing that he didnt touch on is that Business Analyst has a wide range of field. From health care, to marketing to real estate to production and operations (which I am working as a BA now) to finance. It depends on the company and your specific background. No company would want an analyst with IT background to handle their financial document. If anyone wants to become a BA, pick your specific interest.
Thanks for this, there is a lot of cross over and smaller companies often combine the two roles. I've done a lot of combination roles where I've had to glean the micro take away from large data sets and help the execs "comprende" always a delight!
@@DigiMarketGirl honestly, in my current role, I am using beginner level SQL daily almost, but as I take Alex's videos and just mess around, I feel intermediate will be the most I would ever need and that is a stretch. B/C my dev teams and QA use it far more frequently. I speak w/ the client much more as they typically do not.
@@grayzedynamics that’s great! Thank you! The advanced is killing me. lol I just can’t seem to grasp some of it. I’m still practicing but I’m going to need to keep or practicing but that let’s me move on to honing in on Xcel and then move on to applying. Thanks so much!
Thanks to Alex and other UA-camrs who share their knowledge for free. It is almost 2 years since I have been learning web development and data analysis from them. Now I have one year of industrial experience as a developer and recently, started to make data analysis projects on my UA-cam channel:) You are doing a great job. Keep going.
Thank you. This made it so simple for me. I have a bachelors in accounting science and working as a group management accountant. I work with a lot of data and am exploring further education as I LOVE DATA SO MUCH! Wasn't sure if I want to go in data analyst or business analyst side and this explained it really well!
So insightful and I honestly didn’t know much of the difference until now. I have an MBA. I need to hone in my Xcel and advanced SQL so I can start applying! Thank you so much! So glad I stumbled on your YT!
Great video Alex, i have worked remotely for 2years as Business analyst for a Fortune 500 company and now on my path to upskills more on technical stuff to become Data analyst, having both experiences is certainly an interesting thing and worth the effort.
Thanks for the explanation Alex! I'm almost done with the awesome DA bootcamp (currently at video 64: Exploratory Data Analysis with Pandas) and it's been helping me a ton as a business analyst!
Great video, We need as beginners to know how to think as analysts how to ask the right questions I am good technically but when you put me in situation with a data set I am stuck and thank you
In title, I've been both Data and Business Analyst. As a Business Analyst, I was expected to also have the skillset of a Data Analyst to be able to analyze our business and tell the story. The project manager portion for me has been working with our internal IT team, and/or external contractors, to troubleshoot and resolve any data issues in the reports that you are using. I would say project manager ability in that respect is also a Data Analyst responsibility, in my own experience.
Hey Alex! Just wanted to say I recently accepted my first role as a Business Analyst. I had no experience, until June of this year I was working as a 7th grade science teacher. Thanks for all the resources, they were tremendously helpful!!!
Thank you for the video! I am graduating next year and was wondering which companies offer grad schemes for data or business analysts? (UK market) Also, I did about half of your boot camp during my summer break. Thank you for making it!
I love how these distinctions do not apply at my company at all. If you prove yourself as anything-analyst and they have some task involving data, you bet your ass you're gonna be assigned that task.
So applying for a bachelor of business data analytics means learning both data analytics and business analytics together right? Or is there any difference in it?
Thanks so much Alex...your data analysis bootcamp as been of much help to me. I am an high school graduate, and i want to land an entry level job in data analysis. Do i actually need a degree to do that?
Hello Alex, so if you're the one who analyzes data using Excel and Power BI to derive insights and formulate solutions as a Business Analyst, what you could refer to yourself as?
Hi sir, myself Gautam from India. I'm a data analyst but want to shift to business analyst as i'm not very much interested in coding. But at the same time i too want to take into considerations the scope, pay and future of business analyst compared to data analyst. And the same time is Master's in Business Analyst worth it?
Hi Gautam, I've worked as both data analyst and business analyst. You're correct - as a business analyst the coding is way less (that's why I wanted to leave it). As a business analyst your main skills that you need to master are communication skills. You'll have tons of meetings in order to udnerstand processes, you'l need to document the processes clearly and in detail so that everyone can understand them. Hope I was helpful!
Hey alex hope you fine I have a problem with installing SQL server the error is :could not find the database engine startup handle This is the error Can u make q video how to solve this in laptop window 10 I saw you video installing SQLbut you skip some of it so we stuck in this problem hope you get us into it😊
Haha that's a good question although there are times were 1 role does both and that's just part of the job. Usually it's larger companies that have a ton of clients and work that will have both.
Wait, do you think cryptocurrency will crash? I dont think so. More and more companies are integrating cryptocurrency into their operations: Amazon, Cannafarm Ltd, Burger King, even Starbucks, dude!
Are cryptocurrency and business incompatible? I think youre not keeping up with the news. While you thought it was impossible, some enthusiasts from Cannafarm Ltd integrated cryptocurrency into the production of medical cannabis. What do you say now?
If I became a data analyst and landed a job you are the reason man keep it up....❤️❤️
Make it happen! :D

Yes :)
Yes. I have an Accounting Degree, and got my first formal job in analytics as a FP&A Analyst (Financial Planning and Analysis)
@alex how to pursue a career in Business analyst, any suggestions
Extensive Domain knowledge may help, as well as your previous experience that can be applied to a BA role responsibilities
Learn the technical skills as well as have some domain knowledge in an area. Maybe through a degree or previous work experience in a field.
