What fun! This is the one that went viral among dancers in the Shorts, so most people have heard at least clips from this lockdown version, even if they don't know it's Home Free. Now you really must watch the live version they dropped recently. The energy of the huge audience makes it that much exciting! My favorite a cappella band never lets me down! If you haven't done so already, go find Chance's original "Skull and Bones!"
This is so much fun. The live one is great. Gives you a good flavor of what their concerts are like.
I think Nathan Evans kicked off the trend with his cover of “Wellerman” in late 2020.
This medley was from March 2021. Easy to forget it’s a cappella.
Thanks for your reaction! How good are these guys? The fun & energy in this is infectious. This was done during quarantine so none of the guys were even together. The editing of this was great & was done in the Tik Tok style. Love all the guys parts, with Tim's rumbling bass underlying it all. And Adam's beatboxing is phenomenal as always including sea swells & castanets. Amazing how he increased the tempo from one song to another. They do this medley of songs in their live concerts.

Since you like this you might like this After this hearing people at Ubisoft approached them with a great opportunity to write a shanty for Skull And Bones a video game they are releasing soon.Which Chance ( first singer)did write its a Lyric video called Skull And Bones.Chance has a love for sea shanties and anything to do with the sea also gaming so it was perfect for him.They also sang a shorter version at Ubisoft Live Premiere.It’s beyond epic. A lot of reactors do both the lyric and live in the same reaction because the live is much shorter and you get to see who is doing what.
This is just fun, they did it as part of the encore when I saw them in London. It was their lockdown release that really blew up - for a bit of lockdown "nostalgia", give _Quarantine_ a listen (lyrics by Tim, you'll probably recognise the tune)!

YES! It's actually BETTER than this. That shows what an awesomely talented group they are.
yesm this was recorded during the end of the pandemic quarentine - they started making videos together again just a couple of months later. Thee live version is GREAT and at one of their concerts in front of thousands.....you'll get to see just how good they are live....I've seen them 3 times, the last time was just this past April in Ft Myers, FL where they filmed another one of their videos, the 3rd part of the Stargazer Lillies trilogy and the song is MR the Trilogy is a must see.

They did this during Covid and it went viral. So what’s neat is that Ubisoft the game maker heard this and approached Chance (first singer, red hat) and asked him to write a shanty for their new pirate game Skull and Bones so he did and it’s in the game. Try Skull and Bones. They have a lyric video of it and a short live version for the Ubisoft crowd. They will make a video of it soon I hear. Also they have a live version of this shanty in Minnesota that’s great! Enjoyed your reaction!😄😍

What really impresses me is that they sound just like this when they're performing it live in concert.
Home free was not the first to do this medly, but it was brought to prominence by their version being used in so many tiktok shorts where people were dancing to the tune.
The Wellerman, the shanty they started with, became popular on Tic tok performed by Nathan Evans. Chance loves Sea Shanties and talked the guys into doing this medley of shanties. Ubisoft saw this and were so impressed with Home Free they contacted them and asked them to do an original song for their Pirate game "Skull & Bones" Chance wrote it and they performed it at the Summer Game Fest. There are two versions of this on UA-cam, A lyric video and the live performance. You should check those out as well as the official video of Home Free doing this Sea Shanty Medley Live performance.
Subbing for more Home Free. If it wasn't for covid lockdown, Home Free may have never recorded this Medley. Covid Lockdown was a very prolific and creative time for Home Free.

While there may have been a recent TIk Tok vogue for them, sea shanties are shipboard work songs from the age of sale. So there's no telling where you may have heard them. I can remember hearing "Drinken Sailor" on the old black and white Sherlock Holmes TV show in the 50's.

This was one of the first videos made during lock down from a suggestion by Chance and has been responsible for a lot of Home Free's success.
I mean...they aren't kid's songs. They are sea shanties. This is a medley of sea shanties. You may well have learned some sea shanties as a kid though. Looking back on it and really thinking about what the true meaning of most of the songs were when written, that is kind of weird though, isn't it? 😂👍
