Such a powerful module! I don’t think you’ll regret it! All the granular, tape, looping, etc. style modules like this are pretty unique and fun to have

Nice vibes! I'm struggling a bit finding a new style with my modular gear, and this was very inspirational. subbed!

Aaron Brown Modules like the Morphagene, Nebulae, and Arbhar can be really inspirational! Taking a variety of sounds and running them through those to see what you come up with can really steer things in a new direction 👌🏼 Thank you for the support! :D

This sounds fairly high fidelity to me. Is it supposed to be like Sebadoh lo-fi, or is there now a sub-genre of electronic music called "lo-fi"?
In what sense is the fidelity low? I often record with dictaphones and then fly that onto a cassette 4-track, then layer and bounce a lot, until things get distorted and mashed up and warbly and then I fly it into my DAW. But that's the sound I'm going for. It is very true to the sound I'm going for so... it's high fidelity. I mean the music sounds good and all, but I don't see the low fidelity aspect.

All good points! The “Lo-Fi” aspect of the song is more in the manipulation of the drum samples and “feel” of the song than the melodies created with this skiff. There is a genre of lofi hip hop beats that this reminded me of, and techniques like you mentioned or even adding some “tape hiss” would probably get it there better. Thanks!

@@Nematomusic Thanks for clarifying. I think I'm just getting old. Ha. My wife and I were both in the music industry and I saw the replacement cycles. From vinyl to cassette and CD, then to mp3 etc. and back to vinyl. There also seem to be replacement cycles in what music is called. Genres transform and shift over the years. My wife worked with bands that were described as "metal", but if you listen to it today, it sounds like polished pop music. The one band she worked with that seems to defy genres is Tool. Not my thing, but undeniably adding their own artistic flair to whatever it is they are doing. I need to explore this Lo-fi hip-hop. I enjoy some of the more out/experimental hip-hop like Dalek and Death Grips. I grew up on a wide variety of hip hop, from Public Enemy to De La Soul. I'm sure I'll find stuff I like in the sub-genre. From the little I've heard, it seems to borrow just as much from electronica as hip-hop. Thanks again man. Good stuff.

I’ve never been a big fan of the genre game! Any time someone asks me “What style of music do you make?” ...electronic? That encompasses just about everything these days.
Nothing wrong with variety! Thanks for checking out the song! 😎👍🏼

@@Nematomusic One more thing and I'll stop bugging you. It's funny. I'm currently involved in a project with another guy and we have no idea what genre our music is. I play solo acoustic guitar that is similar to John Fahey which is like psychedelic country finger style folk and, Micheal Hedges who is described as a new age artist. I do Fripp/Eno style looping with the guitar and modular stuff (big Make Noise fan. Just filled row 3 of 104hp) my partner in the band plays kind of new age piano with 70s r&b influence and we are both huge fans of bands like Talk Talk and Japan (David Sylvian) Sakamoto, and modern classical, especially minimalism. Nobody knows how to classify us and it's entertaining to observe :)

MisterNiles Not at all, I appreciate the discussion!
In my mind, if it’s hard to put a simple label on your music, you’re doing something right! Where can I find this music?

Thanks! Found these on Adafruit for a reasonable price, but they’re currently out of stock. www.adafruit.com/product/2057 I was trying to replicate the Noise Engineering knobs which I couldn’t find until recently thanks to a friend! www.electro-smith.com/parts/noise-engineering-knob
