Can someone get Mike an award for the best motorcycle mechanic on UA-cam already! Mike I appreciate your humbleness, I’ve been watching for years and working on my own bike ever since! Thanks for sharing!
The reason for not using a power tool is you have greater control of the torque and less chance of damage to the fasteners......I do the same on door and cabinet hardware when I install ( old carpenter,I am)....nice job,Mike.....feel better soon
Hopefully you and your camera man will have a healthy and prosperous year Looking forward to another year of videos Love your channel Thanks for all you share
Greetings from So Oregon brothers nothing like MIKE in the morning with my potatoes and eggs! And coffee! Dog and i are sitting here enjoying your calm easy going vid Mike, love it! Thanks one day ill make it to So Cal and meet and hang with you two. Take it easy with that cold brother GOD BLESS
Mike that cold seems like it’s got ahold of you pretty good you’re weezing terrible trying to breathe. Take care of yourself my friend we’re not as young as we once were. You take care and ride safe.
Nice trick taking the axle out before taking the calipers off the forks. Seems like having the wheel cocked a little will keep the calipers from immediately swinging into the fender paint.
Hello from Sweden 👋. Here we got 2-3 inches of snow and there is more on the way ❄️❄️❄️. So it feels good to hear that you got nice weather. My best to you on this New Year 2025. Take care and get well. 👍👍👍. Kjell Blomstrand 🇸🇪Sweden.
I really like that jack with the socket drive welded on. Speed handles, ratchets, pull handles, or air or electric impact friendly! Sure beats the factory style handle on them little jacks! Put you a wobble-joint on a 4 foot extension and jack up anything from a Lazyboy recliner! Bonus feature... Put two wobble joints and some extra extensions and you can make a Double Dutch steel jump rope for Cameraman Mike! He's gonna bang his shins anyway, so why not make a sport out of it! Prayers for your cold. It stinks to have a hard time breathing!
Here's praying for you to have a very blessed & prosperous New Year, Mike, crew & family. Oh, tell the people wondering why you don't use power tools, to look at the condition of your fasteners. It should be obvious.
I have been dealing with the same issues this winter, wheezing, always trying to clear my throat. Sputum that just wont drain. I just take some sinus medication and it clears everything right up. Good luck to you.
I ran a 19" Invader on my Shovel for a year or so. At the time, I really didn't notice a difference until I put the 21" spoked wheel back on. Not a night and day difference but enough that I could tell the 21" seemed to handle MUCH better. Both my Shovels run wideglide front ends and both run 21" wheels now. BIG difference from the 16" fat tire and wheel they came stock with. Great video as usual, Mike. You and Cameraman Mike stay warm, y'hear?
Hi Mike and cameraman Mike Happy New Year guys Happy holidays Mike I hope you feel better buddy 🙏🙏 praying for you my friend Miss you Mike Happy to see you doing good we all love you
Gonna have to try that trick with the calipers. Had to disconnect mine when I put a new tire on this summer. Was putting new pads in anyway so I didn't give it much thought. Will definitely have to remember that. And about using power tools, I saw someone using a cordless ratchet to remove the screws from headlight trim. It's getting ridiculous these days.
I did show how to tighten it in the video. If the axle slid out of it, it wsn't tightened properly. Make sure it is tightened (torqued properly) after torquing the nut on the end of the axle. Make sure there is space between the axle cap and the fork leg. If necessary, grind the mating surface of the cap.
Just went to a 21” wheel myself the only thing is having trouble finding out if there is a speedometer drive gear to fit right side 84 to 99 wide glide if there is you would be the guy who knows thanks again for the videos and hope your feeling well soon and happy new year
My 97 Bad Boy springer came with floating rotors, (F & R) Those Russel rotors are exactly like the OEM's I know you are going to enjoy them. And having two on the front is going to be awesome..! Mike, Next time can you tell us the part numbers you are using? Happy New Year!
Your bike looks like it sets pretty level. Didn't putting the 21 inch wheel on it raise the front end from what is was when you had the stock 16 inch rim on it
Hey Mike, been out of the loop for awhile, life happens, right? Hope all is well on your end. Not sure how close or far away from the fires you are, but i hope you're safe. Any updates on the project flat head bike?
The floating discs give enough to "self center." More even and better contanct with the pads. Doing little stuff to Fred's Pan. It keeps getting interupted. Maybe get to fire it up today. But it is Sunday. So far, haven't made it to the garage.
i wish i lived around there. id give a good sum of money for ypu to go over my roadking. i put tons of money and it is the most depressing unreliable bike ive ever owned. and im certain with your talet it would be a dream , live your content
Hey Mike how are you doing 😊 Nice rotors replacement, anyhow are you going to finish up your old flathead this year ??? Just wondering..i understand life gets in the way like you said before ...I do have 1966 Pan/Shovel been sitting waiting for me to mock it up but had it for 3 years now sitting waiting for me to get bike done ..hopefully later this year ... 😊 that's life LOL 😆
Looks like a Metzeler tire? I just bought a set of Metzeler cruistecs for my ‘95 dyna glide. I’m curious if there’ll be a difference from Dunlop 401’s. How do you like yours, Mike?
I'm hoping you have weathered the ongoing disaster reasonably well, but I know you've been affected. I don't think you can live there without having people who are hurting. I hope you make it through okay.
We are a long way from those fires. But, you're right. It was a beautiful place. And it's gone. I used to spend a lot of time there. My heart goes out to the people who've lost so much.
21's rule. been running one on my pan for over 45 years, even put one on my 99 fatboy. now i need to pick your brain. have a 76 flh stock. rebuilt rear caliper, new master cylinder (rear) and a new rear brake line. bleed it in the shop, pedal is good, take it out for a ride and after a couple of stops, have to pump the pedal. back in shop, rebleed, no bubbles, another ride, same outcome. no visible leaks anywhere, no bubbles......thoughts ??? anyone else encounter this ?? solution ?? thanks for your time, and get to feeling better.
If you wish to tighten your undies, try braking into thong, if you're stuck with the bolts in your old disc, you put them in there wrong. The quandary is with threadlock, where should it be for 'best hold', up near the top with the hot bits, or way down deep in the cold? Cool holes are better for grippage, but a pain in the bum to remove, no torch room to help make it soften, so it's frigid & stuck in the groove. Up top it must take on the heat cycles, & learn to chill in the cruise, yet, if it does turn nasty & jam up, it's only the top threads you lose. So taketh great care with thy potions, 'too strong in wrong place' can be dire, but for me? - I just drill tiny holes in little things, then fill 'em, with twisted wire! (Sherwood today - Heavily leaden sky over patchy wet snow, absolute mud bath - a 'staying in' type day. Hope your colds go soon - try lots of orange juice! (No idea where you'll find it out there though. Y'all : )
I do jest, 'tis but a whimsy, true wisdom doth lie in thy hand. For I am but old & decrepit, a relic in post-la-la land. Happy New Year everyone, live long & fester : )

Glad y’all are safe from the wildfires going on 🙌🏻
Thank You. They are quite a ways off.
Speedy recovery Mike! As always, great information. Rotors look real cool.

My knees hurt watching you kneel on the shop floor. Getting back up is no picnic either. I always enjoy your videos.
Thanks. I'm not getting any younger, but I enjoy the work.
building a porch at home. I think I was faster getting up 40 yrs ago. 😖
Nice trick taking the axle out before taking the calipers off the forks. Seems like having the wheel cocked a little will keep the calipers from immediately swinging into the fender paint.
Just "little be careful" things.

Thanks for the jack tip, I'm gonna try that!
I remember working on some older shovels and had a time with some of the fasteners. I understood the comment about coming out easier .
Yes, that's why I like to "feel" this stuff.
Good video Mike , Happy New Year to both of you

Happy New Year Mike and camera man Mike. Good video on ch/out brake rotors. Ride safe my friends 👍
Thank you. And, Happy New Year.
Amazing how u can balance that bike on jack. I'm always scared jacking my bike up.
It is jacked against it's kickstand. There are other ways. I've been lifting the front of this bike like this for over forty years.
@pacificmike9501 oh got you I was like dang. Now I get it!

Nice rotors!! And I like those saddlebags to! 😎👍
Thank you. Those saddlebags are made by The "Leatherworks" in Stockton Ca.
@@pacificmike9501I also have products from Leatherworks, they have stood up for years and still look and function as new.
Hope you and camera man Mike are okay as well all those out there in Cali right now with those fires. Another great video from you guys.

Szeretem a videóidat Mike! Néha csináljatok olyan videót is ahol motoroztok.

Just a matter of the right gear ratio. Try Drag Specialties.

It's pretty much level. Early swingarm, late shocks, Racetech innards in the forks and so on. My creation. Sits very low.
And hope you have a strong kick stand I hade a stand brake just kick-starting my 62 pan
Did you have a genuine HD stand?
🤙

What do you use to re-glue sidecover moulding? I have a 1990 FLHTCU and the moulding on my center console and sidecovers is all falling off.
Any good contact cement. Try your local auto parts store.
No loc-tite on the rotor bolts ?
Yes, I did. Just a little.
I guess I didn't notice .

Because they’re “CooL” 👍🏻😂👍🏻😂👍🏻
Yay!
put a 2x4 under the stand first. gets way higher without leaning too far
Depends on how much angle you're starting with. But good point.

If there are no leaks, go back and read what the supplier says about the master cylinder. Some are intende for 58-72, and some are 73 and later.

If you whip steel bolts out of aluminum using a air impact there will be much sadness in your life
Well said.
