It's called working on a bike when you don't have a lift. Even simpler is to pull the bike over and put a block of wood under the right side of the bike.
Very cool video Mike. I’ve done brake rotors before. I still learned. The front 21 inch wheel you put together. Is just genius. To know what you need. With the best parts. To make it what you want. 😊
Thanks again for a another great video Mike&Mike. Love your simple, practical solutions to mundane problems, like jacking the front of the bike up using the kickstand as balance... call me dim, but to me that shows the cool of a lifetime of experience. As always, thanks guys, and I'll hang out for the next instalment. Peace, and cheers from Oz. 👍🇦🇺
Mike didnt like ONE more roadtrip 😂😂 he was like umm excuse me sir I'll be having TONS of roadtrips. Never say one in my shop about trips 😂 that wheel looks sweet with those double drilled out rotors I like how chill patient and polite Mike is. He says he sometimes isnt patient but ya wouldnt know it. Respectful to his buddy too cause if youve ever worked with friends on a project and someone says," want me to hold it?" And sometimes the other person wont even say anything. He immediately acknowledged and said no thank you even while he was doin somethin. Yall are great like the Bob Ross's of motorcycles & by that I mean no disrespect. Thanks for the channel
I didn't redo the front end on this bike when I put the new rotors on. The fork seal job was on Camera Man's Dyna. Go to pacific mike on youtube and bring up our homepage. Then, click on videos. There are about 360 video with pictures. It's in there and easy to fine.
A tip from me, 😀 for compressing those pucks , I use a cedar shake that I split or rip down the middle and tap that in between the pads and rotor one from end ant the other from the opposite end of the caliper. There are in a wedge shape and it’s wood so, soft. Works like a charm Thanks for the video. Love those rotors! 😉👍
Mike; good video!! yes if my tires come off my ride, they get balance and I have been surprised, the number of times that have been out of balance. God Bless safe ridin rubber down
That is a good practice to check your wheel balance whenever you remove a wheel assembly for whatever reason. When you do a wheel balance it is only setting the balance for that point in time of the wheel condition. As you ride the bike and encounter quick stops or if you are power shifting you are creating an uneven tire wear and your previous balance has shifted, due to the use of in place weights they do not shift the balance point you previously set it to. So you should always check your wheel balance whenever you have the wheel assembly off bike this way your balance is set to current tire wear pattern. Another item of equal importance is to have your tire pressure correct as that will increase your tires mileage. If you ride bike with a lower than required tire pressure you develop tire tread cupping and you can not undo that once it happens. The simple preventative wheel and tire checks will increase your tire life span, and we all know that motorcycle tires are not cheap.
When you have a Plethora of Mikes, then it's always safe to say that "Mike Did It!" when something untoward happens :) That was the World's Quickest Wheel Balancing Job! Must be one o them fancy WiFi Bluetooth balancers they just came out with. Hands Free Balancing!
Thanks Mikes. I really enjoyed the video. I think I'll go for a ride tomorrow. Be in the low forties bout noon here in S.C. My daughter got me the knucklehead Tee for Xmas. Be wearing it to bike nights when they start up again.
Glad I saw this one. I have 3 or 4 of those old jack laying around and now I know what to use it for. By the way how are you fairing with the fires and all. We praying for you and all the other people in So. California.
Right on, Mike a quick question are those 11.5 rotors and if they are where can I find them and do you know if they will work on a H-D FXR Super Glide dual brake setup? Thanks for your time 👍
I don't know what years you have, I have late model fork legs and calipers. This all matches up. The late models use a rotor with a large center hole. All this stuff has to match up years wise. You need to figure it out in the catalogs unless you have a someone knowledgable in a shop.
Hi Guys, Happy new year from one of your European fans. Are you far enough away from the horrific pictures of the fires in LA we are seeing in our TV over here? Keep well keep safe and let’s enjoy the road during 2025. Best Wishe
'After a couple of ice cold smoothies, Mike'll ride out with some groovies, and show 'em just how well it can be done. All THEIR bikes will have the floppies, 'cos their bushes have the sloppies, so, . . they'll watch a Shovel pulling stoppies, in the sun.' (Would you believe it's raining here, just for a change. England is most corrosive, unless you're a fun-gi : )
Hi Mike, my name is Giuliano, and I'm from São Paulo, Brazil. I'm having a problem with the crankshaft counter balance gear on my 2008 Softail Heritage, and I wanted to ask for your help, if possible
My Shovelhead is not for sale. And, it has always stopped well. It came with disc brakes when I bought it new, 46 years ago. I learned how to make those early calipers work well. Then, I updated the rear caliper. Then a few years ago, I updated the braking system again. Lots of super stuff on this bike. Not for sale.
***OFF TOPIC*** Mike, are you safe, with all these fires going on?! Your website has been down, so I couldn't send you an email/private message! Not sure where you're located around L.A. I'm just concerned! Let us all know. In my prayers....🙏🙏🙏
This may be counterintuitive to most but to go fast you need to be able to stop efficiently. Not a true believer in your front tire stopping patch. Just sayin'. Later my friend.
I've never seen a bike jacked up leaning on the kick stand to do the front tire, too cool, have a blessed week my friends

Used to do that with my Honda 750 in the 70s
This's a trick from the 60's kid
Thank You and the same for you and yours.
Okay.
I’m always excited when I see another new video drop. I know I’m going to learn something useful. I greatly appreciate the information.
Thanks. I try to be useful.
Best thing I've watched all day! Thanks, Pacific Mike, keep on riding upright and between the pipes.
Thank You.

Also, those are floating discs now, much better at running true.
Are you affected by the fire??
You bet.
No fire here. Long way off.

Thank You. She took a lot of years and experiments to get where she's at.
Metzler Me888 90/90/21 looks like. I didn't get to see the second part of the fork seal replacement. Great videos and tips

Thank You. I could not have said that better. I appreciate the question and the beautifully written reply.
Glad to see I’m not the only one who struggles a bit with pulling and replacing a wheel.
Yep.
Awesome videos. Love your knowledge on shovels
Thank You. They are a love thing.

Everything I do they blame on me! And the balancer? You bet! Guaranteed not to rust, bust, or collect dust!
Great Job Mike, Goter Done!
Thanks. I'm glad you like it.
That is a beautiful shovelhead sir!
Thanks, I love my Shovelhead.
Thanks for another great video, Mike's
Thanks for watching!

Thank You and Happy New Year.
Hey Mike and Mike. Watching the news and hoping you are both safe and sound along with Sonya. Not sure what area you all are in..

@pacificmike9501 glad to here it. Keep your knees in the breeze.
wow you need to take the reservoir cap off , so the fluid has some were to go.
Sorry. I knew it was a little low and I'll be replacing it soon, so I didn't spend any time with it on the video.
Im doing the same type of build. Shovelhead with 2000 plus front and rear brakes. With a 39mm front end.
Cool. You'll love it.
Pretty good video guys . Is there anything special about floating rotors or did you buy them because they were a good deal . Thanks for the channel .
Yes, they center perfectly when the brames are applied. Better braking. Smoother.
Question Mike is balancing beads worth putting in the tire?
I've seen it, but not done it.
Take it for a ride!
Okay!
Beatifull bike!! But wat is your favorite bike? Panhead, shovelhead or knukclehead?
Yes!
I cut some slots in a socket welded that to the jack now i can use a ratchet handle much easier
Cool.
Mike, I guess you cleaned those discs before you installed them, some come with a protective 'spray' or 'oil' on them.
I wiped them down with a little alcohol. But, they were clean.

Nice job! How did Fred’s new cam workout and did I miss the conclusion to that job? Thanks brother
Coming up.
You okay out there Mike??
Thank You. All's well here. We're a long ways from any fires.
Have you been effected by the fires?
No. I'm quite a ways off.
Hope your out of harms way of the wildfire and Baby doll is safe
